A Simple Stable Method in Real-time Lane Tracking of Broken Lanes

  • Lane detection is one of the major components of traffic intelligence. It is impossible to recognize lanes as human do in all kinds of special situations; however, we can try to solve special problems with special methods. In this paper we propose a simple method using color segmentation, the Probabilistic Hough Transform (PHT), and the Least-Square in real-time lane tracking. Vehicles in neighborhood can be eliminated with one simple threshold in segmentation. Meanwhile, broken shape lanes in different road conditions can be successfully detected using the combination of PHT and Least-Square method. Eventually, this method is tested with groups of static images downloaded from internet and video sequences shot randomly on some highways. Satisfactory results are received.

척수손상 장애인의 자가운전 특성에 관한 연구 (The Study of the Driving Characteristics in Persons With Spinal Cord Injury)

  • The purpose of this study was to provide information on driving characteristics in persons with spinal cord injury through basic statistic analysis of the survey results. The survey was administered to 44 drivers with spinal cord injury. The subjects' general, neurologic and driving characteristics were analyzed, as well as the degree of difficulty in using their vehicles between tetraplegia and paraplegia. The results were as follows: thirty-five (79.6%) of forty-four respondents was men. The average age was 35.0 years old and the age at the time of injury was 29.0 years old. Their neurologic characteristics were tetraplegics 12 (27.3%) and paraplegics 32 (72.2%). Among complete lesions, the highest level those who could drive independently was C7. All the vehicles were equipped with special devices, including "power steering", "automatic transmission" and "hand controls". The vehicles for cervical cord injury were equipped with "grip bars" as well as for the degree of difficulty in using their vehicles, all the subjects felt that "moving the wheelchair in and out of their vehicles" was too difficult for them to do. We suggest that the driver training should be an essential part of the rehabilitation program for patients with spinal cord injuries to maximize their mobility in the community. This training seems to be essential in order to modify the standards of the Handicapped Drivers Ability Test and to aid the driver rehabilitation program in the health insurance payment system. Also, the driver rehabilitation training program should include instruction in that moving wheelchairs in and out of vehicles.

  • 대형 특수차량용 독립현가형 액슬은 극소수 전문업체에서 생산되며 설계, 제작, 시험평가 등 세부기술은 제공되지 않고 있다. 또한 액슬 제작을 위한 설계기준 설정에는 시작품을 실제 차량에 탑재하여 수년 이상 소요되는 내구성 시험이 필수적이다. 본 연구는 독립현가형 액슬의 핵심부품인 스루드라이브를 역설계방법으로 개발하였으며 개발목표 달성 확인에 필요한 시험평가기준을 제안하였다. 또한 CAD/CAE 도구를 사용하여 제품을 설계하고 설계검증을 거쳐 시제품을 제작하였다. 본 연구에 적용된 개발절차 및 방법은 차량의 동력전달계통 개발에 유용할 것이다.

장애인 복지차 시장현황과 한국형 장애인 복지차 로드맵에 관한 연구 (A study on the potential market conditions and the road map of Korean vehicles for people with disabilities)

  • 본 연구는 문헌조사와 인터넷 자료검색을 통해 국내외 장애인 복지차 시장현황에 대한 잠재수요를 파악하고, 장애유형을 따른 복지차 사용 용도별 국내외 기술현황을 통해 한국형 장애인 복지차 발전 로드맵을 제시하고자 한다. 연구결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 장애인 복지차 관련 기술 개발 뿐만 아니라 장애인 자동차의 안전기준 역시 아직 선진국에 비해 미약한 상황이다. 일본, 미국 등과 같이 장애인 복지차 관련 설치, 규격, 기능 및 안전에 대한 기준 및 제도를 마련되어야 할 것이다. 둘째, 미국의 ADA법, 영국의 장애인 차별 금지법, 일본의 Barrier Free법과 같이 장애인에게 지원에 관해 포괄적인 법의 효력을 가짐으로써, 장애인들의 여행과 교통, 고용 기회, 교육, 차량 개조 지원금 등 복지증진하기 위한 조치가 증대됨에 따라 장애인 개조 차량이 더욱 더 늘어난 것으로 나타났다. 셋째, 국내외 복지차 시장현황과 수요예측에 대한 비교분석을 통해 장애인 개조 차량구입과 밀접한 요소로써, 가장 주목해야 할 점은 장애인 고용율과 월평균 소득이 중요한 것으로 나타났다. 이를 위해 정부 각 부처 및 산업전반에 걸쳐 현 장애인 복지법 하위법령개정이나 장애인 복지차 관련법 세부 안전지침에 대한 특별법 제정을 통하여 포괄적인 협력이 필요할 것으로 사료된다. 향후 국내 장애인 복지차 관련 제도/사회 등의 변화를 통해 연간 1만대 이상 복지차 수요가 예상될 것이다.

