A clear increase in the average annual temperature is observed worldwide, and climate changes take place in response to that increase. This affects not only the ecosystem, but also to mankind. Of all those aspects of climate change, people are especially interested in the length of each season, and people acknowledge that the duration of spring and fall has been shortened over the past several years. Still, it is difficult to observe this kind of phenomenon with the simple analysis of dividing the seasons and calculating the duration. Therefore, this study attempted to set up a more intuitive standard which well reflects the current situation. This study also divided the daily climate into 4 states using the daily maximum and minimum temperature. Moreover, using the Hidden Markov Model, this study calculated the duration of each season and analyzed its tendency based on the daily temperature data of the last 53 years (1960~2012). According to the result, the duration of spring and fall showed mild decreasing tendency over the past 53 years, and the duration of fall decreased even more during the past 30 years in the Korean peninsula. After 1960, the start of spring was advanced, which decreased the length of winter for about 11 days. On the other hand, the duration of summer increased for about 25 days, which is consistent with the worldwide tendency of temperature increase.
The ginsenoside content was compared with wild simulated ginseng (Panax ginseng) collected every season at 11 wild simulated ginseng plantations in Korea. As a result, the total saponin of 7 years old wild simulated ginseng showed the highest content of 4.5% in spring sampling wild simulated ginseng, 2.0% in summer sampling wild simulated ginseng, 1.2% in winter sampling wild simulated ginseng and 1.0% in autumn sampling wild simulated ginseng. And also, the total saponin of 10 years old wild simulated ginseng showed the highest content of 3.9% in spring sampling wild simulated ginseng, summer sampling wild simulated ginseng (1.8%), winter sampling wild simulated ginseng (1.6%) and autumn sampling wild simulated ginseng (0.6%). Therefore, the total saponin of spring sampling wild simulated ginseng was about 4.5 - 6.5 times higher than that of autumn sampling wild simulated ginseng regardless of cultivation period.
This study was carried out to investigate the effects of spring (March~May) and summer (June~August) influencing semen characteristics, frozen-thawed sperm viability and serum testosterone concentration in Duroc boars. Results of this study were as follows: 1. There were no significant differences in the semen volume, pH and sperm concentration of Duroc boars between spring and summer. 2. Sperm motility and normal acrosome of raw semen in Duroc boars did not differ significantly between spring and summer. However, motility and normal acrosome of frozen-thawed sperm were higher in spring season than in summer season(P<0.05). 3. Serum testosterone concentrations in Duroc boars were 2.15 ng/$m\ell$ in spring and 0.65 ng/$m\ell$ in summer. Serum testosterone concentrations in spring were higher thin those in summer (P<0.05). 4. In conclusion, when serum testosterone concentrations in Duroc boars were higher, frozen-thawed sperm viability were higher.
Biological control of Tetranychus urticae by Phytoseiulus persimilis was observed in eggp1ant greenhouse fur spring and autumn season culture. Tetranychus urticae was controlled to low density of less than 1 mite from June 24 after p. persimilis were released 3 times at rate of 10 per plant on June 1, 11, and 18, 2004 in spring season experiment. The population of Tetranychus urticae was also less than 1 mite per eggp1ant leaf from September 1 to October 22 after three times releases of 10 P. persimilis in autumn season experiment. In Phytoseiulus persimilis released plot, the percentage of leaves with T. urticae adults and nymphs were 8.6$\sim$13.3% and 5% or less in spring and autumn season experiment. The density of T urticae was from 1 to 2 on leaves with T urticae adults and nymphs.

