Correlation between mEPSC Amplitude and Rise Time upon the Blockade of AMPA Receptor Desensitization at Hippocampal Synapses

  • Conventional views of synaptic transmission generally overlook the possibility of 'postfusional-control' the regulation of the speed or completeness of transmitter release upon vesicular fusion. However, such regulation often occurs in non-neuronal cells where the dynamics of fusion-pore opening is critical for the speed of transmitter release. In case of synapses, the slower the transmitter release, the smaller the size and rate-of-rise of postsynaptic responses would be expected if postsynaptic neurotransmitter receptors were not saturated. This prediction was tested at hippocampal synapses where postsynaptic AMPA-type glutamate receptors (AMPAR) were not generally saturated. Here, we found that the small miniature excitatory postsynaptic currents (mEPSCs) showed significantly slower rise times than the large mEPSCs when the sucrose-induced mEPSCs recorded in cyclothiazide (CTZ), a blocker for AMPAR desensitization, were sorted by size. The slow rise time of the small mEPSCs might result from slow release through a non-expanding fusion pore, consistent with postfusional control of neurotransmitter release at central synapses.

초소형자동차의 자동차안전기준에 대한 효과분석 (Assessment of Vehicle Safety Standard Requirements for New Micro-mobility Vehicle)

  • In general, an assessment of the benefits and costs with regard to vehicle safety standards are validated before regulations are implemented. This paper performs this validation for the mandatory automobile safety devices requirement for new micro-mobility. The reviewed car safety standards involved the installation of seat belts, airbags, ABS, crash speed standards, and pedestrian warning system. The benefit was estimated as the cost of accident reduction due to the installation of vehicle safety standards. As a result, the safety belt showed a B / C of 4.0 or higher, and it was found that the seat belt should be installed from 2017. After the seatbelt regulation in 2017, the results of the scenarios with the airbag, ABS, crash speed of 40 km/h, and the pedestrian warning system showed B / C of 1.0 or more according to the year of regulation. This study can be useful as a tool in the decision-making process with regard to the timing and type of vehicle safety standards requirement of micro-mobility in the future.

타워크레인의 작업 중지 풍속에 대한 현장 실태 조사 연구 (Field Survey on Suitable In-service Wind Speed Limit for Tower Crane Operation)

  • Since tower cranes are susceptible to wind loads, the operation of the tower crane should be ceased when it exposed to a strong wind. For this reason, even in Korea, the operation limit for wind loading on the tower crane is regulated by a law. Recently the Korean law in which provided the wind speed limit to cease the tower crane operation has been revised from "instantaneous wind speed of 20 m/s" to "instantaneous wind speed of 15 m/s". Although this revision is expected to reduce safety risks in tower crane operation, some field operators still insist to lower the wind speed limit. However, in many countries "wind speed of 20 m/s" is normally used as the maximum in-service wind speed for tower cranes. Therefore, the investigation of the proper wind speed for regulation would be helpful to secure the safety of the tower crane operation under windy condition. In this study the validity of the revised wind speed limit is investigated with the surveys targeted to both tower crane practitioners and parties of concerned in construction companies, in which various questions was provided for a suitable wind speed limit and the answers were analyzed. The results showed that the revised wind speed limit is acceptable to tower crane practitioners as well as the parties of concerned in construction companies and is satisfying the structural stability requirement for in-service state tower crane. Therefore, it can be concluded that the revised wind speed limit is valid in humanly safety point of view.

이동식 배출가스 측정장비를 이용한 소형 경유 자동차의 실도로 질소산화물 배출특성 분석 (Evaluation of On-Road NOx Emission from a Light Duty Diesel Vehicle using a Portable Emissions Measurement System)

  • The purpose of this research is to quantify the compliance of on-road emission from a light duty diesel vehicle, based on a comparison to emission regulation standard. $NO_x$, CO and THC emissions were measured using a portable device on a selected real-world driving route with a length of approximately 22 km. On-road measurements were repeated by 10 times on a same route to reflect variability in traffic conditions. A test route was divided into 22 road links with length of 1 km to analyze emission results with higher spatial resolution. The average emissions of $NO_x$, CO and THC over total travel distance, which is approximately 220 km, were quantified to be in compliance with emission regulation standards. Under higher spatial resolution, $NO_x$ concentration exceeded a standard in 92 links out of 220 links. The extended time in stop period and the stop-and-go driving cycle were identified as two important reasons for increased $NO_x$ emissions in observed cases. Heavy traffics showed higher $NO_x$ emissions than free flow. These results indicate that the real-world vehicle emissions might exceed the compliance level associate with traffic conditions. Another interesting observation of this research is that the on-road emission characteristics can be independent to the average speed of road links with higher spatial resolution. Variability in on-road emission might not be fully described by solely relying on an average speed, because variability in traffic conditions and road conditions can influence on real-world vehicle emissions.

