Additioansl qualities and skills which the catalogers in this environment will need are indentified. The review is done through the examination of research reports and results of numerous library surveys. The overall climate of change is toward a process of conver gent evolution between catalogers and public service librarians. The heads of technical services departments and several catalogers in eight Korean academic libraries including National Central Library are interviewed to find out the present development of automation and any effect on cataloging staff in terms of work and organizational structure. It is too early to have any such changing impact as the automation is still in its implementing stage. • The growth of Bandung's tourism industry has had a massive impact on the hotel sector. Most tourists visiting Bandung are domestic tourists and tend to be modest spenders fitting the profile of a mid-market (2/3 star) hotel guest. As competition has increased mid-market hotels have come under pressure from upmarket (4/5 star) and budget hotels committed to cutting prices. There is also competition with the mid-market hotel sector, which means that the 2/3 star hotels have to keep innovating in order to remain competitive. This study uses the Service Quality framework to describe customer expectations and identify gaps in hotel services. A questionnaire survey of 105 local tourists who had stayed in 2/3 star hotels in Bandung showed that the most important dimension is responsiveness, following by reliability, assurance, tangibles and empathy. Thus we conclude that local tourists' primary expectations are that hotels will deliver the service they have promised, be responsive to guests' needs and comply with service standards. Furthermore, these findings validate the earlier prediction that comparing 2/3 star hotel with 5/4 start hotel, the customers are having preliminary knowledge on facilities limitation and friendliness. Tourists using 2/3 star hotels tend to be prepared to accept limited facilities and less friendly staff service.

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to identify and describe nurses' experience of a career ladder program (CLP) in a general hospital in Korea. Methods: The data were collected from 15 nurses who participated in the CLP. Each nurse completed individual in-depth interviews, for which the main interview question was "How do you describe your experience of CLP?" All interview data were transcribed and were analyzed using the grounded theory method. Results: The core category of the experience of CLP was identified as "challenging to rebirth as an expert". The participants used five action/interaction strategies such as "taking some time for introspection", "appreciating the essence of nursing", "making use of feedback positively", "throwing away doubts about their own capabilities", "exerting themselves with confidence". The consequence of the process of adjusting to CLP was "positioning a differentiated expert". Conclusion: The results of this study show that participants recognized CLP as a powerful resource which leads them to professional growth and development. Thus, CLP could be utilized as a clinical career-promoting program and ultimately as a program for providing high-quality nursing services.

  • According to the recent survey, it was reported that the public libraries in Korea had seldom conducted the measurement and evaluation of the public library performance. This study, therefore. has investigated the wide range of existing literature on performance measurement and analyzed the different approaches to the problem of measuring public library performance. The performance indicators suggested in this study are 62 indicators and fall into five domains, such as materials, staff resources, user services, facilities, budget and management. Besides, some indicators are suggested to be used in cases where a more detailed examination is required - usually when measuring the performance of an individual library.

Results: The health service performance frequency of metropolitan city type public health centers was significantly high in the areas of education, behavior pattern, chronic disease, pregnant women & infants, and multi-cultural family. The health service performance frequency of Gun type public health centers was significantly high in the areas of type of test, fundamental nursing, and basic rehabilitation. In addition, the correlation between the performance frequency and educational needs was positively correlated, and the subjects with greater educational needs performed more. Conclusion: Educational programs should be designed according to the types of public health centers rather than work experiences, especially in systematic training for frequently performed items after reviewing the practice precisely.
