This research was carried out to evaluate the possible usage of natural clay materials collected from the Kimpo landfill site and nearby clay mines as a clay liner material. In order to evaluate the possible usage as a clay liner material, specific gravity, pH, loss-on-ignition, organic carbon content and mineralogical composition of clay materials were measured. The Atterberg limit test and the size analysis were performed for the engineering classification and the prediction of hydraulic conductivity of clay materials. Caution exchange capacity and batch tests were also carried out for the assessment of attenuation capacity. Clay specimens of KPNCL, KP-1, KP-2 and SH were recommended as suitable clay linder materials from viewpoint of their basic quality and attenuation capacity.
The use of isolated wine yeasts in winemaking processes is preferable to spontaneous fermentation. Selection criteria of wine yeast strains depend also on capacity and rate of fermentation and on alcohologenic capabilities. Our studies have described the dynamics of fermentation of wine musts by some isolated wine yeast strains of Saccharomyces genus: strains 6 and 8 of S. cerevisiae var. ellipsoideus (S. ellipsoideus) and strains 5 and 7 of S. bayanus var. oviformis (S. oviformis). All have high technological properties and all are adapted for the specific pedoclimatic conditions of some areas of Sibiu viticultural region. The selected strains were used as inocula to ferment Sauvignon, Muscat Ottonel, Rose Traminer, and Pino Gris musts in controlled laboratory conditions. It was found that higher initial oxygen concentration in must is necessary to accelerate the fermentation of all the wine yeast strains studied. In order to obtain quality wines, strains with considerable fermentative capacity, high alcohologenic capabilities, and a good conversion efficiency are recommended.

Scalable video coding can handle peer heterogeneity of P2P streaming applications, but there is still a lack of comprehensive studies on how to use it to improve video playback quality. In this paper we propose a capacity aware scalable video coding mechanism for P2P on demand streaming system. The proposed mechanism includes capacity based neighbor selection, adaptive data scheduling and streaming layer adjustment, and can enable each peer to select appropriate streaming layers and acquire streaming chunks with proper sequence, along with choosing specific peers to provide them. Simulation results show that the presented mechanism can decrease the system's startup and playback delay, and increase the video playback quality as well as playback continuity, and thus it provides a better quality of experience for users.

This paper describes basic plans for the development of a radioactive waste disposal facility with the introduction of Nuclear Power Plants (NPPs) for Kenya. The specific objective of this study was to estimate the total projected waste volumes of low- and intermediate-level radioactive waste (LILW) expected to be generated from the Kenyan nuclear power programme. The facility is expected to accommodate LILW to be generated from operation and decommissioning of nuclear power plants for a period of 50 years. An on-site storage capacity of 700 $m^3$ at nuclear power plant sites and a final disposal repository facility of more than 7,000 $m^3$ capacity were derived by considering Korean nuclear power programme radioactive waste generation data, including Kori, Hanbit, and APR 1400 nuclear reactor data. The repository program is best suited to be introduced roughly 10 years after reactor operation. This study is important as an initial implementation of a national LILW disposal program for Kenya and other newcomer countries interested in nuclear power technology.

This study investigates the seismic performance of a staggered wall structure designed with conventional strength based design, and compares it with the performance of the structure designed by capacity design procedure which ensures strong column-weak beam concept. Then the seismic reinforcement schemes such as addition of interior columns or insertion of rotational friction dampers at the ends of connecting beams are validated by comparing their seismic performances with those of the standard model structure. Fragility analysis shows that the probability to reach the dynamic instability is highest in the strength designed structure and is lowest in the structure with friction dampers. It is also observed that, at least for the specific model structures considered in this study, R factor of 5.0 can be used in the seismic design of staggered wall structures with proposed retrofit schemes, while R factor of 3.0 may be reasonable for standard staggered wall structures.

Square tubes used for vehicle structure components have an important role on keeping its stiffness and preserving occupant safety in vehicle collision and rollover in which it experience axial collapse, bending collapse or both. Bending collapse, which absorbs kinetic energy of the impact and retains a survival space for the occupant, is a dominant failure mode in oblique collision and rollover. Thus, in this paper, the bending collapse characteristics such as the maximum bending moment and energy absorption capacity of the square tube replaced by light-weight material were evaluated and presented. The bending test of cantilever tubes which were fabricated with aluminum, GFRP and aluminum/ GFRP hybrid by co-curing process was performed. Then the maximum bending moment and the energy absorption capacity from the moment-angle curve were evaluated. Based on the test results, it was found that aluminum/ GFRP hybrid tube can show better specific energy absorption capacity compared to the pure aluminum or GFRP tube and can convert unstable collapse mode which may occur in pure GFRP tube to stable collapse mode like a aluminum tube in which plastic hinge is developed.

