  • This paper presents a two-dimensional edge tone to predict the frequency characteristics of the discrete oscillations of a jet-edge feedback cycle by the finite difference lattice Boltzmann method (FDLBM). We use a new lattice BGK compressible fluid model that has an additional term and allow larger time increment comparing the conventional FDLBM, and also use a boundary fitted coordinates. The jet is chosen long enough in order to guarantee the parabolic velocity profile of the jet at the outlet, and the edge consists of a wedge with an angle of $\alpha=23^0$. At a stand-off distance $\omega$, the edge is inserted along the centreline of the jet, and a sinuous instability wave with real frequency f is assumed to be created in the vicinity of the nozzle and th propagate towards the downstream. We have succeeded in capturing very small pressure fluctuations result from periodically oscillation of jet around the edge. That pressure fluctuations propagate with the sound speed. Its interaction with the wedge produces an irrotational feedback field which, near the nozzle exit, is a periodic transverse flow producing the singularities at the nozzle lips. The lattice BGK model for compressible fluids is shown to be one of powerful tool for computing sound generation and propagation for a wide range of flows.

  • An edge tone is the discrete tone or narrow-band sound produced by an oscillating free shear layer impinging on a rigid surface. In this paper we present a two-dimensional edge tone to predict the frequency characteristics of the discrete oscillations of a jet-edge feedback cycle by the finite difference lattice Boltzmann method. We use a new lattice BGK compressible fluid model that has an additional term and allow larger time increment comparing a conventional FDLB model, and also use a boundary fitted coordinates. The jet is chosen long enough in order to guarantee the parabolic velocity profile of the jet at the outlet, and the edge consists of a wedge with an angle of ${\alpha}=23^{\circ}$ . At a stand-off distance ${\omega}$ , the edge is inserted along the centreline of the jet, and a sinuous instability wave with real frequency f is assumed to be created in the vicinity of the nozzle and to propagate towards the downstream.

  • ^In this paper, diagnostic technique for detecting the engine faults, especially misfire, are introduced and compared with each other under the same conditions. With all of them the instantaneous angular velocitys, measured at the flywheel, were analyzed. The techniques include the frequency analysis, auto-correlation function, velocity index, acceleration index, maximum acceleration index, and integrated torque index. Since the main driving components for the angular velocity fluctuation are both the pressure and the inertia torque, the component of the inertia torque in it must be excluded to extract the information of the combustion from the angular velocity. To do this, it is required to consider only the first half of the combustion period in the angular velocity fluctuations, which has never been proposed in the existing methods. On the basis of this fact, the results show that the most effective diagnostic technique is maximum acceleration index.

  • The physical origin of complex dynamic domain configuration in nonequilibrium magnetic systems with mesoscopic length scales has been studied. An increasing complexity in the spatial feature of the evolution is found to accompany the increasing reversal speed, when a ferromagnetic element is driven by progressively faster switching fields applied antiparallel to the initial magnetization direction. As reversal rates approach the characteristic precession frequencies of spin fluctuations, the thermal energy can boost the magnetization into local configurations which are completely different from those experienced during quasistatic reversal. The sensitive dependence of the spatial pattern on switching speed can be understood in terms of a dynamic exchange interaction of thermally excited spins; the coherent modulation of the spins is strongly dependent on the rise time of switching pulses.

  • The purpose of present study is to investigate for reducing pressure fluctuations in the case of installing the air-shafts on the side wall of the tunnel with small cross-sectional area on conventional line. Experiments were performed with a 1/61-scale moving model rig for the tunnel of 0.764 km length in the condition of tunnel cross-section area of $28 m^2$. According to the results, the maximum pressure fluctuation is reduced by 45 % for 19 air-shafts. This results have the speed-up effects of about 33.4 km/h for the train running in tunnel.

  • An optical transmitter, which is a key component of the optical transmission system, converts the electrical signal to optical signal and consists of a high-speed current-pulse driver for laser diode and low-speed feedback loops that stabilize optical power against aging, power supply voltage fluctuations, and ambient temperature changes. In this paper, the power-stabilizing part, which forms the bulk of the optical transmitter circuitry was designed in integrted circuits. Operational amplifiers and reference voltage generation circuits, which were identified as key building blocks for the power-stabilizing feedback loops, were designed and were subsequently verified through HSPICE simulations. The designed operational amplifier consists of a two-stage folded cascode amplifier and class AB output stage, whereas the reference voltage is obtained by bandgap reference circuits. Finally the power-stabilizing circuitry was laid out based on 3\mu$m CMOS design rules for fabrication.

  • This manuscript illustrates the comparative study between ARIMA and Exponential Smoothing modeling to develop forest fire forecasting system using different weather parameters. In this paper, authors have developed the most suitable and closest forecasting models like ARIMA and Exponential Smoothing techniques using different weather parameters. Authors have considered the extremes of the Wind speed, Radiation, Maximum Temperature and Deviation Temperature of the Summer Season form March to June month for the Ranchi Region in Jharkhand. The data is taken by own resource with the help of Automatic Weather Station. This paper consists a deep study of the effect of extreme values of the different parameters on the weather fluctuations which creates forest fires in the region. In this paper, the numerical illustration has been incorporated to support the present study. Comparative study of different suitable models also incorporated and best fitted model has been tested for these parameters.

  • The variable-frequency type water supply equipment, which adopts the variable-voltage and variable-frequency converter(VVVF converter) to govern automatically the rotating speed of a pump, can save 15-20% of power, as compared with a throttle-controlled pump device or an airpressurized water supply equipment, and is finding a wide application. However, it still has some disadvantages : greater pressure fluctuations during switching over the pump and prolonged low-effeciency running of the pump in the case of small consumption of water. Therefore, it is difficult to apply the equipment to the fire water supply system where the water should not be put into use unless a fire takes place, and the water pressure in pipelines should permanently remain constant. This paper introduces the automatic regulation principle of the variable-frequency type air-pressurized water supply equipment (hereafter referred to as simply BFQS equipment) for dual purposes of daily life and fire control, which combined both technologies of speed governing by a converter and air-pressurized water supplying, then discusses some problems related to automatic control, and finally gives the experimental results of an embodiment-BPQS-100-50 water supply equipment.

  • This paper deals with a ride-through technique for permanent-magnet synchronous generator (PMSG) wind turbine systems using energy storage systems (ESS). A control strategy which consists of current and power control loops for the energy storage systems is proposed. By increasing the generator speed, some portion of the turbine power can be stored in the system inertia. Therefore, the required energy capacity of the ESS can be decreased, which results in a low-cost system. In addition, the power fluctuations due to wind speed variations can be smoothened by controlling the ESS appropriately. The effectiveness of the proposed method is verified not only by the simulation results for a 2[MW] PMSG wind turbine system, but also by the experiment results for a reduced-scale turbine simulator.
