It suggests a closet design for infants in consideration of space utilization, furniture arrangement, and goods storage by integrating a baby's closet and toy chest, which was used for storage of baby's toys and play instrument. For this, it conducted and analyzed data research on the infants' toy chests in the domestic and overseas market and based on such approach, the colors that helped development of infants' cognition and emotion were selected while suggesting familiar animal characters for infants. Without considering separate arrangement of furniture and toy chest within limited space, it allowed space utilization and provided enough storing space. Also, the attached ball casters enabled easy carry of the closet and with this function, it helps infants arrange and store goods by themselves so that making them feel a sense of accomplishment. For effective spatial utilization as well as security of its genuine storage function, the closet and toy chest were combined in this study. Thus, it is believed that development of such multifunctional furniture will suggest the direction of researches on domestic furniture development that are conducted to maximize utilization of residential space for the people living today.

The purpose of this study is to analyze the current status of space use in university library and draw up considerations for enhancing space utilization based on the analysis results. For this purpose, the utilization rate of each space was analyzed by categorizing the user's space of the university library, and secondly, the preferences of the major user groups were analyzed according to the characteristics of the users' space. For empirical analysis, we collected and refined users' space usage data (98,282 people's data 433,769 cases) accumulated for one year for the central library of "J" National University. Then we analyzed the usage pattern according to space and period(monthly, hourly). In addition, preferences for each major group of users (undergraduates, graduate students and graduates) in the library were analyzed through the library visitors' data (2,426,553 cases) over the same period. The results of this study can be used as preliminary research for the composition and arrangement of users' space in future university libraries.

Ministry of Science & Technology (MOST) and Korea Aerospace Research Institute (KARI) are preparing for the first Korean astronaut program based on the mid and long-term basic plan for space development of Korea from the year of 2003. KARI is making plans for the Korean astronaut's missions with Russia. To participate in the International Space Station (ISS) utilization through the Korean astronaut program, KARI investigates a lot of manned space missions. Among the suggested items, Earth observation on the Russian Module of ISS is the one expected mission for a Korean astronaut. This paper is intended to give readers a brief introduction of ISS Russian Module and research fields of Earth observation for astronaut's mission.

This study aims at explaining locality of living space which is changing drastically by exploring change of land utilization, living space and condition in Yeo-ju, an agricultural area around Seoul. The conclusions are as follows. 1. Agricultural land utilization tends to decrease, while civic land utilization tends to increase. 2. Change of living space due to transportation development is remarkable. Big ferry town (Yeoju-town) grew to a city, while small ferry town fell away. 3. In villages on slow urbanization, houses or lands are deserted. 4. In villages, there has been increasing number of recreational farm for urbanite. 5. In 80% of villages, there has been an increasing number of part-time farmers. 6. Most serious social problem in Yeo-ju is incompetence in agricultural activity after UR. In sum, Yeoju is now an area where the pace of urbanization is very tardy. However, this area, as an changeable area just before speedy urbanization, is expected to be urbanized drastically on condition that transportation develop. When plans suitable for this town are set up, Yeoju is expected to be a comfortable city.

Even though the balcony in apartment is considered as a necessary space rather than a supplementary one nowadays, we still have many problems in balcony. The utilization of balcony space in our daily lives are as follows: Laundry, Storage, Indoor gardening, Exercise, Hobby activities etc. Despite of these various functions of balcony, balconies were designed without taking them into consideration. Therefore balcony spaces are not functional and the lines of flow get more complicated. Until now, the studies of balcony were simply done on the utilizing pattern and the satisfaction degree of residents, not on connections between balcony location and utilizing pattern. Thus, the purpose of this study is to provide improvement guidelines for the utilization of the balcony space in apartment by examining the present conditions and multiple needs.

