  • In this paper, we propose the index structure based on a vector approximation for efficiently supporting the similarity search of multi-dimensional data. The proposed index structure splits a region with the space partition method and allocates to the split region dynamic bits according to the distribution of data. Therefore, the index structure splits a region to the unoverlapped regions and can reduce the depth of the tree by storing the much region information of child nodes in a internal node. Our index structure represents the child node more exactly and provide the efficient search by representing the region information of the child node relatively using the region information of the parent node. We show that our proposed index structure is better than the existing index structure in various experiments. Experimental results show that our proposed index structure achieves about $40\%$ performance improvements on search performance over the existing method.

  • In this paper, we introduce a fuzzy inference systems based on fuzzy c-means clustering algorithm for fuzzy modeling of nonlinear process. Typically, the generation of fuzzy rules for nonlinear processes have the problem that the number of fuzzy rules exponentially increases. To solve this problem, the fuzzy rules of fuzzy model are generated by partitioning the input space in the scatter form using FCM clustering algorithm. The premise parameters of the fuzzy rules are determined by membership matrix by means of FCM clustering algorithm. The consequence part of the rules is expressed in the form of polynomial functions and the coefficient parameters of each rule are determined by the standard least-squares method. And lastly, we evaluate the performance and the nonlinear characteristics using the data widely used in nonlinear process.

  • In this paper We describe an algorithm which is devised for 4he partition o# the input space and the generation of fuzzy rules by the fuzzy entropy and tested with the time series prediction problem using Mackey-Glass chaotic time series. This method divides the input space into several fuzzy regions and assigns a degree of each of the generated rules for the partitioned subspaces from the given data using the Shannon function and fuzzy entropy function generating the optimal knowledge base without the irrelevant rules. In this scheme the basic idea of the fuzzy neural network is to realize the fuzzy rules base and the process of reasoning by neural network and to make the corresponding parameters of the fuzzy control rules be adapted by the steepest descent algorithm. The Proposed algorithm has been naturally derived by means of the synergistic combination of the approximative approach and the descriptive approach. Each output of the rule's consequences has expressed with its connection weights in order to minimize the system parameters and reduce its complexities.

  • This paper presents the reflection and transmission measurements conducted at the 60GHz suitable to provide a high speed wide band service. Mean received power and standard deviation are calculated and used to compare the characteristics of radio wave propagation to the various obstacles between transmitting and receiving antennas at the frequency. The results show that the transmitted signal strength by the steel door and copper plate are about 40dB lower than in free space, those by the rubber plate, glass and styroform are about 3dB lower than in free space. Also, the re(looted signal strengths at the 60 degree grazing angle show that in case by the partition is about 23dB lower, by the surface of a wall is about 6dB lower than by the copper plate. The presented results can be used for the design of 60 GHz picocell communication network that the reflected and transmitted waves affect to the service area.

  • Many of penthouse apartments began to be built and distributed in Korea from the 2000s. However, we have a transformed definition from the international concept of penthouse. It seems that the penthouse apartments in Korea have a confined definition as a luxury and privileged house-we often find it out from advertisements of newly built apartments. In this thesis, therefore, it needs to make a clear and substantial definition of penthouse. And on the base of this definition, this study is intended to analyze planes of penthouse apartments which are distributed recently. It is in order to find out positive aspects of penthouse apartments and to make practical application of this analysis. The process of this study for plane-planning is as follows. Firstly, it is investigated and analyzed that external factors that have an effect on plane-planning such as locations and types of penthouse apartments. Secondly, an interior of penthouse apartments are divided into a private, public and outward area. And properties of each area through this research show the way of division and arrangement of plane. Thirdly, methods of connection between spaces is analyzed on the base of results of research for the way of partition. Finally, specific characters of penthouse apartments planning is derived from synthesis of research. In conclusion, analysis of plane-planning of penthouse apartments is summarized as follows. The majority of penthouse apartments is arranged to small portions of households and on higher stories in apartment which is situated around Han River or public parks. These external factors influence the plane-planning in both the interior and exterior way. For the exterior planning in space, it becomes important to design bays as many as possible in contact with outside in order to satisfy demands for fine prospects. It is also important to plan extra places naturally such as a terrace in order to provide virtual grounding. In the interior planning, a large size of interior induces to develop space for linking between each area, such as corridors or extra rooms. This makes it possible that the private area is linked to each other, at the same time it has its own distinctiveness according to its usage.

