색채가 소음의 라우드니스 평가에 미치는 영향 (Colour Effect on the Loudness Perception of Road Traffic Noise)

  • This study aims to offer psychological stability and pleasure by reducing noise perception using appropriate visual information which fit to the situation and useful data for the soundscape design. The results can be summarized as follows; 1) In the Loudness evaluation of the visual information with green colored scenary showed lower evaluation rather than the other colors. 2) With the Green and Blue colored scenary with road traffic and shopping street alongside the road, lower perception of road traffic noise was showed. 3) With the White and Red scenary higher evaluation was showed than the original sound, but with the Green colored scenary lower evaluation was showed than the standard sound.

Korean Native Speakers' Perception of English Sounds According to the Groupings of Phonetic Contrasts

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate Korean native speakers' perception of English sounds according to groupings of phonetic contrasts. The four groupings looked at were vowels, voicing (voiced-unvoiced), fricatives with difference in place of articulation, and other clusters of specific sound contrasts, such as stop-fricatives and liquids. The position of a sound in syllable was also examined. According to the results of ANOVA and a post-hoc analysis, the perception of vowels, in the medial position was different from that of consonants in the initial and final position. Vowels proved to be the most difficult group to perceive correctly. With the consonants, there was not a big difference whether the contrasts came initially or finally. The order of difficulty was liquids, fricatives, stop-fricatives, and finally voicing.

실시간 입체 음상 제어 시스템의 구현 (Implementation of Real-Time Sound Image Control System)

  • 본 논문에서는 입체 음상 제어 알고리즘을 실시간 처리에 적합하도록 재구성하였으며, 범용 DSP 칩인 TI사의 TMS320C40 기반의 디지털 신호처리 보드를 이용하여 실시간 구현하였다. 구현된 실시간 입체 음상 제어 시스템의 성능은 청취 실험을 통하여 평가되었다. 청취실험 결과, 정위된 허음상은 헤드폰과 스피커를 통하여 지각이 가능하였으며. 헤드폰을 통해 재생된 음상이 스피커를 통해 재생된 음상보다 지각이 잘되는 것으로 나타났다. 고도각 지각 실험에서는 전후방향보다 좌우방향의 지각이 우수하게 나타났으며, 정지음보다 이동음의 지각이 우수하게 나타났다.

  • This paper presents basic data on loudness level and loudness along with data obtained by the authors, and describes an application of the idea of masked loudness to perception of music in the presence of noise. It is shown that timbre or sound quality of music is well explained by masked loudness vs frequency characteristic.

1/3-옥타브 대역통과필터를 이용한 음상정위기법 성능 향상 (Improving a Sound Localization Using 1/3-octave Band Pass Filter)

  • 인간의 청각기관은 소리의 방향과 거리인지에 있어서 여러 가지의 정보들을 복합적으로 이용한다. 이러한 양 귀에 들어오는 소리세기의 차이, 위상의 차이, 그리고 주파수 스펙트럼의 차이 등의 정보들을 종합적으로 포함하고 있는 것이 머리전달함수이다. 본 논문에서는 이 머리전달함수를 이용한 3차원 음상정위를 위해 사람의 청각기관에 알맞은 1/3-옥타브 대역통과필터를 이용한 알고리즘을 제안한다. 먼저 측정된 머리전달함수의 음색왜곡 및 음질저하를 최소화하기 위해 1/3-옥타브 대역통과필터를 이용해 간략화시켰으며, 간략화된 데이터베이스를 크기와 시간의 부분으로 나누어 모듈을 구성하였다. 이의 성능평가를 위해 객관평가와 주관평가를 실시하였으며, 실험결과 85.7%정도의 음상정위의 성능 개선을 가져왔다.

회귀모형과 신경망모형을 이용한 차량공조시스템의 음질 인덱스 구축 (Construction of Sound Quality Index for the Vehicle HVAC System Using Regression Model and Neural Network Model)

  • The reduction of the vehicle interior noise has been the main interest of NVH engineers. The driver's perception on the vehicle noise is affected largely by psychoacoustic characteristic of the noise as well as the SPL. In particular, the HVAC sound among the vehicle interior noise has been reflected sensitively in the side of psychology. Even though the HVAC noise is not louder than overall noise level, it clearly affects subjective perception in the way of making a diver become nervous or annoyed. Therefore, these days a vehicle engineer takes aim at developing sound quality as well as reduction of noise. In this paper, we acquired noises in the HVAC from many vehicles. Through the objective and subjective sound quality evaluation with acquiring noises caused by the vehicle HVAC system, the simple and multiple regression models were obtained for the subjective evaluation 'Pleasant' using the sound quality metrics. The regression procedure also allows you to produce diagnostic statistics to evaluate the regression estimates including appropriation and accuracy. Furthermore, the neural network model were obtained using three inputs(loudness, sharpness and roughness) of the sound quality metrics and one output(subjective 'Pleasant'). And then the models were compared with correlations between sound quality index outputs and hearing test results for 'Pleasant'. As a result of application of the sound quality index, the neural network was verified with the largest correlation of the sound quality index.