Based on the survey of 4 universities in Tai' an by questionnaire survey and interviews, this study acquired and analyzed the college student users' activity type, utilization frequency, retention time, companion, preference for landscape design style, the importance of the courtyard space's environment and landscape, as well as correlations between primary attributes and activity characteristics of student users. The weight of the university teaching area's courtyard space evaluation index was obtained by Analytical Hierarchy Process. The results indicated that nearly 60% college students select to study and to rest alone as the main activity type, 80% students' utilization frequency is at least two times or more a week. In addition, the relative weight of plant landscape is the highest in the 2nd class indexes of space garden landscape, and its value is 0.113; the relative weight of cleanliness is the highest in the 3rd class indexes of space environment quality, and its value is 0.143. Therefore, it should be attached much importance to constructing the environment and landscape for studying and relaxing, and the factors of cleanliness and plant landscape etc in the further design of courtyard space are taken into full consideration.

In contrast to the short-term nature of lunar missions in the past, lunar missions in new space era aim to extend the presence on the lunar surface and to use this capability for the Mars exploration. In order to realize extended human presence on the Moon, production and use of consumables and fuels required for the habitation and transportation using in-situ resources is an important prerequisite. The Global Exploration Roadmap presented by the International Space Exploration Coordination Group (ISECG), which reflects the space exploration plans of participating countries, shows the phases of progress from lunar surface exploration to Mars exploration and relates in-situ resource utilization (ISRU) capabilities to each phase. Based on the ISRU Gap Assessment Report from the ISECG, ISRU technology is categorized into in-situ propellant and consumable production, in-situ construction, in-space manufacturing, and related areas such as storage and utilization of products, power systems required for resource utilization. Among the lunar resources, leading countries have prioritized the utilization of ice water existing in the permanent shadow region near the lunar poles and the extraction of oxygen from the regolith, and are preparing to investigate the distribution of resources and ice water near the lunar south pole through unmanned landing missions. Resource utilization technologies such as producing hydrogen and oxygen from water by hydroelectrolysis and extracting oxygen from the lunar regolith are being developed and tested in relevant lunar surface analogue environments. It is also observed that each government emphasizes the use and development of the private sector capabilities for sustainable lunar surface exploration by purchasing lunar landing services and providing opportunities to participate in resource exploration and material extraction.

The goal of this survey is to propose planning and design informations for the public open spaces in apartment housing, through the observation and analysis of the current situations. For this, the planning information of housing suppliers about public open spaces and the spatial utilization of users were compared and by analyzing facility utilization and resident\`s recognition. This study is also intended to guide the future directions of the research for the improvement of public open spaces. The research follows three phases; \circled1 To understand the conditions of public open spaces in apartment housing sites through survey and analysis of catalogues and references. \circled2 To study on facility utilization and resident's recognition by observation and analysis. \circled3 To propose planning guidelines for the improvement of public open space by recognition differences of facilities.

Zonal cavity method, which is a kind of the lumen method, is used the calculation of the average illuminance on the workplane in an interior. Important factors of the method are cavity ratio, coefficient of utilization, and light loss factor. A Coefficient of Utilization varies with a kind of luminaires and is affected by surface reflectance of space. For this, the data from Coefficient of Utilization computation were analyzed with the same lumens and different photometry. This paper analyzes the changes of Coefficients of Utilization on the photometry of luminaires and surface reflectance of space.

There have been continuous studies about urban parks since 1971 until now. However, there was neither deep analysis of park space nor research about green areas and lawn space. Below is the summary of the main results obtained based on the analysis of the problems with the spatial structure and park facilities of 8 examinatory parks. The analysis of use pattern revealed that lawns in green areas are becoming almost unusable spaces. Therefore plans for more active utilization of lawn space is necessary. There were high correlations among unnecessary and necessary factors of park, use of green areas and the reasons for not using it; thus the analysis suggested that other plans be considered for utilization of lawn space in oder to obtain stronger efficacy. The objective of the present research was to suggest an opinion concerning the improvement of spatial structure of urban parks, by making unusable spaces of parks usable through appropriate park structuring, so that users can utilize more parks. Especially with regard to green areas, the present research has a meaning in that it suggested a method of improving spatial structure by means of green areas desired by users and facilities they can use.