상용자동차 정비업체의 입지선정에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Location of Bus & Truck Automobile Maintenance Company)

  • Automobiles are largely divided into passenger cars with less than five passengers and commercial vehicles such as construction machines, trucks, mixers, special lorries, and large buses. Automobile maintenance companies are also divided into passenger cars and commercial vehicles. Because commercial vehicles are the livelihood vehicles of individual carriers engaged in cargo transportation, passenger transportation, and construction, fast and accurate maintenance is important. Access to the expressway is also important because the car is large and uses highways. In addition, the time required for troubleshooting is long, so sufficient space must be secured for parking the vehicle, and ease of entry and exit of the vehicle in the maintenance shop should be fully considered. For this reason, commercial vehicle maintenance companies have higher initial investment costs than car maintenance companies, and it is difficult to supply and maintain maintenance personnel. Therefore, it is necessary to carefully examine and analyze various related factors for successful commercial vehicle maintenance company selection. However, most existing commercial vehicle maintenance companies often choose their location based on the empirical judgment of the founder, the customs and the case, without a clear analysis. In this study, we show how to derive the location selection factors to be considered when establishing professional maintenance company for commercial vehicles and to select the optimal location by using AHP (Analytic Hierarchy Process) method.

다수의 바퀴를 가진 차량의 동적 거동 해석의 수학적 모델 (Mathematical Model for Dynamic Performance Analysis of Multi-Wheel Vehicle)

  • 본 연구에서 모사 프로그램이 6WD/6WS를 가진 특수 목적 차량의 비정상상태 코너링 성능을 조사하기 위해 개발되었다. 6WD 차량은 비포장 도로에서 작전을 수행하기 좋은 성능을 가지고 있고 안전한 성능을 가진 것으로 신뢰받고 있다. 그러나, 6WS 차량들의 코너링 성능은 관련 문헌을 통해서는 언뜻 이해가 어렵다. 본 논문에서는 6WD/6WS 차량들은 비선형 차량 동력학, 타이어 모델, 운동학적 효과 등을 포함한 18 자유도 시스템으로 모델링 되었다. 그리고 그 차량 모델은 입/출력과 차량변수가 수식화된 접근 방법으로 쉽게 변환될 수 있도록 MATLAB/SIMULINK를 사용한 모사 프로그램으로 구성되었다. 6WS 차량의 코너링 성능은 브레이크 휠과 피봇팅 각각으로 해석되었다. 모사 결과들을 보면, 코너링 성능은 전후 휠 조향 뿐만이 아니라 중간 휠 조향에 따라 좌우됨을 보여준다. 덧붙여, 새로운 6WS 제어법칙은 측면 미끄러짐 각을 최소화하기 위해 제안되었다. 차량변경 모사 결과들은 제안된 제어법칙의 6WS 차량의 장점을 보여준다.

