Multi-Spectral Camera(MSC) is a main payload on the KOMPSAT-2 satellite to perform the earth remote sensing. The MSC instrument has one(1) channel for panchromatic imaging and four(4) channel for multi-spectral imaging covering the spectral range from 450nm to 900nm using TDI CCD Focal Plane Array (FPA). The compression method on KOMPSAT-2 MSC was selected and used to match EOS input rate and PDTS output data rate on MSC image data chain. At once the MSC performance was carefully handled to minimize any degradation so that it was analyzed and restored in KGS(KOMPSAT Ground Station) during LEOP and Cal./Val.(Calibration and Validation) phase. In this paper, on-orbit image data chain in MSC and image data processing on KGS including general MSC description is briefly described. The influences on image performance between on-board compression algorithms and between performance restoration methods in ground station are analyzed and discussed.
Outlier detection refers to the task of detecting data that deviate significantly from the normal data distribution. Most outlier detection methods compute an outlier score which indicates the degree to which a data sample deviates from normal. However, setting a threshold for an outlier score to determine if a data sample is outlier or normal is not trivial. In this paper, we propose a binary prediction method for outlier detection based on spectral clustering and one-class SVM ensemble. Given training data consisting of normal data samples, a clustering method is performed to find clusters in the training data, and the ensemble of one-class SVM models trained on each cluster finds the boundaries of the normal data. We show how to obtain a threshold for transforming outlier scores computed from the ensemble of one-class SVM models into binary predictive values. Experimental results with high dimensional text data show that the proposed method can be effectively applied to high dimensional data, especially when the normal training data consists of different shapes and densities of clusters.
In recent years, the hyperspectral instruments with high spatial and high spectral resolution have become an important component of wide variety of earth science applications. The primary mission of the proposed Compact Airborne Imaging Spectrometer System (CAISS) in this study is to acquire and provide full contiguous spectral information with high quality spectral and spatial resolution for advanced applications in the field of remote sensing. The CAISS will also be used as the vicarious calibration equipment for the cross-calibration of satellite image data. The CAISS consists of six physical units: the camera system, the Jig, the GPS/INS, the gyro-stabilized mount, the operating system, and the power inverter and distributor. Additionally, the calibration instruments such as the integrated sphere and spectral lamps are also prepared for the radiometric and spectral calibration of the CAISS. The CAISS will provide high quality calibrated image data that can support evaluation of satellite application products. This paper summarizes the design, development and major characteristic of the CAISS.
K-means clustering uses a spherical or elliptical metric to group data points; however, it does not work well for non-convex data such as the concentric circles. Spectral clustering, based on graph theory, is a generalized and robust technique to deal with non-standard type of data such as non-convex data. Results obtained by spectral clustering often outperform traditional clustering such as K-means. In this paper, we review spectral clustering and show important issues in spectral clustering such as determining the number of clusters K, estimation of scale parameter in the adjacency of two points, and the dimension reduction technique in clustering high-dimensional data.

Water-methanol and water-acetonitrile mixtures are frequently used as HPLC solvent system and strong hydrogen bonding is well-known. But a detailed aspect of water-methanol and/or water-acetonitrile mixtures have not been shown with direct spectral evidence. Recently, near infrared spectroscopy and chemometric data refinery have been successfully combined in many applications. On the basis of factor analytical methods, the spectral features of water-methanol and water-acetonitrile mixtures were studied to reveal the detail of mixtures. Water-methanol and water-acetonitrile mixtures were prepared with varying concentration of each constituent and near infrared spectral data were acquired in the range of 1100-2500nm with 2-nm interval. The data matrices were analysed with ITTFA(Iterative Target Transform Factor Analysis) algorithm implemented as MATLAB codes. As a result, the concentration profiles of water, methanol and water-methanol complex were resolved and the spectra of water-methanol complexes were calculated, which cannot be acquired with pure complexes. A similar result was obtained with NIR spectral data of water-acetonitrile mixtures. Moreover, pure spectra of hydrogen-bonding complexes of water-methanol and water-acetonitrile can be computed, while any other usual physical methods cannot isolated those complexes for acquiring pure component spectra.
Unsupervised classification is an important area of research in image processing because supervised classification has the disadvantages such as long task-training time and high cost and low objectivity in training information. This paper focuses on unsupervised classification, which can extract ground object information with the minimum 'Spectral Angle Distance' operation on be behalf of 'Spectral Euclidian Distance' in the clustering process. Unlike previous studies, our algorithm uses the unit vector, not the spectral distance, to compute the cluster mean, and the Single-Pass algorithm automatically determines the seed points. Atmospheric correction for more accurate results was adapted on the Hyperion data and the results were analyzed. We applied the algorithm to the Hyperion and ETM+ data and compared the results with K-Means and the former USAM algorithm. From the result, USAM classified the water and dark forest area well and gave more accurate results than K-Means, so we believe that the 'Spectral Angle' can be one of the most accurate classifiers of not only multispectral images but hyperspectral images. And also the unit vector can be an efficient technique for characterizing the Remote Sensing data.

