액주형 이류체노즐의 반경반향 분무특성에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Radial Spray Performance of a Plaint-Jet Twin-Fluid Nozzle)

  • In the combustion system, the optimum spray conditions reduce the pollutant emission of exhaust gas and enhance the fuel efficiency. The spray characteristics-the drop size, the drop velocity, the number density and the mass flux, become increasingly important in the design of combustor and in testifying numerical simulation of spray flow in the combustor. The purposes of this study are to clarify the spray characteristics of twin-fluid nozzle and to offer the data for combustor design and the numerical simulation of a spray flow. Spatial drop diameter was measured by immersion sampling method. The mean diameter, size distribution and uniformity of drop were analyzed with variations of air/liquid mass flow ratio. The results show that the SMD increases with the liquid supply flow rate and decreases with the air supply velocity. The radial distribution of SMD shows the larger drops can diffuse farther to the boundary of spray. And the drop size range is found to be wider close to the spray boundary where the maximum SMD locates.

  • It is unavoidable that the fuel spray impinges on the wall of piston cavity in a compact high-pressure D.I. diesel engine. Therefore the characteristics of impinging spray are the very significant information on the consideration and the simulation of its combustion processes including the formation mechanism of exhaust emission and the design of the combustion chamber. In this paper, the numerical simulation was performed to study the characteristics of impinging spray. The spray-wall impingement model used is Watkins and Park's model. Calculation parameters are the inclination angles and the ambient pressures. As the inclination angle increases, the impinging spray develops mainly to the direction of the downstream and scarcely flows to that of the upstream. The shape on the wall of the impinging spray is the circle in the case of the normal impingement, while it is the ellipse in that of the oblique impingement. As the ambient pressure increases, the growth of impinging spray on the wall in the radial direction decreases owing to the increase in the resistance of the ambient.

  • This study investigates the characteristics of spray, such as evaporation rate and spray trajectory, for a 4-hole injector which is applied to a 4-valve motorcycle gasoline engine. Three dimensional, unsteady, compressible flow and spray within the intake-port and cylinder have been simulated using the VECTIS code. Spray characteristics were investigated at 6000 rpm engine speed. Furthermore, we visualized fuel behavior in the intake-port using a CCD camera synchronized with a stroboscope in order to compare with the analytical results. Boundary and intial conditions were employed by complete 1-D simulation of the engine using the WAVE code. Fuel was injected into the intake-port at two time intervals relative to the position of the intake valves so that the spray arrived when the valves were closed and fully open. The results showed that the trajectory of the spray was directed towards the lower wall of the port with injection against the closed valves. With open valve injection, a large portion of the fuel was lifted by the co-flowing air towards the upper half of the port and this was confirmed by simulation and visualization.

액상부탄 분사시스템의 수치시뮬레이션 및 분무특성 예측 (Simulation of Fuel Injection System and Model of Spray Behavior in Liquefied Butane)

  • The characteristics of liquefied butane spray are expected to be different from conventional diesel fuel spray, because a kind of flash boiling spray is expected when the back pressure is below the saturation vapor pressure of the butane(0.23MPa at $25^{\circ}C$). An accumulator type pintle injector and its fuel delivery system has been simulated in ruder to give injection pressure, needle lift and rate of fuel injected. The governing equation were solved by finite difference metho. The injection duration was controlled by solenoid valve. Spray behaviors such as a transient spray tip penetration, spray angle and SMD were calculated based on the empirical correlations in case that the back pressure is both above the vapor pressure of the butane and below that of butane. When the back preassure is below the vapor pressure of the fuel, conventional correlation is modified to represent the effect of flash boiling.

Lead-Frame 에칭공정에서 몬테카를로 시뮬레이션을 이용한 에칭특성 예측 (The Prediction of Etching Characteristics Using Monte-Carlo Simulation in Etching Process of Lead-Frame)

  • The objective of this work is to simulate the etching characteristics for the optimization on the etching process of Lead-Frame. The etching characteristics such as etching factor, etching uniformity were investigated under different the actual operating conditions. The correlation between the etching characteristics and the spray ones were analyzed to simulate the etching characteristics in the etching process. To improve the etching characteristics in the etching process, effects of the various operating conditions such as pressure, distance from nozzle tip, pipe pitch, and feed speed should be understood in detail. The spray characteristics obtained by experiment using PDA system were simulated by the Monte-Carlo simulation. The etching process model was coded by Java language. It was found that the spray characteristics were correlated with the etching ones and simulation results generally agreed well with the measured results of etching characteristics in the etching process of Lead-Frame. The optimal operating parameters were successfully found under variable conditions.

