A long-term field experiment of the selected stabilization methods(Cover system, full range and upper range treatment) was conducted to reduce the heavy metal mobility in farmland soil which was contaminated by heavy metals around abandoned mine site. Field experiments were established on the contaminated farmland with the wooden plate and filled with treated soil, which was mixed with lime stone and steel reforming slag except on control plot. Soil samples were collected and analyzed during the experiment period(about 4 months) after the installation of the plots. Field demonstration experiments results showed that the cover system and the full range treatment of the selected stabilization methods applied to the application ratio of lime stone 5% and steel refining slag 2% were effective for immobilizing heavy metal components in contaminated farmland soil.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to compare the influence of external scapular stabilization on the isometric strength of shoulder flexor muscle in subjects with and without scapular winging and conditions with and without external scapular stabilization. Methods: A total of 30 subjects with and without scapular winging were enrolled. Two groups were classified using clinical and diagnostic tests to divide the groups with and without scapular winging (15 with scapular winging 15 without scapular winging). The isometric strength of the shoulder flexor was measured using a tensiometer. The isometric strength was evaluated in the sitting position with and without an external scapular stabilization. The external scapular stabilization was provided with the examiner's hand to fix scapular winging during shoulder flexion. The changing value was calculated to determine the isometric strength difference between shoulder flexion with and without the external scapular stabilization in each group. The changing value between isometric strength of shoulder flexor with and without scapular winging was compared using the independent t-test. Statistical significance was set at 0.05. Results: In the group with scapular winging, the shoulder flexor isometric strength in the sitting position was greater with an external scapular stabilization than without an external scapular stabilization (p<0.05). There was no significant difference in the shoulder flexor isometric strength in the subjects without scapular winging between conditions with or without an external scapular stabilization (p>0.05). Conclusion: The external scapular stabilization in the individuals with scapular winging may increase shoulder flexor isometric strength in the sitting position.
Purpose: This study was to identify the effect of cervical stabilization exercise on pain and structure in patients with cervical artificial disc replacement. Methods: Forty-four individuals with cervical artificial disc replacement volunteered to participate from FEB 2012 to MAR 2013 in this study. They were allocated to either Experimental Group (EG) or Control Group (CG), with 22 subjects in each group. Subjects from the EG performed cervical stabilization exercise program and subjects from the CG performed isometric exercise program. Assessment tools were made with the Visual Analogue Scale (VAS), Neck Disability Index (NDI), and Cervical Lordosis Angle (CLA). Results: In this study, in within-group and between-group comparison, the EG and CG showed significant differences in all parameters(p<0.05). But EG showed more improvement than CG at all parameters. Conclusion: These findings suggest that cervical stabilization exercise may be favorably used to improve VAS, NDI and CLA in patients with cervical artificial disc replacement. Further studies with larger sample and long-term follow-up period need to generalize the results of this study.
Purpose: this study was conducted on female university students in supine position and preformed the 2 bridge positions exercises, which are the bridge position exercise and the bridge exercise preformed with form rollers attached between their knees, in order to research the effects lumbar stabilization exercise has on lower extremity muscular strength. Method: In order for the participants to fully understand the topic and procedures of the experiment, they were given a 20 minutes of briefing and practice before the experiment. Result: Bridge exercise group and foam roller group were improved the knee flexion and extension strength. Conclusion: This research studied the difference of each lumbar stabilization positions and the effects they have on the fortification of the leg's flexion extension muscular strength, and by comparing which different exercise methods increase muscular strength the most works to plan a more optimal exercise method for lumbar stabilization.
