조선시대 제주읍성 관덕정 광장의 성격 (The Characteristics of Gwandeokjeong Plaza, Jeju-eupseong, in the Joseon Dynasty)

  • This study examines the spatial structure of Jeju-eupseong (Town-castle) in the Joseon Dynasty. The spatial structure of Jeju-eupseong has distinctive features and regional characteristics that are substantially different from typical eupseong in inland regions. This is mainly attributed to the geographical characteristics of the island and the administrative system with strengthened military functions. Jeju-eupseong displays a distinctive layout of major buildings and road system with a plaza located in its center in comparison with the ones found in inland regions. Gwandeokjeong Plaza in Jeju-eupseong served as the center of Jeju's politics, administration, and culture during the Joseon Dynasty, and it, in the modernization period, has become an open public space in the heart of Old Downtown used for community gatherings. Therefore, this study aims to explore the historical background and distinctive spatial structure of Jeju-eupseong in comparison with eupseong in other parts of Korea. Moreover, the study examines the characteristics of Gwandeokjeong as a plaza that has not been dealt with in other studies of eupseong.

Comparison the Mapping Accuracy of Construction Sites Using UAVs with Low-Cost Cameras

  • The advent of a fourth industrial revolution, built on advances in digital technology, has coincided with studies using various unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) being performed worldwide. However, the accuracy of different sensors and their suitability for particular research studies are factors that need to be carefully evaluated. In this study, we evaluated UAV photogrammetry using smart technology. To assess the performance of digital photogrammetry, the accuracy of common procedures for generating orthomosaic images and digital surface models (DSMs) using terrestrial laser scanning (TLS) techniques was measured. Two different type of non-surveying camera(Smartphone camera, fisheye camera) were attached to UAV platform. For fisheye camera, lens distortion was corrected by considering characteristics of lens. Accuracy of orthoimage and DSM generated were comparatively analyzed using aerial and TLS data. Accuracy comparison analysis proceeded as follows. First, we used Ortho mosaic image to compare the check point with a certain area. In addition, vertical errors of camera DSM were compared and analyzed based on TLS. In this study, we propose and evaluate the feasibility of UAV photogrammetry which can acquire 3 - D spatial information at low cost in a construction site.

Land Use, Land-Use Change and Forestry 매트릭스 작성을 위한 공간정보 특성 고찰 (Analysis of Spatial Information Characteristics for Establishing Land Use, Land-Use Change and Forestry Matrix)

  • 기후변화에 대응하기 위한 정책 수립과 이행을 위해 온실가스 인벤토리 작성의 중요성이 대두되고 있다. 이에 따라, 토지이용 항목과 변화들에 대해 공간 명시적으로 나타낸 Approach 3 수준의 Land Use, Land-Use Change and Forestry(LULUCF) 매트릭스 구축 필요성이 제기되고 있다. 본 연구에서는 LULUCF 매트릭스의 산림 항목을 중심으로 연속지적도, 중분류 토지피복지도, 임상도, 도시생태현황지도를 활용하여 LULUCF 매트릭스 구축에 적합한 공간정보를 검토하였다. 각 공간정보에 대한 분류 속성 비교를 실시하였고 충청남도 보령시를 대상으로 양적(면적) 비교, 질적(특성) 비교를 실시하였다. 양적 비교 결과 산림의 면적이 임상도에서 최고 50.42%($303.79km^2$), 지적도에서 최저 46.09%($276.65km^2$)의 차이를 보였다. 질적 비교 결과 자료 구축 범위 차이, 자료 구축 목적 차이, 분류 항목 차이, 일필일목의 원칙 적용 여부의 차이, 자료구축 시기 차이 등 5가지 질적 특성의 차이를 확인하였다. 연구 결과 도시생태현황지도가 LULUCF 매트릭스 구축에 가장 적합한 공간 정보로 판단되었으나 전국구축이 되어있지 않은 한계로 토지피복지도가 가장 적합한 것으로 검토되었다. 또한, 도시생태현황지도, 임상도, 토지피복지도 등을 서로 종합하여 LULUCF 매트릭스를 구축하게 될 경우 각 공간정보의 한계를 보완할 수 있을 것으로 사료된다. 추후 전국토를 대상으로 하는 1:5,000 수준의 세분류 토지피복지도 및 도시생태현황지도가 완료될 경우 LULUCF 매트릭스 작성의 정밀도를 향상시킬 수 있을 것으로 판단된다.

Spatial Information Processing between Hippocampus and Prefrontal cortex: a Hypothesis Based on Anatomy and Physiology

  • The hippocampus and prefrontal cortex are regarded as the highest-order association cortices. The hippocampus has been proposed to store "cognitive maps" of external environments, and the prefrontal cortex is known to be involved in the planning of behavior, among other functions. Considering the prominent functional roles played by these structures, it is not surprising to find direct monosynaptic projections from the hippocampus to the prefrontal cortex. Rhythmic stimulation of this projection patterned after the hippocampal EEG theta rhythm induced stable long-term potentiation of field potentials in the prefrontal cortex. Comparison of behavioral correlates of hippocampal and prefrontal cortical neurons during an a-arm radial maze, working memory task shows a striking contrast. Hippocampal neurons exhibit clear place-specific firing patterns, whereas prefrontal cortical neurons do not show spatial selectivity, but are correlated to different stages of the behavioral task. These data lead to the hypothesis that the role of hippocampal projection to the prefrontal cortex is not to impose spatial representations upon prefrontal activity, but to provide a mechanism for learning the spatial context in which particular behaviors are appropriate.propriate.

