  • In this paper, a novel control scheme compensating for source voltage unbalance and current harmonics and power factor correction in unified active power filter systems combined with shunt passive filters is proposed, where no low/high-pass filter are used in deriving the reference voltage for compensation. Using digital all-pass filters, the phase angle and the reference voltages compensating for harmonic current and unbalanced voltage are derived from the positive sequence component of the unbalanced voltage. The amplitude of d-axis current in a series filter is controlled as zero for power factor correction. The validity of the proposed control scheme has been verified by experimental results.

  • For stabilization and improving power factor in the power lines, various Static Var Compensators(SVC) have been considered to be installed and partly applicated already. With all these merits of the SVC, it stil has demerits, principally evoking harmonic problems. So far, many harmonic reduction type inverters have been used in various parts. In this paper, the reactive power is controlled by amplitude of the output voltage. This paper propose that the multiple voltage source inverter have controllable power factor made by load vary at receive-stage as lagging and leakage control. The theoretical analysis on this system was confirmed through the computer simulation and the experiments.

  • In this paper, a new acoustic echo cancellation approach based on the DUET algorithm and scaling factor estimation is proposed to solve the scaling ambiguity in case of blind separation based acoustic echo cancellation in a noisy environment. In hands-free full-duplex communication system. acoustic noises picked up by the microphone are mixed with echo signal. For this reason, the echo cancellation system may provide poor performance. For that purpose, a degenerate unmixing estimation technique, adjusted in the time-frequency domain, is employed to separate undesired echo signals and noises. Also, since scaling and permutation ambiguities have not been solved in the blind source separation algorithm, kurtosis for the desired signal selection and a scaling factor estimation algorithm are utilized in this rarer for the separation of an echo signal. Simulation results demonstrate that the proposed approach yields better echo cancellation and noise reduction performances, compared with conventional methods.

  • The purpose of the study was to identify sources of particulate matters statistically and to estimate the mass contribution quantitatively in the Pusan metropolitan area. Then, the study has used the TTFA (target transformation factor analysis) model, a receptor model, to apportion aerosol mass with the raw data of 106 ambient samples characterized by 24 heavy metal variables. The TTFA was extensively applied to generate source profiles and their aerosol mass contributions. Though a couple of sources were not identified, four to seven sources were able to be extracted at 3 different sites (Jang Rim-Dong, Kwang Bok-Dong, and Kwang An-Dong) in Pusan area and finally mass conributions could be calculated.

  • Total particulate mater (TPM), $NO_2$ and $NH_3$ were measured simultaneously in the smoking and non-smoking locations during an eleven month period from March 1986 to January 1987 at three sites in Chicago : Illinois Institute of Technology Cafeteria, Rush-Presbyterian St. Lukes Medical Center Cafeteria and a downtown office building. From this study, the mean concentrations of $NO_2$ and $NH_3$ were not significantly different between the smoking and non-smoking locations at any sampling site ; however, there was a statistical difference for TPM between the smoking and non-smoking locations. Activity factor was useful for describing the contribution from indoor source. The linear regression analysis was reasonable method for discriminating the individual contribution of source to determine the emission factor. The TPM emission factor determined from this technique was in good agreement with value from the literature.

  • Generally in solar air conditioning system, the diode rectifier is used to build up DC link voltage from AC source. The diode rectifier is simple and cheap but it brings out the problems of low power factor and plentiful harmonics at the AC source. Also It can degrade the utilization rate of solar energy because the reverse of power flow cannot be made. Hence, in this paper to overcome the peak power problems in summer and to endure good AC input characteristics, solar air conditioning system using the PWM converter is proposed. A high input power factor of 97[%] and an efficiency of 98[%] are also obtained. The harmonic guide lines of proposed rectifier is no interfered with inverter switching, resulting in a simple, reliable and low cost ac to dc converters in comparison with the boost type current improving circuits.

  • In this paper, a new continuously and linearly controlled capacitive static VAR compensator is proposed for the automatic power factor correction of inductive single phase loads in 220V 50Hz power system networks. The compensator is constructed of a harmonic-suppressed TCR equipped with a new adaptive current controller. The harmonic-suppressed TCR is a new configuration that includes a thyristor controlled reactor (TCR) shunted by a passive third harmonic filter. In addition, the parallel configuration is connected to an AC source via a series first harmonic filter. The harmonic-suppressed TCR is designed so that negligible harmonic current components are injected into the AC source. The compensator is equipped with a new adaptive closed loop current controller, which responds linearly to reactive current demands. The no load operating losses of this compensator are negligible when compared to its capacitive reactive current rating. The proposed system is validated on PSpice which is very close in terms of performance to real hardware.

  • Economize the energy, further study is highly needed at the very beginning stage of the building plan. To fulfill this study, research of the buildings in Busan will be carried out, and find out the relations between pure load of buildings and capacity of heat & cooling equipment. Therefore this study is suggesting better idea of calculating capacity from having a thorough grasp of the problem with comparing and analyzing of extra-factor.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the clothing pursuit benefits of female consumers in twenties, and explain the differences in underwear purchase behaviors among them. For data collection, research questionnaires were responded by 232 female consumers living in Busan. The collected data were analyzed by the frequency factor analysis using SPSS 12.0 for Windows, the factor analysis using Varimax, reliability analysis, cluster analysis, ANOVA, Duncan test, and ${\chi}^2$-test. The results of this study were as follows: First, consumers' clothing pursuit benefit was drawn from six factors: Self-esteem, Individuality, Fashion, Brand, Practicality, and Price pursuit. The results of the factor analysis of clothing benefit were divided into four groups: Brand pursuit group, Fashion pursuit group, Self-esteem pursuit group, and Individuality/rationality pursuit group. Second, the results of analysing underwear purchase behaviors among clothing pursuit benefit groups showed significant differences in purchase motive, source of information, evaluation criteria, and purchase practices. The underwear purchase motives were significantly different in diversity purchase factor between the groups; sources of information used for underwear purchase were significantly different in the window display factor. The underwear evaluation criteria were significantly different among the groups in decoration and practicality factors, while purchase practices were significantly different among the groups only in underwear purchasing places.
