This paper deals with an automated computer-aided process planning and die design system by which designer can determine operation sequences even if they have a little experience in process planning and die design for axisymmetric products. An attempt is made to link programs incorporating a number of expert design rules with the process variables obtained by commercial FEM softwares, DEFORM and ANSYS, to form a useful package. The system is composed of four main modules. The process planning and the die design modules consider several factors, such as the complexities of preform geometry, punch and die profiles, specifications of available multi former, and the availability of standard parts. They can provide a flexible process based on either the reduction in the number of forming sequences by combining the possible two processes in sequence, or the reduction of deviation of the distribution on the level of the required forming loads by controlling the forming ratios. Especially in die design module an optimal design technique and horizontal split die were investigated for determining appropriate dimensions of components of multi-former die set. It is constructed that the proposed method can be beneficial for improving the tool life of die set at practice.

In a data centric sensor network, a sensor node to store data is determined by the measured data value of each sensor node. Therefore, if the same data occur frequently, the energy of the sensor node to store the data is exhausted quickly due to the concentration of loads. And if the sensor network is extended, the communication cost for storing data and processing queries is increased, since the length of the routing path for them is usually in the distance. However, the existing researches that generally focus on the efficient management of data storing can not solve these problems efficiently. In this paper, we propose a NUNS(Non-Uniform Network Split) method that can distribute loads of sensor nodes and decrease the communication cost caused by the sensor network extension. By dividing the sensor network into non-uniform partitions that have the minimum difference in the number of sensor nodes and the splitted area size and storing the data which is occurred in a partition at the sensor nodes within the partition, the NUNS can distribute loads of sensor nodes and decrease the communication cost efficiently. In addition, by dividing each partition into non-uniform zones that have the minimum difference in the splitted area size as many as the number of the sensor nodes in the partition and allocating each of them as the processing area of each sensor node, the NUNS can protect a specific sensor node from the load concentration and decrease the unnecessary routing cost.
The results of reference wind speed calculation in Croatia as a base for the revision of the Croatian standards for wind loads upon structures are presented. Wind speed averaged over 10 minutes, at 10 m height, in a flat, open terrain, with a 50-year mean return period is given for 27 meteorological stations in Croatia. It is shown that the greatest part of Croatia is covered with expected reference wind speeds up to 25 m/s. Exceptions are stations with specific anemometer location open to the bura wind which is accelerated due to the channelling effects of local orography and the nearby mountain passes where the expected reference wind speed ranges between 38 m/s and 55 m/s. The methodology for unifying all available information from wind measurements regardless of the averaging period is discussed by analysing wind speed variability at the meteorological station in Hvar.
A DSP-based source current control for power conditioner is presented to compensate current harmonics and asymmetries of three-phase four-wire emergency generators caused by nonlinear and/or unbalanced loads. There-phase voltage type converter with split-dc-capacitor is adopted as the power circuit and a new direct source current control method is suggested, which simplifies the controller. The proposed control method shapes the generator current sinusoidally inphase with the voltage and allows the generator to supply maximum power even to single phase loads. An IGBT base lookVA prototype with the controller realized with a DSP (TMS320C32) is built and tested to verify the performance of the power conditioner.
It is very important to obtain the knowledge of loads and flow patterns in most processes because these information are the fundamental data of die design and process design. The objective of present study is to investigate loads and metal flow patterns for various process conditions in flat die extrusion of square-bars from circular billets. For analyzing the metal flow patterns of the billets photo etching is used on sections of split specimen. From this method metal flow patterns are analyzed for various area reductions friction factors and punch stroke through the process from initial-stage to final-stage. Experiments are carried out with hard solder billets at room temperature.
This paper is motivated by a military cargo-plane routing problem which is a pickup-and-delivery problem in which load splits and node revisits are allowed (PDPLS). Although this recent evolution of a VRP-model enhances the efficiency of routing, a solution method is more of a challenge since the node revisits entail closed walks in modeling vehicle routes. For such a case, even a compact IP-formulation is not available and an effective method had been lacking until Nowak et al. (2008b) proposed a heuristic based on a tabu search. Their method provides very reasonable solu-tions as demonstrated by the experiments not only in their paper (Nowak et al., 2008b) but also in ours. However, the computation time seems intensive especially for the class of problems with dynamic transportation requests, including the military cargo-plane routing problem. This paper proposes a more scalable algorithm hybridizing a tabu search for pricing subproblem paused as a single-vehicle routing problem, with a column generation approach based on Dantzig-Wolfe decomposition. As tested on a wide variety of instances, our algorithm produces, in average, a solution of an equiva-lent quality in 10~20% of the computation time of the previous method.

In this paper, a wind turbine with power splitting transmission, which is realized through a novel three-shaft planetary, is presented. The input shaft of the transmission is driven by the rotor of the wind turbine, the output shaft is connected to the grid via the main generator (asynchronous generator), and the third shaft is driven by a control motor with variable speed. The dynamic models of the sub systems of this wind turbine, e.g. the rotor aerodynamics, the drive train dynamics and the power generation unit dynamics, were given and linearized at an operating point. These sub models were integrated in a multidisciplinary dynamic model, which is suitable for control syntheses to optimize the utilization of wind energy and to reduce the excessive dynamic loads. The important dynamic behaviours were investigated and a wind turbine with a soft main shaft was recommend.
A new structure of the Wilkinson power divider that can suppress multiple harmonics output is presented The power divider consists of T-type or $\pi$-type capacitive loads and shunt resistors. Experimental results show that this power divider suppresses the second and the third harmonic components to less than -38dB, while maintaining the characteristics of a conventional Wilkinson power divider, featuring an equal power split, a simultaneous impedance matching at all ports and a good isolation between output ports.

Under impact or blast loads, concrete behaves with different mechanical properties comparing to the static loading conditions. In other words, with high strain rate, mechanical properties of concrete vary significantly. To evaluate the compressive characteristics of concrete with high strain rate, SHPB(Split Hopkinson Pressure Bar) test is typically used. However, because SHPB test method has been developed for metallic materials, it is necessary to verify the applicability of SHPB for brittle materials such as concrete. Also, there have been little researches on the evaluations of mechanical characteristics of UHPC under high strain rate conditions. This study has been performed to evaluate and analyse the compressive characteristics of plain concrete and UHPC with SHPB test apparatus. Also, to verify the applicability of SHPB test for concrete, direct displacement image analysis with high speed camera was performed for the comparisons with analytical solutions for SHPB test.
