Orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) is a modulation technique that allows the transmission of high data rates over wideband radio channels subject to frequency selective fading by dividing the data into several narrowband and flat fading channels. OFDM has high spectral efficiency and channel robustness. However, a major drawback of OFDM is that the peak-to-average power ratio (PAPR) of the transmitted signals is high, which causes nonlinear distortion in the received data and reduces the efficiency of the high power amplifier in the transmitter. The most straightforward method to solve this problem is to use a nonlinear mapping algorithm to transform the signal into a new signal that has a smaller PAPR. One of the latest nonlinear methods proposed to reduce the PAPR is the $L_2$-by-3 algorithm, which is based on the discrete sliding norm transform. In this paper, a new algorithm based on the $L_2$-by-3 method is proposed. The proposed method is very simple and has a low complexity analysis. Simulation results show that the proposed method performs better, has better power spectral density, and is less sensitive to the modulation type and number of subcarriers than $L_2$-by-3.
A novel power amplifier for a polar transmitter is proposed to achieve better spectral performance for a wideband envelope signal. In the proposed scheme, 2-bit sigma-delta (${\Sigma}{\Delta}$) modulation of the envelope signal is introduced, and the power amplifier configuration is modified in a binary form to accommodate the 2-bit digitized envelope signals. The 2-bit ${\Sigma}{\Delta}$ modulator lowers the noise of the envelope signal by fine quantization and thus enhances the spectral property of the RF signal. The Ptolemy simulation results of the proposed structure show that the spectral noise is reduced by 10 dB in a full transmit band of the EDGE system. The dynamic range is also enhanced. Since the performance is improved without increasing the over-sampling ratio, this technique is best suited for wireless communication with high data rates.
To satisfy the demand for small size, light weight. high density power supply, the switching frequency of DC/DC converters has been increased. The PWM control of the conventional SMPS have a switching frequency that a level of the conducted noise spectra contribute to switching frequency band. So the electronic equipment is not only affected from that but is restricted to internal regulation like CISPR, FCC, and VDE. In this paper, we analyzed Bi-FM. Bi-FM is two fixed switching frequency with a modulation frequency. So emission spectrum of Bi-FM control signal is spreaded and spectral power level is reduced. In this paper, we analyze the spectral analysis of Bi-FM control signal and the spectral comparison between the PWM control and Bi-FM control. And we confirm that reduced the spectrum power level through simulation using Pspice and experiment.

High spectral efficiency can be obtained by adaptive modulation in which the modulation scheme is changed according to the channel environment. Thus it is especially suitable to mobile channel which is a typical example of time-varying channel. It is required to determine the optimum thresholds of signal-to-noise ratio(SNR) to change the modulation scheme effectively according to mobile speeds. Thus the optimum thresholds for specific mobile speeds to get the required bit error rate(BER) of $10^{-6}$ are obtained with the powerful turbo code in this paper. In addition, the optimum thresholds for the continuous mobile speed are proposed by interpolation of the obtained results. And the error performance and average spectral efficiency are investigated at various mobile speeds and channel environments.

Various approaches directly using vibrations of speakers have been suggested to effectively display the aural information such as the music to the hearing-impaired or the deaf. However, in these approaches, the human can't sense the frequency information over the maximum perceivable vibro-tactile frequency (around 1kHz). Therefore, in this study, an approach via spectral modulation of compressing the high frequency audio information into perceivable vibro-tactile frequency domain and outputting the modulated signals through the designated speakers is proposed. Then it is shown, through simulations of using Short-Time Fourier Transform (STFT) with Hanning windows and through preliminary experiments of using the vibro-tactile display testbed which is built and interfaced with a notebook PC, that the modulated signal of a natural sound composing sounds of a frog, a bird, and a water stream could produce the noise-free signal suitable enough for vibro-tactile speakers without causing Significant interfering disturbances, Lastly, for three different combinations of information provided to the subject, that is, i) with only video image, ii) with video image along with the modulated vibro-tactile stimuli as proposed in this study to the forearm of the subject, and iii) with video image along with full audio information, the effects to the human sense of reality and his emotion to given audio-video clips including various sounds and images are investigated and compared. It is shown from results of those experiments that the proposed method of providing modulated vibro-tactile stimuli along with the video images to the human has very high feasibility to transmit pseudo-aural sense to the human.

Differential spatial modulation uses the antenna index to transmit information, which improves the spectral efficiency, and completely bypasses any channel side information in the recommended setting. A generalized distributed multiple turbo coded-cooperative differential spatial modulation based on distributed multiple turbo code is put forward and its performances in Rayleigh fading channels is analyzed. The generalized distributed multiple turbo coded-cooperative differential spatial modulation scheme is a coded-cooperation communication scheme, in which we proposed a new joint parallel iterative decoding method. Moreover, the code matched interleaver is considered to be the best choice for the generalized multiple turbo coded-cooperative differential spatial modulation schemes, which is the key factor of turbo code. Monte Carlo simulated results show that the proposed cooperative differential spatial modulation scheme is better than the corresponding non-cooperative scheme over Rayleigh fading channels in multiple input and output communication system under the same conditions. In addition, the simulation results show that the code matched interleaver scheme gets a better diversity gain as compared to the random interleaver.

A new data-driven method for the design of a blind modulation frequency filter that suppresses the slow-varying noise components is proposed. The proposed method is based on the temporal local decorrelation of the feature vector sequence, and is done on an utterance-by-utterance basis. Although the conventional modulation frequency filtering approaches the same form regardless of the task and environment conditions, the proposed method can provide an adaptive modulation frequency filter that outperforms conventional methods for each utterance. In addition, the method ultimately performs channel normalization in a feature domain with applications to log-spectral parameters. The performance was evaluated by speaker-independent isolated-word recognition experiments under additive noise environments. The proposed method achieved outstanding improvement for speech recognition in environments with significant noise and was also effective in a range of feature representations.
The MTF(modulation transfer function) measuring system with a linear CCD(charge coupled-device) was constructed to cvaluate a color CRT(catode ray tube). The measured MTF values were corrected by considering the spectral response and the pixel sizes of CCD. The effects of a spot size, video bandwidth, pitch of shadow mask holes, display luminance, and ambient illumination on image quality were studied. The uniformity of resolution and the contrast Ioss by ambient light of the color CRT monitor were measured, and the results were analyzed by MTFA(modulation threshold area).
In this paper, we mainly analyze the performance of two ultra wideband communication systems, the classical Time Hopping Binary Pulse Position Modulation (TH-BPPM) UWB system and the Time Hopping Bipolar Pulse Amplitude Modulation (TH-BPAM) UWB system. The performance of TH-BPPM and TH-BPAM is analyzed in detail under an ideal AWGN channel and a correlation receiver. We use the power spectral density function to get the expression of BER of these two UWB systems. It yields simple and exact formulas relating the performance to the system parameters. The analysis shows that TH-BPPM suffers performance degradation with respect to TH-BPAM. Furthermore, we give the computer simulation of both data and image transmission and our simulation results also prove our theoretical analysis.
The F-GAMMA (FERMI-GST AGN Multi-frequency Monitoring Alliance) project is a program for the monthly monitoring of the broad-band spectra of currently about 90 selected Fermi-GST AGNs. F-GAMMA utilizes several facilities in cm, mm, sub-mm, infrared and optical bands, achieving an unprecedented coverage for the study of the spectral evolution of powerful relativistic jets in AGNs. The KVN joined the F-GAMMA project in May 2011, aiming to monitor flux density at 22 and 43 GHz. We present the preliminary results of flux density variability, evolution of spectral index, and modulation index.
