  • Purpose: Environmental education-research mainly focuses on the relationship between people and the environment. The purpose of this study is to focus on elaborating on the various ethical behaviors crucial in environmental education-related research. The study utilized a literature review of initial studies conducted on the topic as the primary source of information. Research design, data and methodology: This study has selected the literature content analysis as a research design because this analysis tool provided the present author numerous and tremendous previous works in the realm of authors' ethical issues within environmental education area and prior research already confirmed the high quality of an instrument. Results: Based on the investigation of the literature analysis, the findings emphasize that, while making any choice regarding environmental studies and research, authors and researchers must consider how ethical behavior might be applied to the particular circumstance. There are three ethical behaviors for authors and they can be founded in the section 3 of this study. Conclusions: As a conclusion of this study, three major subfields of environmental ethics-resource ethics, animal ethics, and ethics of nature protection-serve as the foundation for ethical behavior in research on environmental education. The ethical treatment of scarce resources, deployable resources, and environmental media.

  • Purpose: This study proposes a model for future research agendas on knowledge management activities as a source of increasing sustainable competitive advantage. Based on the literature, the role of knowledge management in sustainable competitive advantage does not necessarily have a significant effect but involves other variables. For this reason, future research proposals on the role of knowledge management on sustainable competitive advantage and other relevant variables need to be carried out. Research design, data, and methodology: This research uses a literature study. The model development stage is (1) relevant research studies, (2) identification of relevant theories and related variables, (3) developing and making a hypothesis (4) proposed model. Results: From the literature study, it was found that knowledge management plays a role in increasing managerial competence, market orientation, and innovation. Furthermore, managerial competence, market orientation, and innovation significantly affect sustainable competitive advantage. However, other studies have found a different relationship. Conclusions: This study proposes a research model on the role of knowledge management, managerial competence, market orientation, and innovation to improve sustainable competitive advantage. The study results can be used for further research based on the proposed model and as a reference for company owners and management to increase competitive advantage.

  • The dynamic response characteristics of Tension Leg Platforms(TLPs) in waves are examined for presenting the basic data for design of TLPs. The numerical approach is based on a combination of the three dimensional source distribution method and the dynamic response analysis method, in which the superstructure of TLP is assumed to be flexible instead of rigid. Restoring forces by hydrostatic pressure on the submerged surface of a TLP have been accurately calculated by excluding the assumption of the slender body theory. The hydrodynamic interactions among TLP members, such as columns and pontoons, and the structural damping are included in the motion and structural analysis. Numerical results are compared with the experimental ones, which are obtained in the literature, concerning the motion and tension responses of a TLP in waves. The results of comparison confirmed the validity of the proposed approach.

  • The purpose of this article is to examine the role of similarity in the metaphor and simile preference and offer empirical evidence against the equivalence view of simile and metaphor. This evidence was obtained from two experiments to examine the correlation between the similarity ratings and the preference ratings. The results suggest that Korean people choose the metaphor form when the similarity of a target and a source increases, whereas they choose the simile form when the similarity of a target and a source decreases. The results from these experiments are consistent with Chiappe and Kennedy's (1999, 2001) findings. Moreover, the experiments found that Korean people were more likely to express particular comparisons as similes over metaphors than American people.

  • A numerical procedure is described fro predicting the motion and structural responses of tension leg platforms(TLPs) in waves. The developed numerical approach is based on a combination of a three dimensional source distribution method and the dynamic response analysis method, in which the superstructure of TLPs is assumed flexible instead of the rigid body assumption used in tow-step analysis method. Both the hydrodynamic interactions among TLP members, such as columns and pontoons, and the structural whole structure are formulated using element-fixed coordinate systems which have the origin at the node of the each hull element and move parallel to a space-fixed coordinate system. Numerical results are compared with the experimental and numerical ones, which are obtained in the literature, concerning the motion and structural responses of a TLP in waves. The results of comparison confirmed the validity of the proposed approach.

  • In this paper, a thermo-viscoelastic problem in an infinite isotropic medium in two dimensions in the presence of a point heat source is considered. The fundamental equations of the problems of generalized thermoelasticity including heat sources in a thermo-viscoelastic media have been derived in the form of a vector matrix differential equation in the Laplace-Fourier transform domain for a two dimensional problem. These equations have been solved by the eigenvalue approach. The results have been compared to those available in the existing literature. The graphs have been drawn for different cases.

  • Threat is one special type of communication whereby one conveys opinion, knowledge, or attitude to another with an intention to influence and modify the latter's opinion or behavior. This research aims at identifying the antecedents and the effectiveness of threats applied in the process of purchasing decision-making. The research model integrates constructs derived from the literature of diverse discipline. The framework suggested explains the relative effects of threats, is tested empirically to verify the impacts on the influenced target's opinions and behaviors in buying centers. Data are collected from CAPM's members in Taiwan, and 208 respondents served as targets in the interpersonal relationships. LISREL findings indicate that threats are effective in winning a target's compliance. Additionally, influencing source's characteristics affect the choice of threats more strongly than target characteristics do. The relative ability of dependence on the source to cause manifest influence is even more significant than that of threats. Overall, the results of this study appear consistent with behavioral theories and research.

  • How can business ecosystems be a source of firm's competitiveness? Is corporate social responsibility (CSR) is an investment activity for building sustainable business ecosystems? The purpose of this research is to identify the relationship between CSR, social value, sustainable business ecosystems, and firm's competitiveness by introducing a mediating role of social capital. We conducted in-depth interviews with seven informants from two domestic firms and four oversea firms. Three propositions were drawn by analyzing qualitative data collected from the interviews and literature review. Various activities creating social value including CSR and CSV (Creating Shared Value) are positively associated with sustainable business ecosystems. Firm accumulates social capital of the business ecosystem through creation of social value. Finally, the social capital of business ecosystem has a positive influence on firm's competitiveness. Implications were suggested for academics and practitioners.

  • To design very large ships, such as very large drillships, we have to estimate the hydroelastic responses of the very large ships in waves. A numerical procedure is described for estimating the hydroelastic responses of very large ships advancing with slow speed in waves. The developed numerical approach is based on a combination of the three-dimensional source distribution method and the finite element method, including fluid-structure interaction by regarding a very large ship as many hull elements connected with elastic beam elements. Numerical results are compared with experimental and numerical ones obtained in the literature. The results of comparison confirmed the validity of the proposed approach.

  • A three-dimensional source distribution method is presented for the prediction of motions and vertical bending moments of ships travelling with forward speed in regular waves. Comparisons between theoretical and experimental results are shown for the motion responses and vertical bending moment of the S175 container ship model by Watanabe et al. The model ship was made of synthetic resins so as to simulate bending rigidity of a full scale ship. Numerical results are compared with experimental and numerical ones obtained in the literature. The results of comparison confirmed the validity of the proposed approach.