음질을 고려한 환경소음 평가 인자의 기여도분석에 관한 연구 (A Study of the Sound Quality Characteristics for Environmental Noise Assessments Parameters)

  • 소음에 대한 인간의 심리적 인지는 소음의 여러 가지 물리적 요인에 의하여 영향을 받는다. 그러나 현재의 환경소음 평가는 A 가중치 등가 소음 수준을 기준으로 평가되고 있으며 인간의 다양한 감성적 요인을 반영하지 못하고 있다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 환경소음 평가를 위하여 환경소음원 43개에 대하여 주관평가와 통계적 분석방법을 사용하여 인간의 감성에 영향을 주는 음질인자 (Sound quality factor)를 분석하였다. 분석방법은 먼저 다양한 환경소음원에 대한 음질물리량 (Sound quality metrics)을 분석하여 음원을 분류하였으며 분류된 음원의 주된 음질 물리량을 고찰하였다. 그리고 쌍대비교법 (Paired comparisons method)과 어의분별척도법 (Semantic differential method)을 사용하여 주관 평가를 실시하고 음질의 요인을 분석하였으며 물리량과의 관계를 규명하였다. 마지막으로 요인에 대한 물리량의 기여도를 분석함으로써 환경소음의 감성적 인지에 대한 기초 물리량을 설정하였다.

Even though the HVAC noise is not louder than overall noise level, it clearly affects subjective perception to drivers in the way of making to be nervous or annoyed. Therefore, these days a vehicle engineer takes aim at developing sound quality as well as reduction of noise. In this paper, we acquired noises in the HVAC from many vehicles. Through the objective and subjective sound quality (SQ) evaluation with acquiring noises recorded by the vehicle HVAC system, the simple and multiple regression models were obtained for the subjective evaluation 'Pleasant' using the semantic differential method (SDM). The regression procedure also allows you to produce diagnostic statistics to evaluate the regression estimates including appropriation and accuracy. Furthermore, the neural network (NN) model were obtained using three inputs(loudness, sharpness and roughness) of the SQ metrics and one output(subjective 'Pleasant'). Because human's perception is very complex and hard to estimate their pattern, we used NN model. The estimated models were compared with correlations between output indexes of SQ and hearing test results for verification data 'Pleasant'. As a result of application of the SQ indexes, the NN model was shown with the largest correlation of SQ indexes and we found possibilities to predict the SQ metrics.

An Investigation of Perceived and Performed Sound Durations

  • The aims of this study were to describe the way in which sound durations are perceived, and to attempt to explain the hidden mechanisms of the duration perception in music performances. Three experiments were carried out to determine the difference limen for the perception of sound duration and to find the effects of frequency and intensity on duration discrimination. For short duration tones ranging from 25 to 100 msec, a linear improvement in discrimination judgements was found with increasing duration of signal. The JND was constant for durations between 100 msec and 2 sec. However, for extended stimulus durations (more than 2 sec) the JND was again linearly improved. Subjects were also presented with a pair of stimuli, composed of high and low frequency pure tones, and asked to discriminate differences in duration of the two tones and ignore differences in the frequency of the tones. It was found that subjects perceived the higher frequency to be longer in duration. When an experiment was carried out to investigate the effect of intensity on duration discrimination it was found that a 20 phon difference makes subjects perceive the louder stimulus as longer than the quieter stimulus. Finally, in a performance study, an analysis of musical performances revealed the effect of frequency. It was found that the musicians played the higher notes shorter than the lower notes. This agrees with what was previously found in the work on the perception of tones.

認知建枸主義教學說計 在漢語發音教育中的必要性

  • We use prototypes (also known as referent in semiotics) when we understand the outside world. Different language users use different prototypes to decode the same sound. When we learn Chinese language as a foreign language, during it's sound perceptual process, Korean learners' target language prototypes are different from Chinese native speakers'. The purpose of the paper is to examine the theory of speech perception and the theory of constructivism teaching, and to suggest to the Chinese language teachers to have Cunstructivist approach while they design there teaching course. For this, we concerned three things: First is to review speech perception theory and constructivism teaching theory. Second based on the preceding study, we review that learner's prototypes are different from Chinese native speaker and this cause the error of listening and pronunciation. Finally, we introduced two simple speech visualization programs developed to help us learn pronunciation.
