  • To study properties of the pulsation in the infrared emission for long period variables, we have collected and analyzed the infrared observational data at M band for 12 OH/IR stars. We present the light curves using the data that cover about 30 years including recent observations of ISO and Spitzer. We use Marquardt-Levenberg algorithm to determine the pulsation periods and amplitudes and compare them with previous results of infrared and radio investigations. Generally, the newly determined pulsation parameters show much less errors because of the larger database. We find that the relationship between the pulsation period and amplitudes at M band is fairly well fitted with a simple linear equation in a wide period range. For OH 42.3-0.1, we find some evidences that the object could be a post-asymptotic giant branch star.

  • To study properties of the variation of the infrared emission of OH/IR stars, we collect and analyze the infrared observational data in K band for nine OH/IR stars. We use the observational data obtained for about three decades including recent data from the two micron all sky survey (2MASS) and the deep near infrared survey of the southern sky (DENIS). We use Marquardt-Levenberg algorithm to determine the pulsation period and amplitude for each star and compare them with previous results of infrared and radio investigations.

  • The adjusting parameter set which enable control systems to locate on stability limit can be derived from theoretical or trial methods for an existing real system. The data from the results are much available to keep a system in the Proper stability condition even to site engineers who are inexperienced in the control system. In this paper, a general one loop control system was adopted for a model system the process of which was assumed to consist of a time-delay element and a first order-lag element in series. After obtaining the corresponding parameter set for the model system by mathematical procedures, their loci on the parameter space was taken according to frequency change. The parameter set loci of stability limit showed unique pattern, and particularity , the curves on the Kg-Ti parameter space were able to be generalized in the form of, an unique exponential formula. These properties were also compared with the results taken from experimental procedures by Nyquist response method and Ziegler & Nichols method on the time domain, and both results were confirmed to be nearly same.

  • Since the successful observation by Uhuru, the first astronomical satellite, X-ray astronomy has become one of the rapidly developing fields in astronomy. The scientific results provide us the unique opportunity to understand the high energy nature of X-ray sources. We now know that our galaxy contains many different types of X-ray sources such as the compact X-ray sources, galactic bulge sources in addition to the Sun, the brightest X-ray sources in the sky. In this study we review the general properties of galactic X-ray sources, the characteristics of periodic compact X-ray sources, and bursters as well as the models.

  • The object of the present paper is to study certain geometrical properties of the submanifolds of generalized Sasakian space-forms. We deduce some results related to the invariant and anti-invariant slant submanifolds of the generalized Sasakian spaceforms. Finally, we study the properties of the sectional curvature, totally geodesic and umbilical submanifolds of the generalized Sasakian space-forms. To prove the existence of almost semiinvariant and anti-invariant submanifolds, we provide the non-trivial examples.

  • We study the orbital histories of Virgo galaxies undergoing different HI gas stripping stages using phase-space diagrams. Based on the HI properties of galaxies, we find that location of galaxies is in good agreement with ram-pressure stripping predicted by numerical simulations with different infall time. For example, galaxies experiencing active gas stripping are mostly found in the first infall region showing high velocity with respect to the cluster center. Meanwhile, most galaxies that are likely to have lost gas a while ago are found in the cluster outskirts with low orbital velocities. We also discuss the cases where observational properties of galaxies and their locations in the phase-space do not well agree. In addition, we probe the phase-space of filaments and subgroups around or within Virgo. Our results strongly suggest that substructures can play important roles in galaxy evolution while galaxies are falling to the cluster.

  • We report untwisting chromospheric surges of AR 10930. Hinode Solar Optical Telescope (SOT) observed AR 10930 on the west limb continuously from 11:21 UT December 18 to 09:58 UT December 19, using the Ca II H broadband filter. During the observation, rise and fall motion accompanying rotation appeared recursively. There occurred a total of 14 surges at AR 10930 over 17 hours. The average duration was 45 minutes, and the average width, and length were 8 Mm, and 39 Mm, respectively. The dynamic properties including number of turns from the rise to the fall, the axial speed and acceleration are also analyzed. We speculate that the surges occurred by recursive reconnections between the twisted prominence and large untwisted flux tube.

  • The Optical Wide-field patroL-Network (OWL-Net) is a Korean optical space surveillance system used to track and monitor objects in space. In this study, the characteristics of four Initial Orbit Determination (IOD) methods were analyzed using artificial observational data from Low Earth Orbit satellites, and an appropriate IOD method was selected for use as the initial value of Precise Orbit Determination using OWL-Net data. Various simulations were performed according to the properties of observational data, such as noise level and observational time interval, to confirm the characteristics of the IOD methods. The IOD results produced via the OWL-Net observational data were then compared with Two Line Elements data to verify the accuracy of each IOD method. This paper, thus, suggests the best method for IOD, according to the properties of angles-only data, for use even when the ephemeris of a satellite is unknown.

  • In this article, we show that the family of all 𝓘𝒦-open subsets in a topological space forms a topology if 𝒦 is a maximal ideal. We introduce the notion of 𝓘𝒦-covering map and investigate some basic properties. The notion of quotient map is studied in the context of 𝓘𝒦-convergence and the relationship between 𝓘𝒦-continuity and 𝓘𝒦-quotient map is established. We show that for a maximal ideal 𝒦, the properties of continuity and preserving 𝓘𝒦-convergence of a function defined on X coincide if and only if X is an 𝓘𝒦-sequential space.