  • In high-pressure diesel engine, the injected fuel spray impinges on the piston cavity surface due to the short distance between the injection nozzle and the cavity wall. The behavior of the impinging spray has the great influence on the dispersion of fuel, the evaporation, and the mixture formation process. In this study, the numerical simulation using the GTT code was performed to study the gas flows, the spray behaviors, and the fuel vapor distributions in the combustion of a D.I engine for variation of spray angle and swirl ratio.

  • Spray impingement model and fuel film formation model were developed and incorporated into the computational fluid dynamics code, STAR-CD. The spray/wall interaction process were modelled by considering the change of behaviour with surface temperature condition and fuel film formation. We divided behaviour of fuel droplets after impingement into stick, rebound and splash using Weber number and parameter K. Spray impingement model accounts for mass conservation, energy conservation and heat transfer to the impinging droplets. A fuel film formation model was developed by Integrating the continuity, the Navier-Stokes and the energy equations along the direction of fuel film thickness. The validation of the model was conducted using diesel spray experimental data and gasoline spray impingement experiment. In all cases, the prediction compared reasonably well with experimental results. Spray impingement model and fuel film formation model have been applied to a direct injection diesel engine combustion chamber.

ANSYS Fluent를 이용한 와류형 분사기의 분무특성 연구 (A Study on the Spray Characteristics of Swirl Injectors Using ANSYS Fluent)

  • Numerical studies on the spray characteristics of closed-type and open-type swirl injectors were conducted using ANSYS Fluent. By changing injection pressures, discharge coefficient and spray angle were calculated using the Reynolds stress BSL turbulent model. The numerical results were compared with previous experimental data to examine their accuracy. For a closed-type swirl injector, spray angles matched well with experimental results and discharge coefficients showed approximately 8% differences. On the contrary, discharge coefficients of an open-type swirl injector were similar with experimental result but its spray angles presented around 15% differences. Though the numerical results were not perfectly consistent with experimental data, it is thought that they could be sufficiently used for analyzing spray characteristics, specially which is hard to be measured from experiments. Numerical simulation with different turbulent models was also performed to examine their effects on the numerical results.

스프레이 코팅 룸의 온도분포 해석 (Analysis of Temperature Distributions in Spray Coating Room)

  • 아연말 코팅은 친환경성 및 고성능으로 인하여 널리 사용되고 있다. 일반적으로 코팅온도가 코팅층 두께 및 코팅품질을 결정하는 주요한 요소이므로 아연말 코팅의 경우에도 최적의 코팅온도가 요구되고 있다. 본 연구에서는 아연말 스프레이 코팅 룸의 온도분포를 해석하기 위해 룸 내부의 공기유동을 포함하는 열 유동 전산 시뮬레이션을 수행하였다. 3차원 CAD 프로그램인 SolidWorks를 이용하여 스프레이 코팅 룸 전체와 예열실과 건조실을 모두 고려한 모델링을 수행하였으며 Flow Simulation 프로그램을 이용하여 열 유동 해석을 수행하였다. 해석된 결과는 열화상카메라를 이용한 실험으로 검증하였다. 해석결과 제1스프레이실과 제2스프레이실의 온도분포 특성을 파악할 수 있었으며, 현재의 상태로는 목표 온도 값인 $25^{\circ}C$에 미달하고 있었음을 알 수 있었다. 단순히 히터를 추가하는 방법 대신, 현재 조건에서 스프레이실의 온도를 높이는 방안으로 배기팬을 사용하지 않는 경우에 대해 시뮬레이션을 수행하였으며, 그 결과 제1스프레이실의 온도가 $6.2^{\circ}C$, 제2스프레이실의 온도가 $5.8^{\circ}C$ 상승하였다. 본 연구 내용은 향후 스프레이 코팅 룸의 성능향상을 위한 설계에 이용될 수 있다.

Effect of Gun Nozzle Geometry, Increase in the Entrance Convergent Section Length and Powder Injection Position on Cold Sprayed Titanium Coatings

  • Nozzle geometry influences gas dynamics making sprayed particle behavior one of the most important parameters in cold spray process. Gas flows at the entrance convergent section of the nozzle takes place at relatively high temperature and are subsonic. Thus, this region is a very suitable environment for heating spray particle. In this study, numerical simulation and experiments were conducted to investigate the effect of nozzle contour, entrance geometry of nozzle and powder injection position at nozzle on the cold spray process. The process changes were observed through numerical simulation studies and the results were used to find a correlation with coating properties.