Fan-Beam CT 영상 재구성 알고리즘 성능 비교 (Performance Comparison of Reconstruction Algorithms for Fan-Beam Computerized Tomography)

  • In this paper, we have compared the direct fan-beam reconstruction method with the rebinning method in terms of computation time and spatial resolution using computer simulation. As a result, the direct fan-beam method is superior to the rebinning method in the spatial resolution though the former needs longer computation time. However, if we adopt the quarter-detector-offset technique to improve the spatial resolution, the rebinning method outperforms the direct fan-beam method. The computation times have been evaluated using the fast algorithms optimized to reduce the number of interpolation calculations at the back-projection, and the spatial resolutions have been compared using the computer generated phantoms.

분기(Bifurcation)의 개념과 공간조직에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Concept and Spatial Organization of Bifurcation)

  • This study is focused on the concept and spatial organization of bifurcation. After discussing the concept of bifurcation used in Borges' literature and Deleuze's Fold philosophy, case examples in contemporary architecture are analysed to comparatively investigate the relationship between the concept and space. In Deleuze's philosophy, bifurcation as well as pleats, inflection are used to form the world of fold that goes to infinity while, in Borges' literature, the structure of bifurcation is the key method to create the labyrinth of time. There are various projects in contemporary architecture based on the Deleuzian concept of bifurcation. Rem Koolhaas's Two Libraries for Jussieu University and UN Studio's Arnhem Central are selected and researched for further comparison study. In Jussieu project, the bifurcating spatial organization is 'intentionally' used to construct the indeterminant space whereas in Arnhem Central, bifurcation can be found in both the ever-bifurcating design process as well as the final spatial organization'unintentionally'generated from the process. This study is concluded with the comparative analysis between the representation and actualization of a concept that are crucially different.

지형호칭에 의한 하천 미지형경관의 공간특성에 관한 연구 (A Study on Spatial Characteristics of Microtopography of Stream by Topographic Names)

  • In order to understand the spatial forms of stream, this study aimed to typify stream microtopography through the collection of common names of topography determined by fishermen and to describe stream landscapes by using these typology. The seventeen stream microtopography names were sorted out and divided into three types : the streamside space which includes Kaeul-jari, Hapsu-mori, Cholpyok-jidae, Kyekok-jidae and Korpuri, stream plate which includes Youl, Mulgol, So and Ungdongi, and streambed materials which includes Ampan-jidae, Pawi-jidae, Dolpat-jidae, Chagal-jidae, Chanchgal-jidae, Moraetop, Kamtang-padak and Suchodae. The spatial characteristics of stream microtopography landscape were described according to the comparison of landform, the support of fishing, accessibility, viewpoint and eye-catching degree. The tipification of stream microtopography and their symbolization will offer a rich vocabulary to describe diverse spatial forms of stream.

Quantitative Comparison of Probabilistic Multi-source Spatial Data Integration Models for Landslide Hazard Assessment

  • This paper presents multi-source spatial data integration models based on probability theory for landslide hazard assessment. Four probabilistic models such as empirical likelihood ratio estimation, logistic regression, generalized additive and predictive discriminant models are proposed and applied. The models proposed here are theoretically based on statistical relationships between landslide occurrences and input spatial data sets. Those models especially have the advantage of direct use of continuous data without any information loss. A case study from the Gangneung area, Korea was carried out to quantitatively assess those four models and to discuss operational issues.

시공간 탐지 정확성을 고려한 다변량 누적합 관리도의 비교 (Comparison of Multivariate CUSUM Charts Based on Identification Accuracy for Spatio-temporal Surveillance)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study is to compare two multivariate cumulative sum (MCUSUM) charts designed for spatio-temporal surveillance in terms of not only temporal detection performance but also spatial detection performance. Method: Experiments under various configurations are designed and performed to test two CUSUM charts, namely SMCUSUM and RMCUSUM. In addition to average run length(ARL), two measures of spatial identification accuracy are reported and compared. Results: The RMCUSUM chart provides higher level of spatial identification accuracy while two charts show comparable performance in terms of ARL. Conclusion: The RMCUSUM chart has more flexibility, robustness, and spatial identification accuracy when compared to those of the SMCUSUM chart. We recommend to use the RMCUSUM chart if control limit calibration is not an urgent task.

  • The analysis method of stabilizing process and its program regarding large spatial structural systems are described in this paper. In this paper, the analysis of stabilizing process of the example structures, namely Olympic Fencing Arena, is performed and the jacking force of stabilizing process is proposed, and the characteristics of structural behavior is investigated. This result of research is applied to the design and construction of the actual structures and the reliability of the analysis is verified through comparison of the analysis results and the measured results in the field. When the analytical results is compared with the actual structural behavior, there is a little difference, but it is thought that the analysis results are quite reliable because it is very similar to the measured values in spite of construction and measurement errors.