This study was carried out to investigate the effects of mowing height, rolling, N-fertilizing, and season on green speed(i.e., ball-roll distance) for developing and implementing a program of increasing green speed in Korean golf courses. Data were subjected to multi-regression analysis using SPSSWIN(Statistical Package for the Social Science), which collected from Yong-Pyong golf course greens selected to investigate. The results was as follows. 1) The multi-regression analysis of mowing height, rolling times, and N-fertilizer application rates on spring green speed was as follows; $Y_1$(spring green speed)=4.287+0.155X$_1$(rolling times)-0.131X$_2$(the amount of N-fertilizing)-0.251X$_3$(mowing height). 2) The multi-regression analysis of mowing height, rolling times, and N-fertilizer application rates on summer green speed was as follows; $Y_2$(summer green speed)=4.833-0.423X$_3$(mowing height)+0.146X$_1$(rolling times)-0.107X$_2$(the amount of N-fertilizing). 3) The multi-regression analysis of mowing height, rolling times, and N-fertilizer application rates on fall green speed was as follows; $Y_3$(fall green speed)=4.651-0.383X$_3$(mowing height)+0.142X$_1$(rolling times)-0.103X$_2$(the amount of N-fertilizing). 4) As mowing height was lowered by 1mm, green speed increased by 0.251~0.423m. As rolling times increased by 1(one), green speed increased by0.142~0.15m. As the amount of N-fertilizing increased by 1g/$m^2$, green speed decreased by 0.103~0.131m. The season also affected green speed. In comparison with spring green speed, summer green speed decreased by 0.145m and fall green speed decreased by 0.144m.
This experiment was undertaken to examine the injurious environment conditions for occuring of the virus disease, grasserie and cytoplasmic polyhedrosis in rearing of silk worms, to observe of cytoplsamic polyhedrosis diseased silkworms with histological preparation and to define the virus origin on the gattine and the disease of shrinked form after moulting (Okichijimi). The results obtained are as follows. 1) The grasserie in spring season rearing was remarkably infected in highly percent with 20.1 % in high temperature condition during 3rd to 4th instar, the high temperature during 1st to 2nd instar and 5th instar in 16.5% and 16.3%, respectively. In the fall season rearing, the disease was infected by the feeding of soft leaves plot in 5.3% and 4.8%, respectively with significant difference in 5% level, accordingly, it was thought to the nutritional condition is a factor in occuring of the disease. 2) In spring season rearing, the number ofl infected silk worms of cytoplasmic polyhedrosis was increased in the high temperautre and high humidity conditions, and in fall season rearing, order of the low temperature and high humidity plot, first feeding plot and feeded with hard leaves plot were found insome high infected ratio of the disease than control plot. 3) The occuring of cytoplasmic polyhedrosis was observed even in control rearing plot with the examining of anatomical and histological preparation in spring and fall. 4) It was found that the high diseased ratio of the gattine and disease of shrinked form after moulting in 21.8% of control and 93.2% in feeded with inocylated plot in the biosassay of inoculum. It was defined as a virus flacherie acoording to the Danaka and Shimizu's examine method.

In recent years, utilizations of satellite imagery have been extensively conducted in order to obtain accurate information on drought detection in spring season. This research also carried out utilization of satellite imagery through the various vegetation indices such as NDVI(Normalized Difference Vegeation Index), MSI(Moisture Stress Index), MidIR Index, II(Infrared Index) to find better methodology to detect drought phenomena, especially occurring in spring season. For this purpose, Landsat TM(Thematic Mapper) images were used and applied on the Yeong-cheon city. In this study, the characteristics of DN(Digital Number) for each vegetation index is analyzed, and the correlation analysis between indices and DN according to the number of days with no rain is performed. The results shows high correlation between NDVI and MSI and II with positive correlation on MSI, and negative correlation on II. This indicates the possibility for practical use of MSI, II indices with NDVI to obtain better credibility for detecting spring droughts.