풍력터빈 축 진동 응답에 대한 피치 게인-스케쥴링의 효과 (An Effect of Pitch Gain-Scheduling on Shaft Vibration Response of Wind Turbine)

  • Pitch control of wind turbine is activated above rated wind speed for the purpose of rated power regulation. When we design pitch controller, its gain-scheduling is essential due to nonlinear characteristics of aerodynamic torque. In this study, 2-mass model including a vibration mode of drive-train for a 2 MW wind turbine is considered and pitch control with gain-scheduling using a linearization analysis of the nonlinear aerodynamic torque is applied. Some simulation results for the pitch gain-scheduling under step wind speed are presented and investigated. It is shown that gain-scheduling in pitch control is important especially in the region of high wind speeds when there exists a vibration mode of drive-train.

  • To keep up with the regulation of OBD II(on board diagnostics II), many detection methods for engine misfire have been developed. Among them, the method of using the crankshaft speed fluctuation is the most noticeable in the point of view of lower cost and easier installation than any others. On the basis of the results obtained from the previous engine-dynamometer test, the integrating torque index (ITI) has been introduced. In this research, the instrumental and the interfacing systems to engine control unit(ECU) are developed for the vehicle test. Therefore, the vehicle and chassis-dynamometer test can be carried out in addition to the rough road test. From this test, the previousproposed method proved that it can be applied to the real vehicle.

  • The speed of SR(Switched Reluctance) motor can be controlled by switching angle. However, since the relation between speed and switching is nonlinear, it is difficult for simple adjustment schemes to achieve the desired performances. In this paper, an error.feedback nonlinear compensator with robustness is proposed for improving the performances of the switching angle controlled SR motor. The proposed controller consists of integral type control and relay type control. The integral type controller which operates regulation, is derived by the steady.state I/O(input/output) map and the relay type controller which works tracking, is designed by Lyapunov stability theory. The validities of the proposed controller are confirmed with the experimental results.

  • The ATO(Automatic Train Operation) System is used for train operation instead of dreivers. It is interfaced with TCMS(Train Control and Monitoring System) and ATC/TWC system in the train and wayside facilities. In this paper describes configuration of ATO, Specification of ATO hardware, construction of ATO software and the algorithm for automatic train speed regulation in the carborn ATO system. This paper is mainly concerned with the development of the ATO System. The ATO system is used for automatic or driverless operation of a train using various informations from TCMS, ATC, TWC. In this paper, the general architecture of the ATO system, implementation of ATO application software and the algorithm using servo-controller for automatic train speed controller.

  • The pressure transient inside the passenger cabin of high-speed train has been simulated using computational fluid dynamics(CFD) based on the axi-symmetric Navier-Stokes equation. The pressure change inside a train have been calculated using first order difference approximation based on a linear equation between the pressure change ratio inside a train and the pressure difference of inside and outside of the train. The numerical results have been assessed for the KTX train passing through a 9km long tunnel of Wonju-Kangneung line at the speed of 250km/h assuming that the train is satisfying the train specification for airtightness required by the regulation.

디지털 재설계법에 의한 유도 전동기 시스템의 속도제어 (Speed Control of Induction Motor Systems by a Digital Redesign Method)

  • The paper presents a digital speed control approach of induction motor systems by using a digital redesign method and adopting a well known 2nd order model as the system model equation. The basic concept using the modeling equation is induced from the control theory stand point such that we can describe usually the motor system connected by inverter, generator and load etc. just as a mechanical system to be controlled. The concept does not demand us the complicated vector-based modeling equation adopted in the traditional methods for the speed control of induction motor. The effectiveness of the servo control system composed by the above mentioned design concept is illustrated by the experimental results in the presence of step reference change and generator load variation. It is observed from the experimental results that the steady state error of the experimental set up becomes zero after some regulation time and the induction motor system is robust in spite of reference signal change and load variation of generator.
