단거리 차량용 초광대역 레이더 송신기의 스펙트럼 분석 (Spectrum Analysis of UWB Radar Transmitter for Short Range Automobile Applications)

  • In this paper, we propose structures and power spectral densities of UWB radar transmitters of Short Range Automobile. While the conventional transmitters did not consider interferences from self and other automobiles, the proposed method of this paper can minimize interferences. First, we compare a structure of the proposed method with pulse train and pulse compression method. Then, by using mathematical analysis and computer simulations, we show that the proposed method is superior to others. Also we can set proper parameters in UWB radar's transmitter through the numerical method of mathematical results.

CFD prediction of vortex induced vibrations and fatigue assessment for deepwater marine risers

  • Using 3D computational fluid dynamics techniques in recent years have shed significant light on the Vortex Induced Vibrations (VIV) encountered by deep-water marine risers. The fatigue damage accumulated due to these vibrations has posed a great concern to the offshore industry. This paper aims to present an algorithm to predict the crossflow and inline fatigue damage for very long (L/D > $10^3$) marine risers using a Finite-Analytical Navier-Stokes (FANS) technique coupled with a tensioned beam motion solver and rainflow counting fatigue module. Large Eddy Simulation (LES) method has been used to simulate the turbulence in the flow. An overset grid system is employed to mesh the riser geometry and the wake field around the riser. Risers from NDP (2003) and Miami (2006) experiments are used for simulation with uniform, linearly sheared and non-uniform (non-linearly sheared) current profiles. The simulation results including inline and crossflow motion, modal decomposition, spectral densities and fatigue damage rate are compared to the experimental data and useful conclusions are drawn.

  • This paper presents the evaluation of fatigue life for a journal box attached to rolling stock bogie under random dynamic loading condition. Because a journal box was under random dynamic loading conditions, the fatigue life assessment due to these loads requires the analysis considering the multiaxial effect of random dynamic loading. To do this work, the finite element analysis has been conducted to calculate random dynamic response using multiaxial acceleration data. Then, the fatigue life assessment of component has been conducted using vibration fatigue analysis applying the power spectral densities of the responses obtained through the FEA The results of fatigue life assessment were compared to the damage from the strain measurement. This study shows that can be evaluated the fatigue life assessment considering real service condition about a component attached to rolling stock bogie.

Dehydrodivanillin: Multi-dimensional NMR Spectral Studies, Surface Morphology and Electrical Characteristics of Thin Films

  • The complete structural characterization of dehydrodivanillin, an important natural product of interest to the food, cosmetics and aroma industries, has been carried out using multi-dimensional NMR spectroscopic techniques, and its previously $reported^{13}$C-NMR values have been reassigned. Dense and granular thin films of dehydrodivanillin have been grown by sublimation under high vacuum and studied using Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM), electrical and optical techniques. The transmittance spectra of the films indicate a wide optical band gap of more than 3 eV. Typical J-V characteristics of Glass/ITO/dehydrodivanillin/Al structure exhibited moderate current densities ${\sim}10^{-4}\;A/cm^2$ at voltages > 25 V with an appreciable SCLC mobility of the order of $10^{-6}\;cm^2$/V-s.

원자로음분석에 의한 원내동발생 요 (A Study of Reactor Internal Dynamics by Reactor Noise Analysis)

  • Reactor dynamics were studied by reactor noise at TRIGA MARK Il reactor whose rated power is 250KW thermal. The power spectral densities(PSD) of the noise were measured by stochastic method with high resolution digital filters and Fast Fourier Transformers. The transfer function of the reactor at zero power was identical to the theoretical characteristics. When the power was increasec above 1KW, reactor showed its poswer resonances at 3Hz and 10 Hz. It was analyzed that 3Hz peak was generated by heat transfer and coolant flow effects and 10Hz peak by nuclear reaction effects.

Random loading identification of multi-input-multi-output structure

  • Random loading identification has long been a difficult problem for Multi-Input-Multi-Output (MIMO) structure. In this paper, the Pseudo Excitation Method (PEM), which is an exact and efficient method for computing the structural random response, is extended inversely to identify the excitation power spectral densities (PSD). This identified method, named the Inverse Pseudo Excitation Method (IPEM), resembles the general dynamic loading identification in the frequency domain, and can be used to identify the definite or random excitations of complex structures in a similar way. Numerical simulations are used to reveal the the difficulties in such problems, and the results of some numerical analysis are discussed, which may be very useful in the setting up and processing of experimental data so as to obtain reasonable predictions of the input loading from the selected structural responses.

Data analysis of simulated fuel-loaded sea transportation tests under normal conditions of transport

  • In this study, to evaluate the shock and vibration load characteristics of used fuel, a sea transportation test was conducted using simulated fuel assemblies under normal transport conditions. An overall test data analysis was performed based on the measured strain and acceleration data obtained from cruise, rotation, acceleration, braking, depth of water, and rolling tests. In addition, shock response spectrum and power spectral densities were obtained for each test case. Amplification and attenuation characteristics were investigated based on the load path. The load was amplified as it passed from the overpack to the simulated used fuel-assembly. As a result of the RMS trend analysis, the fuel-loading position of the transportation package affected the measured strain in the fuel rod, and the maximum strains were obtained at the spans with large spacing. However, even these maximum strains were very small compared to the fatigue strength and the cladding yield strength. Moreover, the fuel rods located on the side exhibited a larger strain value than those at the center.