To evaluate seasonal variation in fatty acid composition in broccoli, 12 commercial cultivars of broccoli were grown in spring and fall season at the field of NIHHS, and their floret, leaf and stem parts were used for the fatty acid composition analyses. Among 14 fatty acids detected in broccoli, linolenic, palmitic and linoleic acids were major fatty acids comprising more than 80% of total fatty acids in both the seasons and all the parts. Likewise, stearic and oleic acids were also present in considerable amount while remaining fatty acids; caproic, lauric, myristic, pentadecanoic, palmitoleic, heptadecanoic, arachidic, behenic and lignoceric acids showed their minor compositional ratio. Among the three parts, stem exhibited highest SFAs (49.681% in spring and 50.717% in fall season) compared to MUFA and PUFA, while highest compositional ratio of PUFAs were observed in leaves (62.588% in spring and 68.931% in fall season), which indicates leaves as a good source of health beneficial fatty acids. In contrast, floret part exhibited highest SFA (48.786%) and PUFA (57.518%) in spring and fall seasons, respectively. Major fatty acids; palmitic, linoleic and linolenic acid showed lowest cultivar dependent variation (below 10%) and leaf showed least variation in both the seasons compared to floret and stem. Our results suggest that all the fatty acids are significantly influenced by genotype of cultivars (C), plant parts (P) and growing seasons (S). Among the 14 fatty acids, myristic and palmitic acid showed highest positive or negative correlationship with oleic (r=$0.912^{**}$) and linolenic acid (r=-$0.933^{**}$), respectively. The most abundant fatty acid, linolenic acid, showed either negative or no correlation ship with other fatty acids while palmitic acid, a second major fatty acid, exhibited either positive or negative correlation ship.
A study was made on the primary production of Lake Changjamot during the spring season of 1973 by menas of the oxygen method. The stratification of temperature and dissolved oxygen were formed in May with the stratified structure of phytoplankton. The range of Secchi disc transparency was from 0.8m to 2.3m during the nine months of this investigation, which was begun in January, 1973. The value was lowest in early June when the phytoplankton blooming reached the peak. The concentration of PO4-P, NH3-N, NO3-N and NO3-N was reduced at the beginning of the phytoplankton blooming and increased again after May except PO4-P. It might have been caused by the inflow of the nitogenous fertilizer from the surrounding agricultural area since May when farming was started. The total amount of chlorophyll-a in the entire water column varied from 25mg/$m^2$ to 277mg/$m^2$ from January till September with the maximum value occurring in early June. These values show a considerable eutrophication of the in comparison with the data obtained in 1969. The daily gross production in the lake varied from a low of 655mgC/$m^2$ to a high of 2,859 mgC/$m^2$ during the spring season and this corresponds to the variation of the amount of chlorophyll. The total amount of daily respiration varied from 650mg C/$m^2$ in winter to 2,307 mg C/$m^2$ in late spring and exceeds gross primary production especially in late May showing the negative balance of daily production and consumption of organic material at that time. In conclusion, Lake Changjamot is a fairly productive and a moderately autotrophic lake and has been eutrophicated much during the past four years.
Macroinvertebrate contribution to the leaf litter breakdown of Carpinus cordata was estimated at headwater streams at Mt. Jumbong (38°03'N, 128°25'E) during spring and winter spring by using two types of litter bag. Coarse-mesh bags with 10 g of leaf letter were placed in a 1st-order stream in April (the spring experiment) and December 1995 (the winter-spring experiment). Fine-mesh bags with 5 g of leaf letter were placed in a nearby 3ed-order steam. The breakdown of Carpinus in coarse-mesh bags was rapid, and, in terms of season, leaf litter processed rapidly during spring. daily mass loss rates of leaf litter (-k±1 SE) were highest for coarse-mesh bags in the spring experiment (-0.0429±0.0048), followed by coarse-mesh bags in the winter-spring (-0.0146±0.0014), fine-mesh bags in the spring (-0.0078±0.0004), fine-mesh bags in the winter-spring experiment (-0.0054±0.0005). Macroinvertebrate contribution to the litter breakdown was estimated by the difference of % leaf letter remaining between coarse -mesh bage and fine-mesh bags. Although shredders were more abundant during the winter-spring, their contribution was greater during the spring (50%) than the winter-spring (22∼33%). This result appeared to be due to the change in the chemical composition of leaf letter during processing, and to the seasonal growth patterns of major shredder taxa.
