  • This study explored Korean college students' smartphone game behavior for the pastime. Smartphone games have weakness that is not appropriate for playing the game because of small screen and non-sophisticated interface for operation. To defeat the disadvantage, the games employed minimalism like conciseness or simplicity. The study explored how conciseness influences perceived ease of use, perceived enjoyment, flow, and intent to use the game through PLS path modeling. We found that every hypothesis except a path, perceived ease of use to flow, proved significant. This result means that smartphone game design should consider the interface of users' convenience and user experience practically. Finally, based on the findings, suggestions for future studies were discussed.

  • Lee, Moon Won reported by 63 kinds lescribing the petrography and bulk chemical Composition in Petrology of Cheju volcanic island. The total Chemical Composition data was analyzed by the program of FORTRAN77. First, the Conversition equations and the scatter diagram were examined to the analysis, by the least square method. Next, a statistical data requested a mean Value, maximum value, minimum value, the range, the standard deviation, the variance, the Standord Error and the Coefficient of variation. In the standard deviation, a small Composition is MnO and P$_2$O$\sub$5/, a large Composition is SiO$_2$, Mgo and FeO. The Standard error and the variance were the tandency looked like the Standard deviation well. However, the Coefficient Variation differs from the Standard deviation. Where, a large Coefficient of variation are H$_2$O$\^$-/ and H$_2$O$\^$+/, a small Coefficient of variation are Al$_2$O$_3$ and SiO$_2$. The Correlation of Coefficient Can be Calculated numerically from the relation between SiO$_2$, Al$_2$O$_3$ and TiO$_2$ to other Compositions.

  • Objective: The purpose of this study is to compare the workload level at each lower limbs posture and suggest the ergonomic workstation guideline for working period by evaluating the imbalanced lower limbs postures from the physiological and psychophysical points of view. Background: Many workers like welders are working in various imbalanced lower limbs postures either due to the narrow working conditions or other environmental conditions. Method: Ten male subjects participated in this experiment. Subjects were asked to maintain 3 different lower limbs postures(standing, squatting and bending) with 3 different working conditions(balanced floor with no scaffold, imbalanced floor with 10cm height of scaffold, and imbalanced floor with 20cm height of scaffold). EMG data for the 4 muscle groups(Retus Femoris, Vastus Lateralis, Tibialis Anterior, Gastrocnemius) from each lower limbs posture were collected for 20 seconds every 2 minutes during the 8 minutes sustaining task. Subjects were also asked to report their discomfort ratings of body parts such as waist, upper legs, lower legs, and ankle. Results: The ANOVA results showed that the EMG root mean square(RMS) values and the discomfort ratings(CR-10 Rating Scale) were significantly affected by lower limbs postures and working time(p<0.05). The correlation was analyzed between the EMG data and the discomfort ratings. Also, prediction models for the discomfort rating for each posture were developed using physical condition, working time, and scaffold height. Conclusion: We strongly recommend that one should not work more than 6 minutes in a standing or squatting postures and should not work more than 4 minutes in a bending posture. Application: The results of this study could be used to design and assess working environments and methods. Furthermore, these results could be used to suggest ergonomic guidelines for the lower limbs postures such as squatting and bending in the working fields in order to prevent fatigue and pain in the lower limbs body.

  • An estimation of confidence intervals is essential to calculate uncertainty for greenhouse gases inventory. It is generally assumed that the population has a normal distribution for the confidence interval of parameters. However, in case data distribution is asymmetric, like nonnormal distribution or positively skewness distribution, the traditional estimation method of confidence intervals is not adequate. This study compares two estimation methods of confidence interval; parametric and non-parametric method for exponential distribution as an asymmetric distribution. In simulation study, coverage probability, confidence interval length, and relative bias for the evaluation of the computed confidence intervals. As a result, the chi-square method and the standardized t-bootstrap method are better methods in parametric methods and non-parametric methods respectively.

