This paper describes the way to embody the grid coverage and the grid coverage processor which can construct pipelines. The pipeline constructed by the developed grid coverages has internal pipelines that have different resolution and it provides the way of access to very large datasets efficiently. Several operations, such as filtering, image enhancement and band operation, are embedded in the developed grid coverage and grid coverage processor COM components. The practical usefulness of the developed grid coverage and grid coverage processor has been proven by applying them in developing an image processing software for very large images.
Change detection technology, which discovers the change information on the surface of the earth by comparing and analyzing multi-temporal satellite images, can be usefully applied to the various fields, such as environmental inspection, urban planning, forest policy, updating of geographical information and the military usage. In this paper, we introduce a change detection system that can extract and analyze change elements from high-resolution satellite imagery as well as low- or middle-resolution satellite imagery. The developed system provides not only 7 pixelbased methods that can be used to detect change from low- or middle-resolution satellite images but also a float window concept that can be used in manual change detection from highresolution satellite images. This system enables fast access to the very large image, because it is constituted by OGC grid coverage components. Also new change detection algorithms can be easily added into this system if once they are made into grid coverage components.

Soil organic carbon (SOC) is a critical component of soil health and is crucial in mitigating climate change by sequestering carbon from the atmosphere. Accurate estimation of SOC storage is essential for understanding SOC dynamics and developing effective soil management strategies. This study aimed to investigate the factors influencing the spatial distribution of SOC storage in South Korea, using bulk density (BD) prediction to estimate SOC stock. The study utilized data from 393 soil series collected from various land uses across South Korea established by Korea Rural Development Administration from 1968-1999. The samples were analyzed for soil properties such as soil texture, pH, and BD, and SOC stock was estimated using a predictive model based on BD. The average SOC stock in South Korea at 30 cm topsoil was 49.1 Mg/ha. The study results revealed that soil texture and land use were the most significant factors influencing the spatial distribution of SOC storage in South Korea. Forested areas had significantly higher SOC storage than other land use types. Climate variables such as temperature and precipitation had a relative influence on SOC storage. The findings of this study provide valuable insights into the factors influencing the spatial distribution of SOC storage in South Korea.
The massive green tide occurred every summer in the Yellow Sea since 2008, and many studies are being actively conducted to estimate the coverage of green tide through analysis of satellite imagery. However, there is no satellite images selection criterion for accurate coverage calculation of green tide. Therefore, this study aimed to find a suitable satellite image from for the comparison of the green tide coverage according to the spatial resolution of satellite image. In this study, Landsat ETM+, MODIS and GOCI images were used to coverage estimation and its spatial resolution is 30, 250 and 500 m, respectively. Green tide pixels were classified based on the NDVI algorithm, the difference of the green tide coverage was compared with threshold value. In addition, we estimate the proportion of the green tide in one pixel through the Linear Spectral Unmixing (LSU) method, and the effect of the difference of green tide ratio on the coverage calculation were evaluated. The result of green tide coverage from the calculation of the NDVI value, coverage of green tide usually overestimate with decreasing spatial resolution, maximum difference shows 1.5 times. In addition, most of the pixels were included in the group with less than 0.1 (10%) LSU value, and above 0.5 (50%) LSU value accounted for about 2% in all of three images. Even though classified as green tide from the NDVI result, it is considered to be overestimated because it is regarded as the same coverage even if green tide is not 100% filled in one pixel. Mixed-pixel problem seems to be more severe with spatial resolution decreases.
Oil Field Geographical Information System (OFGIS) manages multiple spatial data, attribute data, and topographic data, which include almost every kind of ground info rmation and underground information. Subsystems managed by OFGIS include petroleum exploration subsystem (PESS), petroleum development and engineering subsystem (PDESS), petrochemical subsystem (PCSS), petroleum storage and transportation subsystem (PSTSS), petroleum sale subsystem (PSSS), etc. A basic OFGIS framework consists of oil field infrastructure coverage (OFIC), oil field specialized information coverage (OFSIC) and oil field synthesis and decision service coverage (OFSDSC). Basic function of OFGIS includes database management, geographic information management, spatial information processing and application.

