감압비등 분무의 역광이미지 후처리 기법에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Post Processing of Flash Boiling Spray Image from Shadowgraphy)

  • When investigating the droplet, spray, and impact of liquid on a solid plate, backlight imaging has been widely used to understand these phenomena. However, some previous studies have suffered from poor image quality. In this study, various combinations of image processing algorithms, such as white image correction, histogram equalization, CLAHE, Otsu's binarization, and multi-Otsu's binarization, have been applied to flash boiling spray images to enhance image quality for qualitative observation and semi-quantitative spray angle evaluation. To acquire images with high contrast for qualitative observation, applying CLAHE was effective, making small droplets and detailed shapes of the jet noticeable. However, when images were averaged to determine spray angle or penetration length based on intensity, this method induced artifact unphysical patterns, thus requiring careful consideration. Based on the algorithm proposed in this study, the spray angle variation according to injection pressure and temperature has been calculated, showing a reasonable trend.

Development of a Four-way Interface for Online Capillary Isoelectric Focusing-Electrospray-Mass Spectrometry (CIEF-ESI-MS)

  • A new interface for coupling CIEF and MS using a four-way cross has been developed in a single mechanical system. This new interface could be operated without the electric discontinuity and reinstallation of lines. Additionally, a bare fused silica capillary was facilitated as a spray needle to produce electrospray and to guide catholyte or sheath liquid. Focusing for CIEF was completed in a hanging droplet at the end of spray needle. This capillary spray needle also provided stable spray, enhanced the ionization efficiency and increased sensitivity. Results with carbonic anhydrase I showed that focusing and spraying were well completed with the new interface and the new spray needle.

Value of spray-dried egg in pig nursery diets

  • High-quality protein ingredients have been used in nursery diets, in spite of expensive ingredients, to minimize nutritional deficiency and disease problems. Recent dramatic increases in prices of protein products for nursery diets have exacerbated the challenge. Spray-dried egg may be a part of the solutions. Therefore, this review describes the value of spray-dried egg in nursery diets as a high-quality protein source. Spray-dried egg is egg by-product and is produced by only eggs without shell that are below the USDA Grade B standards. Spray-dried egg is an excellent nutrient source: 1) highly digestible, 2) excellent balance of amino acids, 3) rich content of fat, and 4) high metabolizable energy. These can be attributed to growth of nursery pigs. Beyond the provision of bioavailable nutrients, spray-dried egg also may provide specific physiological benefits. Spray-dried egg contains 1) immunoglobulin antibodies (IgY: IgG in egg yolk) that may attach to intestinal pathogens and excrete them and 2) lysozymes antimicrobial protein that can damage bacteria cell wall. Thereby feeding spray-dried egg may reduce concentration of intestinal pathogen and thus improve potential gut health or enteric disease resistance in nursery pigs. This is important for physiologically immature weaned pigs. Based on these benefits, spray-dried egg is believed to have the same benefits as spray-dried plasma protein and milk products in diets for nursery pigs. Therefore, it is suggested that spray-dried egg has a great potential as a valuable protein source in nursery diets.

부탄올의 분사 및 분무특성에 관한 실험적 연구 (An experimental study on the injection and spray characteristics of butanol)

  • Butanol has an ability to improve the ignition quality due to its lower latent heat of vaporization; it has an advantage to reduce a volume of a fuel tank because its energy density is higher than that of ethanol. Also, butanol-diesel oil blending quality is good because butanol has an effect to prevent the phase-separation between two fuels. Even if the blended oil contains water, it can reduce the corrosion of the fuel line. Thus, it is possible to use butanol-diesel oil blended fuel in diesel engine without modification, and it may reduce the environment pollution due to NOx and particulate and the consumption of diesel oil. Therefore, some studies are being advanced whether butanol is adequate as an alternative fuel for diesel engines, and the results of the combustion and exhaust gas emission characteristics are being presented. Though the injection and spray characteristics of butanol are more important in diesel combustion, the has not yet dealt with the matter. In this study, the influence in which differences of physical properties between butanol and diesel oil may affect the injection and spray characteristics such as injection rate, penetration, spray cone angle, spray velocity and process of spray development were examined by using CRDI system, injection rate measuring device and spray visualization system. The results exhibited that the injection and macroscopic spray characteristics of two fuels were nearly the same.

분무 액적 특성 계측을 위한 디지털 입자 홀로그래피 시스템의 개발 (Development of Digital Particle Holographic System for Measurements of the Characteristics of Spray Droplets)

  • This study presents development of digital particle holographic system and its application to spray field to measure three-dimensional velocities and sizes of spray droplets. A double exposure hologram recording system with synchronization system for time control was established and digital holograms can be recorded in a short time interval. To process recorded holograms, the correlation coefficient method was used for focal plane determination of particles. To remove noises and improve the quality of holograms and reconstructed images, the Wiener filter was adopted. The two-threshold and image segmentation methods were used in binary image transformation. For particle pairing, the match probability method was adopted. The developed system was applied to spray field and three-dimensional velocities and sizes of spray droplets were measured. The measurement results of digital holographic system were compared with those made by laser instruments, PDPA(Phase Doppler Particle Analyzer), which proved the feasibility of in-line digital particle holographic system as a good measurement tool for spray droplets.