  • PVSS stands for publicly verifiable secret sharing. In PVSS, a dealer shares a secret among multiple share holders. He encrypts the shares using the shareholders' encryption algorithms and publicly proves that the encrypted shares are valid. Most of the existing PVSS schemes do not employ an ElGamal encryption to encrypt the shares. Instead, they usually employ other encryption algorithms like a RSA encryption and Paillier encryption. Those encryption algorithms do not support the shareholders' encryption algorithms to employ the same decryption modulus. As a result, PVSS based on those encryption algorithms must employ additional range proofs to guarantee the validity of the shares obtained by the shareholders. Although the shareholders can employ ElGamal encryptions with the same decryption modulus in PVSS such that the range proof can be avoided, there are only two PVSS schemes based on ElGamal encryption. Moreover, the two schemes have their drawbacks. One of them employs a costly repeating-proof mechanism, which needs to repeat the dealer's proof at least scores of times to achieve satisfactory soundness. The other requires that the dealer must know the discrete logarithm of the secret to share and thus weakens the generality and it cannot be employed in many applications. A new PVSS scheme based on an ElGamal encryption is proposed in this paper. It employs the same decryption modulus for all the shareholders' ElGamal encryption algorithms, so it does not need any range proof. Moreover, it is a general PVSS technique without any special limitation. Finally, an encryption-improving technique is proposed to achieve very high efficiency in the new PVSS scheme. It only needs a number of exponentiations in large cyclic groups that are linear in the number of the shareholders, while all the existing PVSS schemes need at least a number of exponentiations in large cyclic groups that are linear in the square of the number of the shareholders.

  • In order to protect a structure over its full life cycle, a novel tuned mass damper (TMD), the so-called semi-active eddy current pendulum tuned mass damper (SAEC-PTMD), which can retune its frequency and damping ratio in real-time, is proposed in this study. The structural instantaneous frequency is identified through a Hilbert-Huang transformation (HHT), and the SAEC-PTMD pendulum is adjusted through an HHT-based control algorithm. The eddy current damping parameters are discussed, and the relationship between effective damping coefficients and air gaps is fitted through a polynomial function. The semi-active eddy current damping can be adjusted in real-time by adjusting the air gap based on the linear-quadratic-Gaussian (LQG)-based control algorithm. To verify the vibration control effect of the SAEC-PTMD, an idealized linear primary structure equipped with an SAEC-PTMD excited by harmonic excitations and near-fault pulse-like earthquake excitations is proposed as one of the two case studies. Under strong earthquakes, structures may go into the nonlinear state, while the Bouc-Wen model has a wild application in simulating the hysteretic characteristic. Therefore, in the other case study, a nonlinear primary structure based on the Bouc-Wen model is proposed. An optimal passive TMD is used for comparison and the detuning effect, which results from the cumulative damage to primary structures, is considered. The maximum and root-mean-square (RMS) values of structural acceleration and displacement time history response, structural acceleration, and displacement response spectra are used as evaluation indices. Power analyses for one earthquake excitation are presented as an example to further study the energy dissipation effect of an SAECPTMD. The results indicate that an SAEC-PTMD performs better than an optimized passive TMD, both before and after damage occurs to the primary structure.

  • The air-bubble sheet has been widely used to wrap fragile products for long-distance transportation. The further usage of the air-bubble sheet as a thermal-insulation material for the reduction of the thermal conductivities of window systems has occurred because of its low price, in addition to its thermal-conductivity properties. In this study, the thermal performances of a variety of commercial air-bubble sheets according to various applications were evaluated. The experiments were performed with single-glazed and double-glazed windows and three types of air-bubble sheets of different air volumes. U-values are used and were calculated for the determination of the thermal performances that are based on the KS F 2278. The maximum decrease of the U-value was measured as 1.092 when a sheet was attached onto the frame of single-glazed window. The square-like air-bubble sheet that contains the largest air volume shows the highest thermal-resistance value. Double layers of the air-bubble sheets show better performances than those of the single layers on both sides of the windows.