  • The query optimizer's important task while a query is invoked is to estimate the fraction of records in the databases that satisfy the given query condition. The query result size estimation in spatial databases, like relational databases, proceeds to partition the whole input into a small number of subsets called “buckets” and then estimate the fraction of the input in the buckets. The accuracy of estimation is determined by the difference between the real data counts and approximations in the buckets, and is dependent on how to partition the buckets. Existing techniques for spatial databases are equi-area and equi-count techniques, which are respectively analogous in relation databases to equi-height histogram that divides the input value range into buckets of equal size and equi-depth histogram that is equal to the number of records within each bucket. In this paper we propose a new partitioning technique that determines buckets according to the maximal difference of area which is defined as the product of data ranges End frequencies of input. In this new technique we consider both data values and frequencies of input data simultaneously, and thus achieve substantial improvements in accuracy over existing approaches. We present a detailed experimental study of the accuracy of query result size estimation comparing the proposed technique and the existing techniques using synthetic as well as real-life datasets. Experiments confirm that our proposed techniques offer better accuracy in query result size estimation than the existing techniques for space query size, bucket number, data number and data size.

  • In this paper, a new adaptive vertex clustering using a KD-tree is presented for 3D mesh partitioning. A vertex clustering is used to divide a huge 3D mesh into several partitions for various mesh processing. An octree-based clustering and K-means clustering are currently leading techniques. However, the octree-based methods practice uniform space divisions and so each partitioned mesh has non-uniformly distributed number of vertices and the difference in its size. The K-means clustering produces uniformly partitioned meshes but takes much time due to many repetitions and optimizations. Therefore, we propose to use a KD-tree to efficiently partition meshes with uniform number of vertices. The bounding box region of the given mesh is adaptively subdivided according to the number of vertices included and dynamically determined axis. As a result, the partitioned meshes have a property of compactness with uniformly distributed vertices.

  • In this study, a source locating technique applicable to transversely isotropic media was developed. Wave velocity anisotropy was considered based on the partition approximation method, which simply enabled AE source locating. Sets of P wave arrival time were decided by the two-step AIC algorithm and they were later used to locate the AE sources when having the least error compared with the partitioned elements. In order to validate the technique, pencil lead break test on artificial transversely isotropic mortar specimen was carried out. Defining the absolute error as the distance between the pencil lead break point and the located point, 1.60 mm ~ 14.46 mm of range and 8.57 mm of average were estimated therefore it was regarded as thought to be 'acceptable' considering the size of the specimen and the AE sensors. Comparing each absolute error under different threshold levels, results showed small discrepancies therefore this technique was hardly affected by background noise. Absolute error could be decomposed into each coordinate axis error and through it, effect of AE sensor position could be understood so if optimum sensor position was able to be decided, one could get more precise outcome.

  • Many researches on hierarchical path search have been studied so far. Even though partitioning regions is essential part, the researches are not enough. This paper proposes two efficient methods to partition regions: 1)a method based on voronoi algorithm in which a major node is central point of a region, 2) a method based on fired grid that partitions regions into major and minor. The performances of the proposed methods are compared with the conventional hierarchical path search method in which a region is formed by the boundary line of nearest 4 points of a major node in terms of the path search time and the accuracy. The results obtained from the experiments show that the method based on voronoi achieves short execution time and the method based grid achieves high accuracy.