Different Types of Active Region EUV Bright Points by Hinode/EIS

  • We have investigated seven Extreme-Ultraviolet (EUV) bright points in the active region (AR 10926) on 2006 December 2 by the EUV imaging spectrometer (EIS) onboard Hinode spacecraft. We determined their Doppler velocities and non-thermal velocities from 15 EUV spectral lines (log T=4.7-7.2) by fitting each line profile to a Gaussian function. We present the Doppler velocity map as a function of temperature which corresponds to a different height. As a result, these active region bright points show two different types of characteristics. Type 1 bright point shows a systematic increase of Doppler velocity from -68 km/s (blue shift) at log T=4.7 to 27 km/s (red shift) at log T=6.7, while type 2 bright points have Doppler velocities in the range of -20 km/s and 20 km/s. Using MDI magnetograms, we found that only type 1 bright point was associated with the canceling magnetic feature at the rate of $2.4{\times}10^{18}$ Mx/hour. When assuming that these bright points are caused by magnetic reconnection and the Doppler shift indicates reconnection out flow, the pattern of the Doppler shift implies that type 1 bright point should be related to low atmosphere magnetic reconnection. We also determined electron densities from line ratio as well as temperatures from emission measure loci using CHIANTI atomic database. The electron densities of all bright points are comparable to typical values of active regions (log Ne=9.9-10.4). For the temperature analysis, the emission loci plots indicate that these bright points should not be isothermal though background is isothermal. The DEM analysis also show that while the background has a single peak distribution (isothermal), the EUV bright points, double peak distributions.

Gas dynamics and star formation in NGC 6822

  • We examine gas kinematics and star formation activities of NGC 6822, a gas-rich dwarf irregular galaxy in the Local Group at a distance of ~490 kpc. We perform profile decomposition of all the line-of-sight (LOS) HI velocity profiles of the high-resolution (42.4" × 12" spatial; 1.6 km/s spectral) HI data cube of the galaxy, taken with the Australian Telescope Compact Array (ATCA). To this end, we use a novel tool based on Bayesian Markov Chain Monte Carlo (MCMC) techniques, the so-called BAYGAUD, which allows us to decompose a velocity profile into an optimal number of Gaussian components in a quantitative manner. We group all the decomposed components into bulk-narrow, bulk-broad, and non-bulk gas components classified with respect to their velocity dispersions and the amounts of velocity offset from the global kinematics, respectively. Using the surface densities and velocity dispersions of the kinematically decomposed HI gas maps together with the rotation curve of NGC 6822, we derive Toomre-Q parameters for individual regions of the galaxy which quantify the level of local gravitational instability of the gaseous disk. We also measure the local star formation rate (SFR) of the corresponding regions in the galaxy by combining GALEX Far-ultraviolet (FUV) and WISE 22㎛ images. We then relate the gas and SFR surface densities in order to investigate the local Kennicutt-Schmidt (K-S) law of gravitationally unstable regions which are selected from the Toomre Q analysis. Of the three groups, the bulk-narrow, bulk-broad and non-bulk gas components, we find that the lower Toomre-Q values the bulk-narrow gas components have, the more consistent with the linear extension of the K-S law derived from molecular hydrogen (H2) observations.

Fuyo-1 OPS 자료를 이용한 낙동강 하류지역의 환경계측 시고 (A Pilot Study on Environmental Understanding and Estimation of the Nak-Dong River Basin Using Fuyo-1 OPS Data)

  • 본 연구는 낙동강 하류지역의 지속가능한 개발과 환경보전을 위하여 위성탑재 Fuyo-1 OPS VNIR 주사자료에 의한 겨울철 환경계측을 시범·고찰하였다 따라서 그림자 효과가 강하게 발생하는 산림에 대해 방향성 분광반사특성과 식생지수를 중점분석하고 분광각대응분류를 통하여 겨울철 토지피복도를 산출하였다. 그리고 해·담수 분포도와 낙동강 하류의 수질오염도를 작성하기 위하여 가림기법, 최대우도추정분류기, 그리고 유색밀도편분기법을 응용하였다. 본 연구에서 획득된 결과를 요약하면 첫째로 양지사면의 분광반사치와 식생지수값 모두 음지사면보다 높다. 둘째로 위장반사현상이 일어나는 지역을 주제별 분류를 할 경우 분광각대응분류 산법이 유용하다 셋째로 겨울철 낮은 태양고도에도 해·담수분포도를 산출하는데 최대우도추정분류산법이 적합하다. 넷째로 근적외선밴드를 사용하여 가림·유색밀도편분기법에 의해 산출된 수질오염 도는 낙동강의 수질상태를 분석할 수 있다. 마지막으로 유색코드 정규식생지수 화상은 사면방위에 따른 임관밀도를 파악하는데 이용된다.