  • This study was carried out to investigate the epidermal structure, the stomatal types, the ontogeny of stomara in various parts of each organ of K. blossfeldiana, K. kewensis, and K. tometosa belonging to Kalanchoe. The epidermal cells were polygonal or isodiametric ones in the leaves, and mostly rectangular, tetragonal, and elongated ones in the leaves, and mostly rectangular, tetragonal, and elongated ones in the other organs. The candelabrum-like, triradiate stellete trichomes in the aerial parts of all organs of K. tomentosa were found. The cuticular striations and square crystals of calcium oxalate in the epidermal cells of petals of K. blossfeldiana were observed. The great majority of the mature stomata in various parts of all the organs were commonly helicocytic types. This type was subdivided into three subtypes such as parahelicocytic, anomohelicocytic, and dianisocytic stomata on the basis of the division angle of the guard mother cells. Somethies, the anisocytic type was found in most organs. This type was subdivided into three subtyes such as paranisocytic, nomoanisocytic, and dianisocytic stomata in the same way as the helicocytic type. A new stomataltype with anisocytic stoma within a girdle of four subsidiary cells of tetracytic type in the leaf of K. kewensis was firstly observed in the vascular plants. This type was termed the coaniso-tetracytic type. The anomomeristic pattern in the mesogenous category of stomatal types was found in various organs of all the material plants. Developmental mode of stomata was constant in all the parts of each organ within the same plant. The stomata was observed to be a few similar stomatal types in various parts of each organ within the same plant. The ontogeny of all the types is eumesogenous or mesogenous type. The ontogenetic type of stomata was mostly helico-eumesogenous type in all the organs of all the material plants. The mature stoma varied from organ to in regard of the number and arrangement of subsidiary cells.

  • The growth mechanism of diamond thin films, deposited by Hot Filament CVD, was investigated through observation of changes in their surface morphology as a function of the substance temperature and deposition time. Amorphous carbon or DLC thin films were deposited at low substrate temperature. Diamond films consisting of square-shaped particles, whose surfaces are (100) planes, were deposited at an intermedate temperature. At high substrate temperatures, diamond films consisting of the particles showing both (100) and (111) plane were deposited. The (100) proferred orientation of the diamond films are believed to be due to a relatively high supersaturation during deposition, and the growth condition for the diamond films having (100) preferred orientation can be applied to the single crystal growth since no twins are generated on the (100) plane. The grain size of the diamond films did not change with increasing temperature and its increasing rate with increasing deposition time was the same irrespective of the substrate temperature. However, the nucleation density increased with substrate temperature and its increasing rate with deposition time was much higher for the films deposited at higher substrate temperature.

  • GRB100205A is a Gamma Ray Burst (GRB) which is suspected to be at redshift z=11-13 due to its very red H-K color($(H-K)_{vega}=2.1{\pm}0.5$). We observed a field centered at GRB100205A with Wide Field Camera (WFCAM) at United Kingdom Infrared Telescope (UKIRT) in Hawaii, in order to search a quasar that could be located around the GRB. The images were obtained in J, H, and K filters covering a square area of $0.78deg^2$. Our J-, H-, and K-band data reach the depths of 22.5, 22.1, and 21.0 mag (Vega) at $5{\sigma}$, respectively. Also using z-band image observed by CFHT, we find 8 candidates that have colors consistent with a quasar at z=11-13(non-detection in z-, J-band and $(H-K)_{vega}$ > 1.6). However, the shallow depths of J-, H-band are not enough to verify their true nature. Instead, we identify many red objects to be old or dusty galaxies at $z{\geq}3$. The number density of such objects appears about twice or more than that of the field of Cosmological Evolution Survey (COSMOS) and Ultra Deep Survey (UDS) of UKIRT Infrared deep sky survey (UKIDSS). On scales between 0.18' and 15' the correlation function is well described by a power law with an exponent of ${\approx}-0.9$ and this implies that those objects are like galaxies. It is interesting that many red galaxies exist in the region where the GRB was detected.