Researchers seeking geological and environmental information, depend on remote sensing and aerial photographic datum from various commercial satellites and aircraft. However, adverse weather conditions as well as equipment expense limit the ability to collect data anywhere and anytime. To allow for better flexibility in geological and environmental data collection, we have developed a compact, multi-spectral automatic Aerial Photographic system (PKNU2). This system's Multi-spectral camera can record visible (RGB) and infrared (NIR) band (3032*2008 Pixels) images Visible and infrared band images were obtained from each camera respectively and produced color-infrared composite images to be analyzed for the purpose of the environmental monitoring. However this did not provide quality data. Furthermore, it has the disadvantage of having the stereoscopic overlap area being 60% unsatisfied due to the 12 seconds of storage time of each data The PKNU2 system in contrast, photographed photos of great capacity Thus, with such results, we have been proceeding to develop the advanced PKNU2 (PKNU3) system that consists of a color-infrared spectral camera that can photograph in the visible and near-infrared bands simultaneously using a single sensor, a thermal infrared camera, two 40G computers to store images, and an MPEG board that can compress and transfer data to the computer in real time as well as be able to be mounted onto a helicopter platform.

This study attempts to classify forest species using hyperspectral data for supporting resources management. The primary dataset used was AISA sensor. The sensor was mounted onboard the NOMAD GAF-27 aircraft at 2,000 m altitude creating a 2 m spatial resolution on the ground. Pre-processing was carried out with CALIGEO software, which automatically corrects for both geometric and radiometric distortions of the raw image data. The radiance data set was then converted to at-sensor reflectance derived from the FODIS sensor. Spectral Angle Mapper (SAM) technique was used for image classification. The spectra libraries for tree species were established after confirming the appropriate match between field spectra and pixel spectra. Results showed that the highest spectral signature in NIR range were Kembang Semangkok (Scaphium macropodum), followed by Meranti Sarang Punai (Shorea parvifolia) and Chengal (Neobalanocarpus hemii). Meanwhile, the lowest spectral response were Kasai (Pometia pinnata), Kelat (Eugenia spp.) and Merawan (Hopea beccariana), respectively. The overall accuracy obtained was 79%. Although the accuracy of SAM techniques is below the expectation level, SAM classifier was able to classify tropical tree species. In future it is believe that the most effective way of ground data collection is to use the ground object that has the strongest response to sensor for more significant tree signatures.
Near infrared(NIR) spectral data have been used for the noninvasive analysis of various biological samples. Nonetheless, absorption bands of NIR region are overlapped extensively. It is very difficult to select the proper wavelengths of spectral data, which give the best PCR(principal component regression) models for the analysis of constituents of biological samples. The NIR data were used after polynomial smoothing and differentiation of 1st order, using Savitzky-Golay filters. To find the best PCR models, all-possible combinations of available principal components from the given NIR spectral data were derived by in-house programs written in MATLAB codes. All of the extensively generated PCR models were compared in terms of SEC(standard error of calibration), $R^2$, SEP(standard error of prediction) and SECP(standard error of calibration and prediction) to find the best combination of principal components of the initial PCR models. The initial PCR models were found by SEC or Malinowski's indicator function and a priori selection of spectral points were examined in terms of correlation coefficients between NIR data at each wavelength and corresponding concentrations. For the test of the developed program, aqueous solutions of BSA(bovine serum albumin) and glucose were prepared and analyzed. As a result, the best PCR models were found using a priori selection of spectral points and the final model selection by SEP or SECP.

In multi-view subspace clustering, how to integrate the complementary information between perspectives to construct a unified representation is a critical problem. In the existing works, the unified representation is usually constructed in the original data space. However, when the data representation in each view is very diverse, the unified representation derived directly in the original data domain may lead to a huge information loss. To address this issue, different to the existing works, inspired by the latest revelation that the data across all perspectives have a very similar or close spectral block structure, we try to construct the unified representation in the spectral embedding domain. In this way, the complementary information across all perspectives can be fused into a unified representation with little information loss, since the spectral block structure from all views shares high consistency. In addition, to capture the global structure of data on each view with high accuracy and robustness both, we propose a novel low-rank approximation via the tight lower bound on the rank function. Finally, experimental results prove that, the proposed method has the effectiveness and robustness at the same time, compared with the state-of-art approaches.
