Good performance of spectral-amplitude-coding optical CDMA can be obtained using codes based upon Hadamard matrices, but Hadamard codes have very restrictive code lengths of $2^n$. In this paper a new code family, namely extended Hadamard code, is proposed to relax the code length restriction and the number of simultaneous users. The improved performance of the proposed system is analysed with the consideration of phase-induced intensity noise(PIIN).

A new code structure for spectral-amplitude-coding optical CDMA based upon reconstructed modified double weight codes is proposed. The newly proposed code possesses ideal cross-correlation properties. By using fiber Bragg grating(FBG) in front of optical decoder, we can get the improved performance of the proposed system with the consideration of phase-induced intensity noise(PIIN).

Spectral-amplitude-coding optical CDMA systems using codes based upon Hadamard matrices have very restrictive code lengths of $2^n$ and high phase-induced intensity noise(PIIN). In this paper a new code family, namely modified Hadamard code, is proposed to relax the code length restriction and the number of simultaneous users. The improved performance of the proposed system is analysed with the consideration of noise.
We propose an ultrashort pulse optical code-division multiple-access (O-CDMA) scheme based on a pseudorandom binary M-sequence spectral phase encoding and decoding of coherent mode-locked laser pulses and perform a numerical simulation to analyze its feasibility. We demonstrate the ability to properly decode any of the multiple (eight) 10 Gbit/s users by the matched code selection of the spectral phase decoder. The peak power signal to noise ratio of properly and improperly decoded $8{\times}10 Gb/s$ signals could be greater than 15 for 127 M-sequence coding.
We demonstrate binary spectral phase coded waveform discrimination at 10 GHz for narrow band optical code-division multiple-access (NB-OCDMA) via direct electrical detection without using any optical hard-limiter. Only 9 phase-locked, 10 GHz spaced, spectral lines within a 100 GHz spectral window are used for the phase coding. Considerably high contrast ratio of 5 between signal and multiuser access interference noise can be achieved for $4{\times}10\;G\;pulse/sec$ timing coordinated OCDMA at a simple electrical receiver with 50 GHz bandwidth.

We report high-speed pulse train generation from a relatively low-speed 10-GHz mode-locked laser by means of line-by-line spectral coding. To increase the pulse repetition rate multiplication (RRM) factor, we combine coding schemes for both spectral intensity and phase by placing a simple mask at the coder focal plane. The resulting RRM factor, determined by multiplying the RRM factors of the individual coding schemes, rises as high as 16. To verify the generated pulses, the optical spectra and autocorrelation traces are examined.

The Sinusoidal Transform Coding(STC) is a vocoding scheme based on a sinusoidal model of a speech signal. The low bit-rate speech coding based on sinusoidal model is a method that models and synthesizes speech with fundamental frequency and its harmonic elements, spectral envelope and phase in the frequency region. In this paper, we propose the 2.4kbps low-rate speech coding algorithm using the sinusoidal model of a speech signal. In the proposed coder, the pitch frequency is estimated by choosing the frequency that makes least mean squared error between synthetic speech with all spectrum peaks and speech synthesized with chosen frequency and its harmonics. The spectral envelope is estimated using SEEVOC(Spectral Envelope Estimation VOCoder) algorithm and the discrete all-pole model. The phase information is obtained using the time of pitch pulse occurrence, i.e., the onset time, as well as the phase of the vocal tract system. Experimental results show that the synthetic speech preserves both the formant and phase information of the original speech very well. The performance of the coder has been evaluated in terms of the MOS test based on informal listening tests, and it achieved over the MOS score of 3.1.

In this paper, a new trellis-coded differential unitary space-time modulation (TC-DUSTM) scheme based on amplitude/phase-shift-keying (APSK) signals is proposed. In particular, the design criterion of the trellis coding is proposed to combine the trellis coding and DUSTM scheme based on APSK constellation. From the computer simulations, we verify the superiority of the proposed TC-DUSTM based on APSK signals at the higher transmission rate. In addition, the proposed scheme can suppress the irreducible error of the differential scheme.
We proposed a spatial modulation (SM) scheme to improve spectral efficiency of multi-input multi output (MIMO) systems by using double multi-strata space-time codes (D-MSSTC). For improving the performance of proposed scheme, we allocate transmit power and phase to layers in each MSSTC, and assign rotation angle to SM codebooks. Additionally, we jointly optimize power, phase and rotation angle to maximize the minimum coding gain distance of D-MSSTC-SM. It is observed that the proposed scheme shows better error performance with high spectral efficiency than conventional schemes in simulation results.

Spectral Amplitude Coding Optical Code Division Multiple Access (SAC OCDMA) is an advanced technique in asynchronous environments. This paper proposes design and implementation of a novel quantum logic gate (QLG) code, with code construction algorithm generated without following any code mapping procedures for SAC system. The proposed code has a unitary matrices property with maximum overlap of one chip for various clients and no overlaps in spectra for the rest of the subscribers. Results indicate that a single algorithm produces the same length increment for codes with weight greater than two and follows the same signal to noise ratio (SNR) and bit error rate (BER) calculations for a higher number of users. This paper further examines the performance of a QLG code based SAC-OCDMA system with NAND and direct detection techniques. BER analysis was carried out for the proposed code and results were compared with existing MDW, RD and GMP codes. We demonstrate that the QLG code based system performs better in terms of cardinality, which is followed by improved BER. Numerical analysis reveals that for error free transmission (10-9), the suggested code supports approximately 170 users with code weight 4. Our results also conclude that the proposed code provides improvement in the code construction, cross-correlation and minimization of noises.
