In this study, we developed a co-located and space-shared multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) antenna module with a modular design and high integration level. The proposed antenna pair includes a half-wavelength loop antenna and a dipole-type antenna printed on the front and back sides of a compact modular board. Owing to their modal orthogonality, these two independent antenna elements are highly self-isolated and free of additional decoupling components, even though they are assembled at the same location and within the same space. Thus, the proposed antenna is attractive in 5G MIMO systems. Furthermore, the proposed co-located and space-shared MIMO antenna module was employed in a 5G smartphone to verify their radiation and diversity performances. A 12 × 12 MIMO antenna system was simulated and fabricated using the proposed module. Based on the results, the proposed module can be employed in large-scale MIMO antenna systems for current and future terminal devices owing to its high integration, compactness, simple implementation, and inherent isolation.

We propose a structure for a multiple input multiple output antenna which has no space for isolation. The antenna operates in a frequency range of 2.4-2.48 GHz and can achieve a high channel capability as a Bluetooth antenna. The MIMO antenna consists of two planar inverted F antennas with symmetric structure. We designed the proposed antenna using HFSS simulator, and we designed the fabricated antenna using PCB fabricator. The MIMO antenna's isolation $S_{21}{\leq}-10dB$ and reflection coefficient $S_{11}{\leq}-20dB$. The proposed antenna's specification satisfies Bluetooth antenna's criteria and has more space than the existing MIMO antennas, which have space for isolation.
In this paper, the transmit antenna for the space feeder used for the phased array antennas is investigated. The multi-aperture horn antenna is proposed as the transmit antenna and the characteristics are verified with the Matlab coding, HFSS of Ansoft Corp., and MWS of CST Corp., The E-plane and H-plane beam patterns of the multi-aperture horn antenna are nearly symmetrical and the sidelobe level of the I-plane beam pattern is lower than that the of general pyramidal horn antenna. The fabricated multi-aperture horn antenna is measured using the near-field measurement system. The measured results show good agreement with the simulated ones.
This paper describes Ka-band antenna performance analysis of COMS satellite. The key parameters of the antenna system are optimal antenna diameter, feed horn type and horn size, F/D, and the coordinate of offset horns. The paper deals with the method to determine design core parameters of optimal antenna diameter, feed horn type and horn size, F/D, and the coordinate of offset horns, and the performances of design result.
We improved the antenna efficiency of the Taeduk Radio Astronomy Observatory (TRAO) 13.7-m radio telescope by adjusting the antenna panels based on digital photogrammetric measurements. First of all, we measured the surface accuracy of the main reflector of this antenna at three elevation angles of $35^{\circ}$, $45^{\circ}$, and $60^{\circ}$. We performed a total of four sets of the photogrammetric measurements and panel adjustments. When adjusting the panels, we positioned the antenna to the zenith and applied the measured data sets at the elevation of $45^{\circ}$. We found that the antenna surface accuracy has been improved by a factor of ~ 3 times after the final adjustment in comparison with the value before the adjustments. And we also found that the antenna surface accuracy tended to be slightly better at the elevation angles of $35^{\circ}$ and $60^{\circ}$ than that at the elevation angle of $45^{\circ}$. After the final panel adjustment, the aperture and beam efficiencies of the telescope have has been improved from 35% to 44%, and from 41% to 51%, respectively.

For precise GNSS applications, the antenna phase center correction (PCC) is absolutely required. The PCC magnitude can reach the centimeter level with the antenna structure. In the present study, we first investigate the phase center offset (PCO) and phase center variation (PCO) of three different antenna models in two different reference frames, IGS08/igs08.atx and IGS14/igs14.atx. Clear L1 and L2 PCO differences were found between IGS08 and IGS14. In addition, the PCV showed characteristics that is dependent upon the signal direction (azimuth and elevation angle). The remarkable thing is that the changes of a Dorne Margolin choke-ring antenna model (AOAD/MT DOME) was very small in two reference frames. In order to analyze changes in positions according to different reference systems, GNSS data obtained from DAEJ, SUWN, and TSKB stations were processed by the precise point positioning (PPP) method. We suggest that an antenna PCO/PCV can affect the precise GNSS positioning on the order of several millimeters in two different reference frames.
Thermal analysis has been performed to evaluate the thermal effect on composite antenna (Ka-band) structure in space environment. The concepts of thermal control are also presented to maintain the antenna components within respective temperature limits. A steady-state algorithm of I-DEAS' thermal analysis software was utilized to predict both maximum and minimum temperature, maximum gradient temperature, and temperature distribution on each antenna component.

A novel phased array antenna system for space-borne polarimetric SAR is proposed and completed in this paper. The antenna system assures polarimetric and multi-mode capability of SAR. It has broadband, high polarization isolation and high port to port isolation. The antenna system is composed of broadband polarimetric microstrip antenna, T/R modules and multifunction beam controller nit. The polarimetric microstrip antenna has more than 100MHz bandwidth at L-band with -30dB polarization isolation and high port to port isolation. The microstrip element and T/R module's structure and characteristics, the subarray's performances measuring results are presented in detail in this paper. A design scheme on beam controller of the phased array antenna is also proposed and completed, which is based on Digital Signal Processing (DSP) chip -TMS320F206. This beam controller unit has small size and high reliability compared with general beam controller. In addition, the multifunction beam controller unit can acquire and then send the T/R module's working states to detection system in real time.
In this paper, gain loss of KVN (Korean VLBI Network) 21-m shaped Cassegrain antenna due to misalignment of antenna optics is calculated using ray-tracing method. It enables us to estimate alignment tolerances of feed and sub-reflector positioning. According to numerical results, KVN 21-m shaped Cassegrain antenna's gain loss is more sensitive to positions of feed and sub-reflector than in case of the equivalent classical Cassegrain antenna. The result of calculation is believed to be utilized as a possible guideline when checking the performance of the antenna system.