In order to understand the relationship between molecular structure of Metal-Organic Framework(MOF) and capacity of hydrogen absorption, quantum mechanical calculations and grand canonical Monte Carlo simulations have been carried out on a series of MOF-5 having various organic linkers. The calculation results about specific surface area and electron density for various frameworks indicated that the capacity of the hydrogen storage is largely dependent on effective surface area rather than the free volume. Based on the iso-electrostatic potential surface from density functional calculation and the amount of adsorbed hydrogens from grand canonical Monte Carlo calculation, it was also found that the electron localization ground organic linker plays an important role in hydrogen capacity of MOFs.

In the research fields of energy storage, and more specifically of supplying high powers, electrochemical supercapacitor have been among the most studied systems for many years. One of the possible applications is in electric vehicles. We have been working on electronically conducting polymers for use as active materials for electrodes in supercapacitors. These polymers have the ability of doping and undoping with rather fast kinetics and have an excellent capacity for energy storage. polythiophene (Pth) and polyparafluorophenylthiophene (PFPT) have been chemically synthesized for use as active materials in supercapacitor electrodes. Electrochemical characterization has been performed by cyclic voltammetry and an electrode study has been achieved to get the maximun capacity out of the polymers and give good cyclability. specific capacity values of 7mAh/g and 40mAh/g were obtained for PFPT and polythiophene, respectively. Supercapacitors have been built to characterize this type of system. Energy storage levels of 260F/g were obtained with Pth and 110F/g with PFPT
Purpose: The study has identified factors affecting dynamic capabilities and the distribution of competitive advantage under the impact of dynamic capabilities of Vietnamese fintech businesses. Research design, data, and methods: The method used in this study is a survey analysis of 120 Vietnamese fintech businesses to test the hypothesized relationships of the research model as well as evaluate its effectiveness. The study uses the Cronbach alpha analysis, factor analyses, and structural equation modeling to assess the research's measurement and structural models. Results: Research results show that 3 critical success factors: "Capacity to develop financial service ideas," "Ability to develop a platform," and "Business capacity" have a positive impact on "Dynamic capabilities." In addition, the study also evaluates the effect of "dynamic capabilities" on the "competitive advantage" of fintech businesses. Conclusion: Theoretically, this result contributes to discovering new, specific factors affecting the dynamic capabilities of fintech businesses. In practice, the research results are empirical evidence of the distribution of competitive advantages of Vietnamese Fintech businesses and their impact on dynamic capabilities.

Purpose: Regulatory T cells (Tregs), expressing CD4 and CD25 as well as Foxp3, are known to play a pivotal role in immunoregulatory function in autoimmune diseases, cancers, and graft rejection. Dendritic cells (DCs) are considered the major antigen-presenting cells (APCs) for initiating these T-cell immune responses, of which $CD103^+$ DCs are derived from precursor human peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs). The aim of the present study was to evaluate the capacity of these PBMC-derived $CD103^+$ DCs to promote the differentiation of antigen-specific Tregs. Methods: Monocyte-derived DCs were induced from $CD14^+$ monocytes from the PBMCs of 10 healthy subjects. Once the $CD103^+$ DCs were purified, the cell population was enriched by adding retinoic acid (RA). Peptide numbers 14 and 19 of Porphyromonas gingivalis heat shock protein 60 (HSP60) were synthesized to pulse $CD103^+$ DCs as a tool for presenting the peptide antigens to stimulate $CD3^+$ T cells that were isolated from human PBMC. Exogenous interleukin 2 was added as a coculture supplement. The antigen-specific T-cell lines established were phenotypically identified for their expression of CD4, CD25, or Foxp3. Results: When PBMCs were used as APCs, they demonstrated only a marginal capacity to stimulate peptide-specific Tregs, whereas $CD103^+$ DCs showed a potent antigen presenting capability to promote the peptide-specific Tregs, especially for peptide 14. RA enhanced the conversion of $CD103^+$ DCs, which paralleled the antigen-specific Treg-stimulating effect, though the differences failed to reach statistical significance. Conclusions: We demonstrated that $CD103^+$ DCs can promote antigen-specific Tregs from naive T cells, when used as APCs for an epitope peptide from P. gingivalis HSP60. RA was an effective reagent that induces mature DCs with the typical phenotypic expression of CD103 that demonstrated the functional capability to promote antigen-specific Tregs.