The objective of this paper is to use Geographical Information Systems for identifying Digital Divide in Riyadh Neighborhoods, Saudi Arabia. Geo-database was created that includes Streets, Neighborhoods, ICT Access Data and Coverage Map for Riyadh. We used QGIS and overlay for analysis, intersection selected as tool for this paper. The results indicate that after analyzing the use of information communication technology in all regions of the Kingdom it turns that Riyadh, Ash Sharqiyyah and Makkah in average with percentage 50%, While Al Jawf, Al Madinah, and Najran are the least with percentage 42%. Then we focused on Riyadh to analyze the digital divide because it is the capital of Saudi Arabia and occupations the highest percent of communications towers in the KSA due to population density. Regarding coverage of the 4G, the neighborhoods at the center have recorded very high coverage score. While neighborhoods at the edges of the city have low values of coverage score. Same for 3G, it is more intense in the center and the coverage percentage is higher than 4G. For 2G we found it had the highest coverage compared to 3G or 4G
The effect of diurnal cycle, intermittent visit of observation satellite, sensor installation, partial coverage of remote sensing, heterogeneity of soil properties and precipitation to the soil moisture estimation error were analyzed to present the global sampling strategy of soil moisture. Three models, the theoretical soil moisture model, WGR model proposed Waymire of at. (1984) to generate rainfall, and Turning Band Method to generate two dimensional soil porosity, active soil depth and loss coefficient field were used to construct sufficient two-dimensional soil moisture data based on different scenarios. The sampling error is dominated by sampling interval and design scheme. The effect of heterogeneity of soil properties and rainfall to sampling error is smaller than that of temporal gap and spatial gap. Selecting a small sampling interval can dramatically reduce the sampling error generated by other factors such as heterogeneity of rainfall, soil properties, topography, and climatic conditions. If the annual mean of coverage portion is about 90%, the effect of partial coverage to sampling error can be disregarded. The water retention capacity of fields is very important in the sampling error. The smaller the water retention capacity of the field (small soil porosity and thin active soil depth), the greater the sampling error. These results indicate that the sampling error is very sensitive to water retention capacity. Block random installation gets more accurate data than random installation of soil moisture gages. The Walnut Gulch soil moisture data show that the diurnal variation of soil moisture causes sampling error between 1 and 4 % in daily estimation.
Wireless network information services allow end systems to discover heterogeneous networks and spectrum available for secondary use at or near their current location, helping them to cope with increasing traffic and finite spectrum resources. We propose a unified architecture that allows end systems to find nearby base stations that are using either licensed, shared or unlicensed spectrum across multiple network operators. Our study evaluates the performance and scalability of spatial databases storing base station coverage area geometries. The measurement results indicate that the current spatial databases perform well even when the number of coverage areas is very large. A single logical spatial database would likely be able to satisfy the query load for a large national cellular network. We also observe that coarse geographic divisions can significantly improve query performance.
This study proposes a facility location model in consideration of spatial coverage and travel cost as an effort to make objective and effective decisions of natural gas filling stations. The proposed model is developed for fixed stations and consists of two stages. The first stage employs a heuristic algorithm to find a set of locations which satisfy the spatial coverage constraints determined by the maximum travel distance between the filling stations and bus depots. In the second stage, the optimal location of filling stations is determined based on the minimum travel cost estimated by using a modified transportation problem as well as the construction and maintenance costs of the filling stations. The applicability of the model is analyzed through finding the optimal location of filling stations for the city of Anyang, a typical medium-sized city in metropolitan Seoul, based on the demand of natural gas buses. This study is expected to help promote the spread of natural gas buses by providing a starting point of a objective and reasonable methodological perspective to address the filling station location problem.
A photonic integrated interferometric imaging system possesses the characteristics of small-scale, low weight, low power consumption, and better image quality. It has potential application for replacing conventional large space telescopes. In this paper, the principle of photonic integrated interferometric imaging is investigated. A novel lenslet array arrangement and lenslet pairing approach are proposed, which are helpful in improving spatial frequency coverage. For the novel lenslet array arrangement, two short interference arms were evenly distributed between two adjacent long interference arms. Each lenslet in the array would be paired twice through the novel lenslet pairing approach. Moreover, the image reconstruction model for optical interferometric imaging based on compressed sensing was established. Image simulation results show that the peak signal to noise ratio (PSNR) of the reconstructed image based on compressive sensing is about 10 dB higher than that of the direct restored image. Meanwhile, the normalized mean square error (NMSE) of the direct restored image is approximately 0.38 higher than that of the reconstructed image. Structural similarity index measure (SSIM) of the reconstructed image based on compressed sensing is about 0.33 higher than that of the direct restored image. The increased spatial frequency coverage and image reconstruction approach jointly contribute to better image quality of the photonic integrated interferometric imaging system.