초음파 가진을 이용한 2-유체 노즐의 효율 향상 (Improvement of the Efficiency of a Twin-fluid Nozzle using Ultrasonic Vibration)

  • Characteristics of a twin-fluid spray with ultrasonic vibration were examined in order to obtain a high efficiency of cold-fog spray of the automatic pest control machine which has been widely used in protected horticulture recently. An electrostrictive vibrator of PZT BLT and a magnetostrictive $\pi$-type vibrator were used applied as the ultrasonic transducers with a frequency of 28 kHz. All experiments were conducted in 4 methods of spray ; a conventional spray method without ultrasonic forcing, an indirect vibration method with ultrasonic forcing, an improving-quality method by ultrasonic forced within liquid, and a combined-use method with both of the indirect vibration method and the improving quality method. It was found that the ultrasonic energy increased the atomization efficiency of spray droplets about 10% and especially much more in the case of the combined-use method.

연료 종류에 따른 이중 오리피스 노즐의 분무 특성 연구 (A Spray Characteristics of Dual Orifice Injector with Different Fuel Properties)

  • The effects of fuel density and fuel viscosity on spray characteristics were investigated under two different gas turbine fuels and various fuel supply pressure conditions through measurement of SMD, number density and volume flux by using PDPA system in dual orifice injector for gas turbine engines. In this study, we found out that the droplet size and spray structure are strongly depend on fuel density for dual orifice injector. The spray characteristics of high density fuel in dual orifice injector are similar with the characteristics of low density fuel in single orifice injector. The shear region between primary main fuel stream and secondary main fuel stream is examined in low density fuel condition but not exist in high density fuel condition, then this shear region is very important in quality of gas turbine spray. There are worth consideration for the effect of fuel density on spray characteristics in frontal device design to improve combustion efficiency.

과수원용 스프레이어의 농약 살포 및 비산 예측을 위한 전산유체해석 (CFD Modeling of Pesticide Flow and Drift from an Orchard Sprayer)

  • Effective pesticide applications are needed to assure the quality and economic competitiveness of fruit production and lower the risk of spray drift. Experimental studies have shown that better spray coverage and less driftability require an understanding of the transport of spray droplets within turbulent airflows in the orchard and the interaction between droplet dynamics and tree canopies. This study developed a computational fluid dynamics (CFD) model to predict pesticide flows in the orchard and spray drift discharged from an air-assisted orchard sprayer. The model represented the transport of spray droplets as well as droplets captured by tree canopies, which were modeled as a conical porous model and branched tree model. Validation of the CFD model was accomplished by comparing the CFD results with field measurements. Spray depositions inside tree canopies and at off-target locations were in good agreement with the measurements. The resulting data presented that 38.6%~42.3% of the sprayed droplets were delivered to the tree canopies while 13.6%~20.1% were drifted out of the orchard, part of them reached farther than 200 m from the orchard. The study demonstrates that CFD model can be used to evaluate spray application performance and spray drift potential.

산화제 과잉 예연소기 인젝터의 분무 특성에 관한 연구 (An Experimental Study of the Spray Characteristics for an Oxidizer-rich Preburner Injector)

  • The spray characteristics of the oxidizer-rich preburner are investigated. This system is generally operated at an oxidizerfuel mixture ratio of 50. The spray quality and mixing performance are very important for safe combustion. To know the spray characteristics of the oxidizer-rich preburner, we have designed various swirl injectors and measured droplet velocity and size by the PDPA system. The flow discharge coefficient of the fuel orifice is $0.12{\sim}0.21$, oxidizer orifice discharge coefficient is $0.16{\sim}0.28$. From the spray visualization, fuel nozzle spray angle is $15^{\circ}{\sim}25^{\circ}$, oxidizer nozzle spray angle is $65^{\circ}{\sim}85^{\circ}$ and combined spray angle is reduced $2^{\circ}{\sim}5^{\circ}$ compared to the oxidizer nozzle only case. From the PDPA measurement, droplet SMD is $175\;{\mu}m$ at 50 mm and $190\;{\mu}m$ at 100 mm of variant 1 combined case. The number concentration measurement revealed the reason of the droplet diameter increasement with distance. That is due to drop coalescence results from collision of drops which is occurred in dense sprays at a long distance from nozzle orifice exit.

사과 '후지'에서 유기 칼슘화합물의 수관살포가 과실의 무기성분 농도, 동녹 발생 및 과실 품질에 미치는 영향 (Effects of Tree-spray of Organic Calcium Compounds on the Mineral Nutrition Concentration, Russet Occurrence and Fruit Quality in 'Fuji' Apple at Harvest)

  • 사과 '후지'에서 유기 칼슘화합물(ACa)을 수관살포 농도별 및 생육후반기 횟수별 처리한 후 과실의 칼슘농도, 동녹 발생 및 과실품질에 미치는 영향을 조사한 결과는 다음과 같다. 생육기간중 ACa 수관살포의 적정농도는 엽에는 125배에서 1,000배, 과실에서는 125배 이었다. 생육기간중 ACa 500배 수관살포 적정횟수는 엽에는 1회 (9월 25일) ~ 3회 (9월 25일, 10월 5일, 15일), 과피에는 1회 (9월 25일), 과육에서는 2회 (9월 25일, 10월 5일) ~ 3회(9월 25일, 10월 5일, 15일)이었다. ACa 생육후반기 농도 및 살포 횟수 수관살포에 의한 약해발생은 육안으로 발견하지 못하였다.
