  • In this study, the combustion instability characteristics according to the change in the hydrogen ratio in the fuel in the single nozzle system of the hydrogen-natural gas mixed gas turbine for power generation was analyzed using a three-dimensional finite element analysis-based Helmholtz solver. This combustor shows the instability characteristics in which mode transition occurs from a mode having a low amplitude near 70 Hz to a mode having a high amplitude of 250 Hz or higher as the hydrogen fraction in the fuel increases. The current modeling results are found to reasonably predict the main characteristics of the change in measured instability frequency and growth rate with the change in fuel composition.

  • In this study, the thickness of the liquid sheet formed by a low speed impinging jet onto a wall was measured by the direct contact method. The spatial distribution characteristics of the sheet thickness in the radial and circumferential directions, and the effects of jet velocity and liquid viscosity were analyzed. The measurement results were compared with the theoretical predictions for two impinging jets. The wavy surface was observed for low viscosity water, but not for high viscosity glycerol solutions. The sheet thickness decreased as the circumferential angle or the distance from the impinging point increased. The sheet thickness increased as the liquid viscosity increased. Comparison with the theoretical predictions showed some differences from the measurement results.

  • This paper is a numerical analysis study for evaluating the energy efficiency of electric vehicles. Currently, the methods for testing and evaluating the energy consumption efficiency of electric vehicles have limitations such as resources and time. Therefore, there is a need for research on developing models to predict the energy consumption efficiency of electric vehicles. In this study, a numerical analysis research is conducted to predict the energy efficiency of electric vehicles using a vehicle dynamics numerical analysis model. To validate the accuracy of the simulation model, it is compared the results of dynamometer tests with the simulation results and used the Unified Diagnostic Services (UDS) protocol to acquire internal data from the electric vehicle. It is ensured the reliability of the simulation model by comparing data such as motor speed, battery voltage, current, state of charge (SOC), regenerative braking power generation, and total driving distance of the test vehicle with dynamometer test data and simulation model results.

헬름홀츠 솔버 기반의 3차원 열음향해석을 통한 발전용 단일 캔 연소기에서의 공진 모드 분석 (Resonance Mode Anlaysis in a Single Can-type Combustor through 3D Thermo-acoustic Analysis based on Helmholtz Solver)

  • This study conducted a 3D thermo-acoustic analysis based on the helmholtz solver to analyze the major resonance modes causing combustion instability in a single-can combustor. The experimental investigations were carried out on a test rig designed by the Korea Institute of Machinery & Materials (KIMM) under various conditions of hydrogen co-firing and fuel staging. Through these experiments, two primary unstable frequencies were identified. To determine the resonance modes of these frequencies, a 3D thermo-acoustic analysis was conducted using temperature information from the test rig. The results confirmed that the unstable frequencies observed in the experiments were all longitudinal modes. Additionally, the mode shapes identified in the analysis facilitated a simplification of the exit geometry for the low-order network model, confirming that this did not significantly affect the fundamental resonance modes.

  • The EU (European Union) was introduced Euro-6e in 2023. Recently, the EU prepare to introduce Euro-7. One of difference Euro-6e and Euro-7 is test route condition. This study developed 5 test routes that have different characteristics and severity. The severity of test routes was made by traffic and road gradient. And this study was conducted RDE test on 5 test routes for Light-Duty diesel vehicle (Euro-6d). Based on the test results, the emission characteristics of CO2 and NOx were analyzed according to the severity of the test routes. Especially, 4 test routes were satisfied normal driving condition of Euro-7 and other test route was satisfied extended driving condition of Euro-7.

  • This study investigates the performance of 2.0L hybrid vehicles equipped with Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) fuel engines, using energy flow analysis. By incorporating a direct LPG injection system (LPDi), the research aims to overcome the reduced maximum output commonly associated with LPG engines. Moreover, the integration of a hybrid system is explored as a means to enhance vehicle fuel economy while reducing CO2 and emissions. The study employs data from FTP-75 and HWFET driving cycle to inform future research efforts focused on predicting CO2 emissions and fuel economy for Hybrid Electric Vehicles utilizing LPG Direct Injection. The findings offer insights into optimizing fuel systems for better environmental and operational performance in hybrid vehicles.

교류 전기장 인가에 따른 프로판 예혼합 화염의 유동 특성 (Flow Characteristics of Propane Premixed Flame on AC Electric Field)

  • This study investigates the flow characteristics of propane-air premixed flames on AC electric field using the Schlieren method. A voltage was applied to the ring electrode and the burner was grounded to form an electric field, and the applied voltage was fixed at 16 kV (Vpp). Results show that under the application of AC electric fields, flow around the flame oscillated only at frequencies below 50 Hz, and no oscillation was observed above this frequency range. Flame height oscillated with frequency in the range of 25 to 300 Hz, with frequency doubling observed in the range of 25 to 150 Hz. The flammability limit increased with frequency up to 250 Hz, but in the high-frequency range above 250 Hz, the flammability limit did not increased and converged.

산화구리-순수 물 나노유체 액적의 막비등에 관한 실험적 연구 (Experimental Study on Film Boiling of CuO-Water Nanofluid Droplets)

  • An experimental study was conducted on the film boiling of nanofluid droplets at a surface temperature range of 300 to 500℃. The nanofluid was made by mixing pure water with copper oxide powder of diameter of 80 nm. The initial volume of the nanofluid droplet ranged from about 21 to 44 ㎕, and the volume, base diameter, and time were measured during the evaporation process. It was found that nanofluid droplets evaporate faster as the surface temperature increases. Also experimental results showed the droplets evaporate quickly at the beginning of evaporation, but as the volume of the droplets decreases, the evaporation rate gradually slows down, and this trend becomes stronger as the surface temperature increases. In addition, the evaporation rate of nanofluid droplets was slightly faster than that of pure water droplets, this was believed to be because the contact area of nanofluid droplets increased.

  • 디젤엔진에서는 2차 분사 시스템은 다양한 배기 시스템에 적용이 가능하고, 엔진 제어와 관계없이 독립적으로 제어가 가능하기 때문에 환원제 희석 면에서도 후분사 또는 다른 농후한 환원제 분위기 형성 방법 등에 비해 장점이 많다. 2차 분사 시스템에서는 환원제의 공급 방법에 따라서 촉매의 효율은 달라질 수밖에 없다. 환원제는 일정압력 이상으로 유지 및 최적화가 필요하고, 인젝터의 위치 및 각도의 선정은 매우 중요한 인자이다. 본 논문에서는 2차 분사 조건을 변화시켜 환원제의 농도와 양을 변화시켰다. De-NOx 촉매 시스템에서 최대의 NOx 정화 효율에 적합한 환원제 분사 조건들의 선정이 필요하고, 분무 도달거리, 분무 평균 입경, 분무각, 분사량 등의 분무 특성과 환원제의 균일 분포를 잘 파악하여야 한다. 이와 같은 목적을 위하여 2차 분사에서 충돌판 형상에 의한 분무 및 거동 특성은 가시화 방법과 디지털 화상 처리 기법을 사용하여 분석하였으며, 충돌판 형상의 영향성과 각 형상에 대한 최적 각도 범위를 도출하였다.
