In accordance with the increased usage of reinforcing materials such as carbon fibers and glass fibers, delamination detection between concrete and the reinforcing material is needed as such delaminations may be a major cause for strength reduction or failure of a structure. In this work, 15 GHz center frequency with 10 GHz band width horn antenna was used to detect delamination between concrete and carbon fibers or glass fibers. The specimens measured $600\;(length)\;{\times}\;600\;(width)\;{\times}\;100\;(thickness)\;mm$, and glass fibers and carbon fibers with a thickness of 1.5 mm were attached on the specimens' surfaces using epoxy. In addition, artificial delaminations of size $50\;(length)\;{\times}\;50\;(width)\;mm$ were placed in the middle of the specimen with thickness of 2, 4, 6 mm respectively together with a 2 mm delamination projecting upwards from the surface of the concrete. Therefore a total of 8 specimens were used, 4 specimens for glass fiber reinforced concrete and 4 for carbon fiber reinforced concrete, containing delaminations as described above. The experiment results were derived by using the difference of area under the curved graph. According to experimental results artifical delaminations were identified in both fiber reinforced and carbon reinforced specimens and these results could contribute to further development of delamination detection technology.
The study area, Beulgok-myon Nonsan-goon Chungcheongnan-do is consist of Changri slate(Och, okcheon system), lithic tuff(Kslt, kyoungsang system), granite (Kqb, kyoungsang system) and quartz porphyry(Kgf, kyoungsang system). More than 3000 joints were measured and classified by direction. Main dipdirection/dips of Kqb are 228~257/73~88, 010~150/70~85, Och are 134~164/40~90, 214~249/55~89, Kslt are 291~332/75~82, 235~241/73~71. But Kgf are not appeared distinct directions of joint. In field, p-wave velocities(Vp) are measured on the bed rock. Vp of Kgf are $5000m(240^{\circ})~2380(360^{\circ})m/s$, Kqb are $3846(210^{\circ})~1408(150^{\circ})m/s$, Kslt are $5000(360^{\circ})~2323(150^{\circ})m/s$ and Och are $6657(180^{\circ})~2000(030^{\circ})m/s$. Also P-wave velocities on specimen are measured. It is slightely higher than it's measured on the bed rock. For engineering properties of rock, we measured Poisson's ratio, rigidity, Young's modulus and bulk modulus by dynamic method.
The purpose of this study is to investigate the scattered dose of X-ray at a distance of 30cm from the area to be examined when X-ray field is the most optimized and maximized when X-ray is performed on hand, skull and abdomen. As a result of scattered dose of X-ray on hand, skull and abdomen, first, when X-ray field was the most optimized upon adult X-ray examination, it was $0.08{\mu}Sv$, $4.39{\mu}Sv$ and $5.56{\mu}Sv$, respectively. When x-ray field was maximized, it was $0.58{\mu}Sv$, $33.47{\mu}Sv$ and $35.93{\mu}Sv$, respectively. Second, when X-ray field was the most optimized upon pediatric X-ray examination, it was $0.40{\mu}Sv$, $14.51{\mu}Sv$ and $18.86{\mu}Sv$, respectively. When x-ray field was maximized, it was $2.78{\mu}Sv$, $107.40{\mu}Sv$ and $117.52{\mu}Sv$, respectively(P<0.001). As a result, when the size of X-ray field was decreased down to be necessary and optimal upon X-ray examination, emission of scattered X-ray around specimen is reduced approximately 6-7 times as much as that when it was maximized.
A scaled version of a roller rig is developed to demonstrate the dynamic characteristics of a railway vehicle for academic purposes. This rig is designed based on Jaschinski's similarity law. It is scaled to 1/10 of actual size and allows 9-DOF motion to examine the up and down vibration of a train set. The test rig consists of three sub-hardware components: (i) a driving roller mechanism with a three-phase AC motor and an inverter, (ii) a bogie structure with first and second suspensions, and (iii) the vehicle body. The motor of the rig is capable of 3,600rpm, allowing the test to simulate a vehicle up to a maximum speed of 400Km/hr. Because bearings and joints are properly connected to the sub-structures, various motion analyses, such as a lateral, pitching, and yawing motion, are allowed. The slip motion between the rail and the wheel set is also monitored by several sensors mounted in the rig. After the construction of the hardware, an experiment is conducted to obtain the natural frequencies of the dynamic behavior of the specimen. First, the test rig is run and data are collected from six sets of accelerometers. Then, a numerical analysis of the model based on the ADAMS program is derived. Finally, the measurement data of the first three fundamental frequencies are compared to the analytical result and the validation of the test rig is conducted. The results show that the developed roller rig provides good accuracy in simulating the dynamic behavior of the vehicle motion. Although the roller rig designed in this paper is intended for academia, it can easily be implemented as part of a dynamic experiment of a bogie and a vehicle body for a high-speed train as part of the research efforts in this area.

