  • The thermo-mechanical analysis and test were performed for plate structure under mechanical and thermal loading conditions. Infrared heating system and hydraulic loading system were used to simulate mechanical and thermal environment for the plate structure which is similar to the fin of the airframe. Also, FEM analysis using plastic option was added to evaluate thermo-mechanical behavior. Thermo-mechanical tests were conducted at elevated temperature and rapid heating(10℃/sec) condition with external loading together. To investigate the effect of heating environment, the strength at room temperature was compared with that of elevated temperature and rapid heating condition. A methodology for test and analysis for supersonic vehicle subjected to aerodynamic loading and heating was generated through the study. These experimental and analysis results can be used for designing thermal resistance structures of the supersonic vehicle.

  • The paper deals with the numerical analysis of contaminants emission from the material affected by temperature variation in floor heating system. Considering mass transfer and heat transfer theories, a computer program for the analysis of VOCs emission was made. To demonstrate the accuracy of the numerical solution, the prediction results and the measured data were compared. Using this program, emission rates of the materials in the bakeout space and the no bake-out space were compared to estimate the variation of emission rate.

  • Leading developed countries have studied energy self-sufficient houses such as zero or low energy buildings to reduce energy consumption for buildings since the early 1990s. Moreover, some developed countries have actually constructed self-sufficient houses and operated them for demonstration, expanding use of such houses. Korea has also established Zero Energy Solar House(ZeSH) and studied energy independence. Therefore, this study analyzed research result regarding ZeSH, self-sufficient energy house hold of Korea, found out technologies used for heating energy independence, used building interpretation program(ESP_r) to evaluate performance of each factors and analyzed energy reduction quantitatively. Results from the research are as follows: Reduction rate of actual detached house's heating load was also analyzed quantitatively depending on application of each technology. When each factor was applied step-by-step, annual reduction rate of heating load depending on increase in insulation thickness reached 6.6~22.2 %. Annual reduction rate of heating load depending on increase insulation thickness, and change in window heating performance and area ratio reached 31.5 %. Annual reduction rate of heating load through high-sealing and high-insulation depending on change in leakage rate reached 40.0~88.9 %. Annual reduction of heating load, when Mass Wall and attached sun space was applied were applied reached 28.5~39.2 %, respectively.

  • Korea District heating corp. recently give an attention to combine the district heating and supply pipes as a two pipe system that are in the present system separated with room heating and warm water supply pipe, and the two pipe system is commonly applied for heating service in European countries. In the new two pipe system, only one heat source is supplied to a house and partitioned into room heating and warm water supply by household substation. So the effective distribution of supplied heat source in accordance to user intention is very important. This paper presents the development and performance test of three-way proportional control valve for a combined heat source system in district heating. The proposed valve is controlled to partition heat source into two different directions : hot water distributor for space heating and household substation for warm water supply in response to the pressure drops of tap water caused by the user. The performance investigation is shown within 3% of error compared to the theoretical model of the three-way proportional valve and its controllability is verified.

  • The purposes of the present study are to investigate the characteristics of heat storage and emission of the PCM($CalCl_2{\cdot}6H_2O$) panel, and to analyze the distribution of indoor air temperature in a floor heating space with PCM panels for the heating system. Two identical unit test cells sized $1.8m^W{\times}1.8m^L{\times}1.8m^H$ were built and installed with specially designed aluminium Ondol-panels. It held 1.2kg of calcium chloride hexahydrate(CCH). It was found that PCM panels could reduce the indoor air temperature fluctuations and maintain the phase changing temperature for considerably long duration, $2{\sim}3$ times longer in heating hour over no-CCH one. When the elapsed time was 6 hours, the average temperature difference between PCM panel and Ondol panel was $7.7^{\circ}C$.

  • The evaluation of the indoor environment of the Assembly Hall in the University, which is designed to be a large space, requires efficient design of its heating system that takes into consideration natural convection and the characteristics of the occupant's spaces. Indoor thermal environment was measured in the field and simulated with CFD code. The estimations of temperature distribution and indoor airflow distribution must be carried out simultaneously, as the thermal stratification is induced by natural convection flows. In order to simulate the even distribution of factors affecting the indoor environment, including temperature and airflow, Phoenics is used. The turbulent flow model adopted is the RNG k- model. The inlets and outlets of the air-conditioning systems, material and thermal properties, and the size of the test room ($35m{\times}18m{\times}10m$) are used for the simulation. Since the Assembly Hall is symmetric, half of the space is simulated. A Cartesian grid is used for calculation and the number of grids are respectively $60{\times}45{\times}35$. The results of the computer simulation during winter conditions are compared with the measurements at the typical points in the assembly hall with the heating system. After evaluating the results of the computer simulations, the methods of the heating system and layout are suggested.

  • Effluent ground water overflow in deep and broad ground space building. Temperature of effluent ground water is in $12{\sim}20^{\circ}...$ annually and the quality of that water is as good as well water. Therefore if the flow rate of effluent ground water is sufficient as source of heat pump, that is good heat source and heat sink of heat pump. Effuent ground water contain the thermal energy of surrounding ground. So this is a new application of ground source heat pump. In this study open type and close type heat pump system using effluent ground water was installed and tested for a church building with large and deep ground space. The effluent flow rate of this building is $800{\sim}1000\;ton/day$. The heat pump capacity is 5RT. The heat pump heating COP was $3.85{\sim}4.68$ for the open type and $3.82{\sim}4.69$ for the close type system. The system heating COP including pump power is $3.0{\sim}3.32$ for the open type and $3.32{\sim}3.84$ for close type system. This performance is up to that of BHE type ground source heat pump.

  • This study has been purposed to provide thermal comfort range in accordance with the residential style of radiant floor heating space, and to compare it with the thermal comfort range at predicted mean vote. The survey for the thermal sensation vote to the subjects and the measurement of environmental factors has been executed, and regression analysis has been performed. It is interpreted that the combination of the physical factor and the psychological factor results lower neutral point of the floor sitting style than that of the chair sitting style. There are some difference between the measured predicted mean vote and the thermal sensation vote via survey, which appears to be caused by distinctive heat transfer characteristic of floor radiant heating space, such as, high radiant temperature and contact thermal sensation of floor surface.