Purpose: This study attempts to understand the effect of stabilization exercise of biofeedback scapular on muscle activity and functional evaluation of the upper extremity in stroke patients. Methods: Patients were divided into two groups; a biofeedback scapular stabilization exercise group comprised of 8 patients and a task-oriented training group including another 8 patients, and 30-minute exercise was performed 5 times a week for 8 weeks. Electromyogram was used to measure muscular activity of lower trapezius, deltoid middle, and serratus anterior. Fugl-Meyer Assessment and Manual Function Test were used to evaluate functions of the muscles mentioned. Results: Significant difference was observed in the comparison group before and after exercise in muscular activity of lower trapezius, deltoid middle, and serratus anterior, Fugl-Meyer Assessment, and Manual Function Test. Conclusion: Therefore, we could see that biofeedback scapular stabilization exercise is more effective than task-oriented training in facilitating muscle activation and functional capacity of upper limb.
Purpose : The purpose of this study was to investigate effect of the lumbo-pelvic stabilization exercise on relief of menstrual pain and premenstrual syndrome of the female university students. Methods : Thirty female students with dysmenorrhea were participated in this study. Subjects divided into experimental group(n=15) and control group(n=15). Experimental group were given lumbo-pelvic stabilization exercise and control group didn't have any application to exercise. Menstrual pain measured by VAS(Visual Analogue Scale) and premenstrual syndrome measured by MDQ(Moos Menstrual Distress Questionnaire) scale. Results : The experimental group were significantly improved menstrual pain and symptoms of premenstrual syndrome, but negligible changes were found in the control group. Conclusion : This study show that lumbo-pelvic stabilization exercise is beneficial intervention for decrease menstrual pain and premenstrual syndrome.
Purpose : The purpose of this study was carried out to review for the importance of breathing pattern training for the spinal stabilization. Methods : This is a literature study with books and thesis. Results : Breathing with normal respiratory mechanics has a potent role in neuro-musculo-skeletal system. The evaluation of respiratory mechanics should be a routine part of every physical examination. And respiratory mechanics must be intact for both normal posture and spinal stabilization to be possible. Conclusion : The spinal stabilization exercise with the breathing pattern training is more efficient therapeutic exercise program for the patient with neuro-musculo-skeletal system disorder.
Background: The purpose of this study was to find out the effect of trunk stabilization training on the self posture control efficacy, physical self-description and perception stress in high school students. Methods: 92 voluntary students (73 females, 19 males) participated in this study. They received trunk stabilization training for 40 minutes per day and a time per week during 6 weeks period. Trunk stabilization training was an approach of education in proper posture and coordination of movement. In the evaluation, the self posture control efficacy scale (SPCES) was used to measure the posture control efficacy, the physical self-description questionnaire (PSDQ) was used to measure the physical self description and the perception stress scale (PSS) was used to measure the stress. All measurement of each subject were measured before and after stabilization training. Results: The SPCES were significantly different before and after (p<.05). The PSDQ and PSS were no significantly different before and after (p>.05) but the means were increased slightly. Conclusion: Conclusionally these results suggest that the trunk stabilization training increased the self posture control efficacy and would give help to control Students themselves.
PURPOSE: This study was to investigate the effect of stabilization exercise with abdominal breath on Balance and Oswestry Disability Index for Low Back Pain Patients. METHODS: The subjects were 18 low back pain patients in their twenties. The subjects were randomly assigned into experimental group and control group. Control group and experimental group both participated in 30 minutes of stabilization exercise for 8 weeks(5 times/week), and experimental group participated in stabilization exercise with abdominal breath. The subjects were tested balance and pain using BioRescue and Oswestry Diability Index respectively, before and after intervention. RESULTS: The experimental group showed a statistical significance in movement areas of the body's center(p<.05), but there was no significant differences between groups (p>.05). The experimental group showed a statistical significance in movement distances of the body's center with eyes open(p<.05), and there was significant differences between groups(p<.05). Both groups showed a statistical significance in ODI between pre and post test(p<.05) but there was no significant differences between groups(p>.05). CONCLUSION: As a result, the group participating in stabilization exercise with abdominal breath had a more effective improvement than the control group. Therefore, the stabilization exercise with abdominal breath may be used improving balance and pain in low back pain patients.