Cobalt-free $La_xSr_{4-x}Fe_6O_{13}$ ($0{\leq}x{\leq}2$) oxide have been synthesized and investigated as a potential cathode material for solid oxide fuel cells (SOFCs). $Sr_4Fe_6O_{13}$ consists of alternating perovskite layers ($Sr_4Fe_2O_8$) containing iron cations in octahedral oxygen coordination and $Fe_4O_5$ layers where iron cations have 5-fold coordination of two types-square pyramids and trigonal bipyramids. Our preliminary electrochemical testes of pristine $Sr_4Fe_6O_{13}$ show a rather high area specific resistance ($0.47{\Omega}cm^2$ at $700^{\circ}C$) for ~20 ${\mu}m$ thick layers with CGO electrolyte. The electrochemical performances are improved by La addition up to x=1 ($La_1Sr_3Fe_6O_{13}$, $0.06{\Omega}cm^2$ at $700^{\circ}C$). In addition, thermal expansion coefficient (TEC) values of $La_1Sr_3Fe_6O_{13}$ specimen demonstrated $15.1{\times}10^{-6}\;^{\circ}C^{-1}$ in the range of 25-900$^{\circ}C$, which provides good thermal expansion compatibility with the CGO electrolyte. An electrolyte supported (300-${\mu}m$-thick) single-cell configuration of $La_1Sr_3Fe_6O_{13}$/CGO/Ni-CGO delivered a maximum power density of 584 $mWcm^{-2}$ at $700^{\circ}C$. In addition, an anode supported single cell by YSZ electrolyte (10-${\mu}m$-thick) with a porous CGO interlayer between the cathode and the electrolyte to avoid undesired interfacial reactions exhibited 1,517 $mWcm^{-2}$ at $800^{\circ}C$. The unique composition of $La_1Sr_3Fe_6O_{13}$ with low thermal expansion coefficient and higher electrochemical properties could be a good cathode candidate for intermediate temperature SOFCs with CGO and YSZ electrolyte.
This study was carried out to confirm the effects of the knife-incising and kerfing pretreatment on the moisture content and surface check occurrence of Douglas-fir heavy timber. In the case of moisture content, the moisture gradient that formed in the inner part of the specimen was observed in all specimens. In addition, the moisture gradient was formed differently from the surface layer to 72 mm depending on the pretreatment conditions, and it was formed gradually in the kerfing than the knife-incising. In addition, it was found that the solid volume should be considered when measuring the average moisture content. In the case of surface check, the surface check occurrence was reduced in the knife-incising, kerfing, and the combination of knife-incising and kerfing than the control. In particular, the kerfing treatment was shown that the expansion of surface check width was effectively suppressed. In the case of knife-incising treatment, although the surface check was less than the control, the preventive effect on the surface check occurrence did not reach the level of the kerfing treatment.

Objectives: Fluorine-18 fluorodeoxyglucose positron emission tomography ($^{18}F$-FDG PET) is a non-invasive diagnostic tool for many human cancers wherein glucose uptake transporter-1 (GLUT-1) acts as a main transporter in the uptake of $^{18}F$-FDG in cancer cells. Increased expression of glucose transporter-1 has been reported in many human cancers. In this study, we investigated the correlation between $^{18}F$-FDG accumulation and expression of GLUT-1 in oral cancer. Materials and Methods: We evaluated 42 patients diagnosed with oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC) and malignant salivary gland tumor as confirmed by histology. 42 patients underwent pre-operative $^{18}F$-FDG PET, with the maximum standardized uptake value ($SUV_{max}$) measured in each case. Immunohistochemical staining was done for each histological specimen, and results were evaluated post-operatively according to the percentage (%) of positive area, intensity, and staining score. Results: For OSCC, $SUV_{max}$ significantly increased as T stage of tumor classification increased. For malignant salivary gland tumor, $SUV_{max}$ significantly increased as T stage of tumor classification increased. For OSCC, GLUT-1 was expressed in all 36 cases. GLUT-1 staining score (GSS) increased as T stage of tumor classification increased, with the difference statistically significant. For malignant salivary gland tumor, GLUT-1 expression was observed in all 6 cases; average GSS was significantly higher in patients with cervical lymph node metastasis than that in patients without cervical lymph node metastasis. Average GSS was higher in OSCC ($11.11{\pm}1.75$) than in malignant salivary gland tumor ($5.33{\pm}3.50$). No statistically significant correlation between GSS and $SUV_{max}$ was observed in OSCC or in malignant salivary gland tumor. Conclusion: We found no statistically significant correlation between GSS and $SUV_{max}$ in OSCC or in malignant salivary gland tumor. Studies on the various uses of GLUT during $^{18}F$-FDG uptake and SUV and GLUT as tumor prognosis factor need to be conducted through further investigation with large samples.

