Development of Metaal Bipolar plates for Fuel Cell Vehicles (연료전지 차량용 금속분리판 개발)

  • Currently, the bipolar plates are fabricated mainly from graphite materials. However, metal bipolar plate are getting most attractive due to their good feasibility of mass production and low cost. In this study, metal bipolar plates for fuel cell Vehicles were developed with a concept based on the straight flow patterns to minimize the pressure drop and spring back. And molded gasket apply to the bipolar plate for improve sealing performance. Results show that the metal bipolar plate have a high potential to replace for graphite materials in fuel cell application.

  • Until recently, Stamping tool manufacturing depend on skilled designers and technicians, because it has many parameters. So, Try-out time not controlled. We now apply CAE, preliminary experiment, material database and automated stain measurement in stamping tool manufacturing for concurrent engineering that decreases product development circle time, saves cost, improves product reliability. Automated strain analysis and measurement environment gives very accurately informations to technicians of stamping tool manufacturing. They analysed the part in problem and appled to results in Try-out step.

  • In Korea the population of breeding house swallow is continuously decreasing. In this regard this study was conducted to find out the overall population trend during 2001-2005. The areas of urban and rural sites were separated to estimate population. Also the sites in Yangpyung areas were chosen to compare population density between two sites during Mar-Aug, 2006. The house swallow had two breeding periods and I tried to correlated amount of days of incubation and number of eggs in the nest. After egg hatching the homing behavior also was estimated assuming lack of foods takes longer to bring foods back to the nest. This study signified that a long term study should be conducted for population change and spring arrival time due to climate change in Korea.

  • Computer simulations and test trials were carried out to obtain the optimal stamping conditions of the die design of the laser welded automotive body. The stamping process including gravity deflection bead calibration binder wrap, forming and spring back was simulated and compared with the results obtained from test trials. The production variables were determined from a preliminary operation and they were investigated in the simulation and the test trials. The formability was tested under the various conditions, such as the initial position of blank, blank holding force, corner radius and the shape of drawbead. Sound products without fracture, wrinkling and excessive weldline movement were produced by applying results obtained this investigation.

  • Living in the present, specially in this multi-cultural society, we have to look back our tradition in many aspects. And we try to find out our own identity. Color is very important element to decide what is traditional or not. And it‘s a prominent factor for design subject visually. With the color from traditional residence, we will figure out traditional color and it‘s combination which the people prefer today, so we can applicate and develop it in the present design. Using color palette which has extracted from traditional building and space, a survey has done of university students for finding out which they think of traditional color. The result showed that Y-R type and Y-R type in color palette was the most traditional things by the students. This study is meaningful in the way of clarifying that university students think what is the traditional color and color palette.

  • This paper is concerned with the design of a robust tracking controller using a state observer on a robotic manipulator under the disturbance. The controller is designed to follow a step or ramp reference input without steady state error in the presence of a disturbance and a system parameter variation. In most cases, since all the state vectors are not measured, unmeasurable state vectors must be estimated or reconstructed. A reduced order observer is proposed to estimate unmeasurable state vectors of the non-linear system. Some problems are caused by the Coulomb friction, the disturbance, and the spring effect of a link between the drive motor and the manipulator arm. The state variables, directly measured and estimated by the reduced order observer, are fed back to the controller. When the robot system exhibits the 'limit cycle, the feedback gains initially obtained by optimal control theory are changed. As a result, the limit cycle is eliminated by the new controller gains,

  • Meshfree approximations exhibit significant Potential to solve partial differential equations. Meshfree methods have been successfully applied to various problems which the traditional finite element methods have difficulties to handle including the quasi-static and dynamic fracture, large deformation problems, contact problems, and strain localization problems. Reproducing Kernel Particle Method (RKPM) is used in this research fur to its built-in feature of multi-resolution. the sound mathematical foundation and good numerical performance. A formulation of RKPM is reviewed and numerical examples are given to verify the accuracy of the proposed meshfree method for largely deformed elasto-plastic material.

  • Recent general press brake has many problems in cutting high accurate products in the progress of industry. Previous hand-operated press brake needs many pre-processing works to adjust bending angle and marking-off works to calculate bending length. Also, The hand-operating work makes many geometric errors and has difficulty for variety-mass production. To solve these problems, this paper proposes Computer Numerical Control (CNC) general press brake and development of servo-control system based on database for reduction of geometric errors and pre-processing work time.

  • The objective of this paper is to develop a logical procedure to determine the center roller displacement, in the three-roll bending process, which is required in the fabrication of curved rectangular plates with a desired curvature. To this end, the mechanics of the process was analyzed by both analytical and finite element approaches. Comparisons of the results reveal that a simple analytical procedure, based on the beam theory, yields a reasonably accurate relationship between the center roller displacement and residual curvature. With further development and refinement, the proposed in this work has great premise for practical application, particularly automation of the process.

  • The frequency of the manufacturing and modification of automotive press dies via overlay welding has recently increased, but the welding quality depends on the operator skills and the working conditions. Therefore, this study presents a way to improve the overlay welding quality regardless of the operator skills. Three welding conditions with different pre- and post-heating treatments were tested on some specimens; the weld surface quality was analyzed by examining the cutting face. The results demonstrated the best quality of the weld surface that was heated before and after the welding.
