A cavity-backed two-arm spiral antenna for partial discharge diagnosis is presented. The proposed antenna consists of a two-arm Archimedean spiral, a tapered microstrip balun as spiral antenna feed, and a ring-shaped absorber-loaded cavity. The Archimedean spiral antenna is designed for the operating frequency band of 0.3 GHz to 1.5 GHz and fed by the tapered microstrip balun. The cavity is utilized to transform the bidirectional beam into a unidirectional beam, thereby enhancing gain. The ring-shaped absorber is stacked in the cavity to reduce the reflected waves from the cavity wall. The proposed antenna is designed and simulated using CST Microwave Studio. A prototype of the proposed antenna is likewise fabricated and tested. The measured radiation patterns are directional to the positive z-axis, and the measured peak gain is 8.13 dBi at a frequency of 1.1 GHz.

In this paper, six kinds of spiral antenna, a combination of two types of spiral arm-width and three types of spiral curvature are analyzed by using moment method. Dividing spiral arms into N sections, the current distribution is calculated by Galerkin`s method. The radiation pattern and the antenna gain are derived from antenna currents. All os the six spiral antenna have amni-dirctional and wide-band characteristics, although the antenna gain changes within +_ 5dB bound for operating range(600MHz-2GHz). The variation of antenna`s gain is caused by the return loss in connection the Balun to the antenna. Simulation and experimental results on the radiation pattern also show spiral antennas have omni-directional and wide-band characteristics.

A design and its experimental result of a wideband self-complementary spiral antenna for UWB USPR(Ultrashort-Pulse Radar) system applications is presented. By utilizing the planar-type ultra-wideband microstrip-to-CPS balun, ultra-wideband characteristics of the inherent spiral antenna are retrieved. Also, the design procedure of the spiral antenna is simplified by performing simple impedance matching between separately designed balun and antenna. The proposed spiral antenna is equiangular self-complementary spiral antenna. The implemented antenna demonstrates widebaad performance for frequency ranges from 2.9 to 12 GHz with the relatively flat antenna gain of 2.7 to 5.3 dB and broad beamwidth of more than $70^{\circ}$. From these result, the possibility of a spiral antenna using a ultra-wideband microstrip-CPS balun is verified.

In this paper, we proposes a internal antenna for wireless DVI dongle device using the folded monopole structure. The proposed antenna uses a basic structure of spiral and monopole. The antenna optimized for parameters length, gap, width, and rectangle of folded monopole antenna using the spiral structure. To confirm the characteristics of the antenna parameters, HFSS from ANSYS Inc. was used for the analysis. We used an FR4 dielectric substrate with a dielectric constant of 4.4. The DVI dongle size of the proposed antenna is $50{\times}40{\times}1.6mm$, and the size of the antenna area is $10{\times}40mm$. There is a value of return loss less then -10dB in 2.4GHz and 5.8GHz, band and the maximum antenna gain is -4.13dBi. The utilization possibility of the wireless DVI Dongle antenna have a folded monopole with spiral shape could be confirmed according to compare and analyze the simulation and measurement data.
In this letter, novel antennas with two spiral elements are presented for ultra-wideband application. The original antenna consists of a T-shaped microstrip feed line, two spiral radiating elements, and a ground plane with two circular slots. It measures 30 mm ${\times}$ 40 mm ${\times}$ 1.6 mm. Spiral elements are used to increase the lower bandwidth limit. To further reduce the size of the antenna, the original antenna is cut in half by using the symmetry of the surface current distributions. The proposed antennas feature omnidirectional radiation patterns and good gain flatness.
A $Y_1Ba_2Cu_3O_{7-\delta}$ square spiral microstrip antenna (YBCO antenna) was epitaxially grown on a $LaAlO_3$ substrate by laser ablation. Also fabricated was a gold square spiral microstrip antenna (gold antenna) having the same structure as that of the YBCO antenna in order to compare the properties of both antennas. Both the YBCO antenna and the gold antenna were operated in Ku (12-18 GHz) band, and their properties such as the return loss, SWR, power gain, and radiation patterns were investigated at 77 K. The return loss below -10 dB was obtained in two frequency ranges, i.e., 14.05-14.90 GHz, and 16-18 GHz for the YBCO antenna at 77 K (YBCO superconducting antenna), and in the frequency range of 15.05-17.60 GHz for the gold antenna at 77 K. The SWR bandwidths are 0.85 GHz and 2 GHz for the YBCO superconducting antenna, and 2.55 GHz for the gold antenna at 77 K. The gain improvement of the superconducting YBCO antenna over the gold antenna at 77 K was about 10 dB in the frequency range of 16 GHz to 18 GHz. The radiation patterns show the YBCO superconducting antenna has the omni-directional property of a spiral antenna.

In this paper, the spiral antenna with the center frequencies of 315MHz, 433MHz, and 447MHz for RKE system of a vehicle is designed on PCB. The antenna is microstrip line-fed, and applied PIFA concept near the feeding part to easily tune center frequency and input impedance. The PIFA-type spiral antenna with the size of $30mm{\times}20mm$ is designed on printed PCB by considering the effect of circuits and components on PCB, ECU case and vehicle body. Also chip inductor inserted dual-band spiral antenna of 315MHz and 447MHz is designed. We found that the antenna designed on PCB satisfied the antenna specifications through measurement and field test.

This paper describes a design for a spiral antenna with a conical wall to obtain the high gain. The gain and the axial ratio of the spiral antenna were improved by a new design that included a conical wall and an optimized Archimedean slit on the ground plane in a conventional antenna with a circular cavity wall and a 4.5-turn slit. A gain improvement of 9.5 dBi higher and a good axial ratio of 1.9 dB lower were measured by the added conical wall and the newly designed slit from the current distribution control on the ground plane, respectively. The measured return loss, gain and axial ratio of the proposed antenna showed a good agreement with the simulated results. The proposed antenna will be applied to a non-linear junction detector system.

In this paper a novel two-arm microstrip spiral antenna with a circular slot on the ground plane is presented. The proposed antenna structure is constructed in a planar form without a balun circuit and the radiation characteristics of conventional and eccentric spiral antennas are obtained simultaneously. The main beam direction is normal to the plane of the spiral for characteristic frequency band and the direction of the main beam moves linearly into $\theta$ and $\phi$ direction as the frequency increases.

The spiral antenna is designed for 0.3-1.5 GHz operating frequency. Two spiral arms of the proposed antenna are fed by a microstrip tapered-balun. In order to enhance the gain, the cavity is located in the back side of the spiral pattern. The proposed antenna is designed and simulated using CST Microwave Studio. The designed antenna is also fabricated and tested to validate performance. The measured radiation patterns are directional to the +z-axis and measured peak gain is 9.92 dBi.