Gingival fibromatosis is a rare condition characterized by varying degrees of gingival hyperplasia. Gingival fibromatosis usually occurs as an isolated disorder or can be associated with a variety of other syndromes. It usually appears at the time of eruption of permanent dentition but, can develop at the time of eruption of the primary dentition and rarely at birth. It may deform palatal contour and subsequently restrict the tongue movement, resulting in interference during speech and mastication. In addition, it incapacitates maintenance of normal lip closure. A 14-month-old girl visited the department of pediatric dentistry, Yonsei University Dental Hospital, for the congenital gingival overgrowth. There was no one in the family, who showed similar pattern of gingival growth. The intraoral clinical examination revealed generalized severe gingival enlargement throughout the maxillary and the mandibular arches. Enlarged gingival tissue was pink and had firm consistency. She was referred for chromosomal analysis, which confirmed absence of any known syndrome. Under local anesthesia, "Punch-biopsy" was performed on the labial area, and the specimen was histologically diagnosed as gingival fibromatosis. For she did not have any medical problem nor familiar history, she was diagnosed as having idiopathic gingival fibromatosis. Regarding her age and behavior, close follow-up was decided.
The purpose of this contribution is to develop the framework of a methodology for identifying potential errors in georeferencing and in an application of it using specimens of Ox-Knee, Achyranthes bidentata Blume in Korea. At infraspecific level, uncertainty of identification showed that 41% of A. bidentata var. japonica and 28% of var. bidentata were misidentified, suggesting that the uncertainty level was independent of the reliability of experts' identification. For georeference specimen records, 71 specimens out of total 303 were selected and utilized as occurrence data: Uncertainty was 32.4 km at maximum and was 0.1297 km at minimum (mean = 4,055 m, s.d. = 5,772 m). Var. japonica is common throughout most of the southeastern Korea and west coastal areas, while var. bidentata has been found as far north as Gyeonggi and Gangwon provinces. We modelled the potential distribution of two varieties using Bioclim approach in Korea based on several environmental factors. Our results indicated the most important region for var. japonica lies the west coast ranges and southern area, while for Chungcheongnam-do of potential high diversity occurs for var. bidentata. This study shows that the major factors to determine the distribution patterns of two varieties were thermal factors, rather than precipitation. The Bioclim model using geocode and georeferencing data makes the information increasingly useful and reliable. To improve data quality, it requires full management from data collection to final databases including data cleaning.

Green tobacco sickness (GTS) is known as an occupational disease among tobacco harvesters, and a form of acute nicotine intoxication by the absorption of nicotine through the skin from the wet green tobacco plant. On the assumption that GTS may occur by inhalation as well as absorption of nicotine, we measured the airborne nicotine concentration in tobacco field and the processing room of tobacco leaves. We measured the airborne nicotine concentrations in the tobacco field and processing room between 13 and 30 July 2008. All sampling and analyses of airborne nicotine were conducted according to the manual of analytic methods of NIOSH 2551, and we sampled 2 times at 11 points in the tobacco field by area sampling. The sampling in the processing room of tobacco leaves was conducted at 3 points, and earlymorning dew was collected from the tobacco by wringing the moisture into specimen bottles. The airborne nicotine concentration [geometric mean (geometric standard deviation)] in the tobacco field in the P.M. was higher [49.2 mg/$m^3$ (1.3)] than the A.M. concentration [43.4 mg/$m^3$ (1.4)]. Similarly, the nicotine concentration in the processing room of tobacco leaves was 224.4 mg/$m^3$ (1.2), and the concentration of nicotine in the dew was 64.7 mg/${\ell}$ (1.7). Based on our results, the airborne nicotine concentration in the tobacco field and the processing room of tobacco leaves were 100 and 400 times higher than the occupational recommended values (TLV-TWA of 0.5 mg/$m^3$), respectively. In the future, it is hoped that epidemiologic studies and environmental measurements will be conducted for GTS which occurs by inhalation of nicotine. If GTS is confirmed to occur by inhalation of nicotine, respiratory and dermal protective equipment must be distributed.