  • 차량은 빠르게 변하는 속도와 도로의 상황에 따라 속도가 변하는 특성을 가지고 있기 때문에 이들 간의 통신을 위한 네트워크 구성도 빠르게 변한다. 이러한 특성 때문에 차량 네트워크 (Vehicular Ad-hoc Network: VANET)에서 신뢰성 있는 라우팅을 적용하는 것이 쉽지 않다. VANET 환경에서 신뢰성 있는 라우팅을 적용하기 위한 방법에 하나로 클러스터링 기법이 있다. 클러스터링이란 클러스터 헤드(Cluster Head : CH)를 중심으로 차량들을 그룹으로 묶어 통신 및 관리하는 것이다. 따라서 클러스터 내의 어떤 노드(차량)를 클러스터 헤드로 선택하는가에 따라 해당 클러스터링의 오버헤드 감소와 네트워크의 안정성 및 효율성이 좌우된다. 본 논문은 기존의 클러스터링 알고리즘들과 달리 도로 기반 시설인 RSU(Road Side Unit)를 활용하는 클러스터 헤드 선택 알고리즘을 소개한다. RSU를 통한 노드들의 속도와 거리 계산 값으로 클러스터 헤드 우선순위를 결정함으로써 기존의 알고리즘들 보다 안정적이고 효율적인 클러스터링 알고리즘을 제안한다.

역설계 기반의 전기자동차 스티어링 기어박스 개발 (Development of the Steering Gear Box for Electric Vehicles based on the Reverse Engineering)

  • The steering gear box for mid-heavy duty electric vehicles are usually produced by only a few specialized companies. The special techniques, such as designing, producing and testing technology have been veiled. For this reason, steering gear boxes are imported from other country. The durability test with the electric vehicle which is satisfies the design parameters takes several years, and a prototype is installed in the real vehicle for the test. In this research, the steering gear box of the steering system was developed based on the reverse engineering and the testing methods and the steering gear box development process have been suggested. The prototype is also developed with the CAD and CAE tools. Developed steering gear box have been tested in torque tester and have satisfied requied torque. As a result, the process and testing methods studied in this research are useful in the development processes of electric vehicles steering system.

Experience with an On-board Weighing System Solution for Heavy Vehicles

  • Mining, construction, and other special vehicles for heavy use are designed to work under high-performance and off-road working conditions. The driving and executive mechanisms of the support structures and superstructures of these vehicles frequently operate under high loads. Such high loads place the equipment under constant risk of an accident and can jeopardize the dynamic stability of the machinery. An experimental investigation was conducted on a refuse collection vehicle. The aim of this research was to determine the working conditions of a real vehicle: the kinematics of the waste container, that is, a hydraulic rotate drum for waste collection; the dynamics of the load manipulator (superstructure); the vibrations of the vehicle mass; and the strain (stress) of the elements responsible for the supporting structure. For an examination of the force (weight) on the rear axle of a heavy vehicle, caused by its own weight and additional load, a universal measurement system is proposed. As a result of this investigation, we propose an alternative system for continuous vehicle weighing during waste collection while in motion, that is, an on-board weighing system, and provide suggestions for measuring equipment designs.

현대 FFV(Flexible Fuel Vehicle) 개발 (Research and development of Hyundai FFVs(flexible fuel vehicles))

  • This paper describes Hyundai's research and development work on a flexible fuel vehicle (FFV). The work on FFV has been conducted to evaluate its potential as an alternative to the conventional gasoline vehicle. Hyundai FFV described here can be operated on M85, gasoline, or any of their combinations, in which the methanol concentration is measured by an electrostatic type fuel sensor. For that operation, a special FFV ECU(Eletronic Control Unit) has been developed and incorporated in the FFV. The characteristics affecting FFV operation, such as FFV ECU control strategy and injector flow rate, have been investigated and optimized through the experiment. And various development tests have been performed in view of engine performance, durability, cold startability, and exhaust emissions reduction. The exhaust gas aftertreatment system consisting of manifold type catalyst and secondary air injection system shows good emission reduction performance including formaldehyde, and finally, the possibility of the FFVs as the low emission vehicles is evaluated by presenting NMOG(Non-Methane Organic Gases) levels with respect to M0 and M85. With these results, it is concluded that FFV can be a candidate for the low emission vehicles, but more works on its durability improvement is required.
