Based on the anthropometric data of Korea male adults, a head and torso simulator(HATS) is constructed to measure its head related transfer functions (HRTFs) which can be used for three dimensional (3-D) sound localization. The HRTFs binaural impulse responses, are measured in an anechoic chamber using a burst maximum length sequence (MLS) signal of 65,535 samples and 32,768 samples acquisition at the sampling rate of 75.47kHz. Also measured are the impulse responses of a driving loudspeaker and some headphones for sound reproduction to get the exact HRTF of the HATS-alone. Through a post-processing procedure, the impulse-version HRTFs at the sampling frequency of 44.1 kHz, which have filter lengths of 512 points, are finally obtained. As an application of the measured HRTFs, a 3-D sound processor for headphone reproduction has been developed. The signal intervals to be processed can be selected and each interval is manipulated to have its diretionality and distance information by using corresponding HRTF and energy control.

In this paper, we propose an unmanned patient monitoring system design and performance of a motion capture and sound detection. Unmanned patient monitoring system can be used in the greek koma and meaning deep sleep patient to need 24 hour surveillance. To monitoring, we used laptop, CCTV camera (or PC camera), A/D converter, microphone and detection program. The detection program based on the frame difference method and sound level meter. It had several functions such as data collecting and storing. All of this system was tested in several the simulations of emergency situations. It can be expected that an unmanned patient monitoring system can be used in emergency situation and patient care.

This study receives the noise transmitted in a constant audio frequency range through a microphone array in which the noise(like grease in a pan) occurs on the power supply line due to the troublesome partial discharge(arc). Then by going through a series of signal processing of removing noise, this study measures the distance and direction up to the noise caused by the troublesome partial discharge(arc) and monitors the result by displaying in the analog and digital method. After these, it determines the state of each size and judges the distance and direction of problematic part. When the signal sound transmitted by the signal source of bad insulator is received on each microphone, the signal comes only in the frequency range of 20 kHz by passing through the circuit of amplification and 6th low pass filter. Then, this signal is entered in a digital value of digital signal processing(TMS320F2812) through the 16-bit A/D conversion. By doing so, the sound distance, direction and coordinate of bad insulator can be detected by realizing the correlation method of detecting the arriving time difference occurring on each microphone and the algorithm of detecting maximum time difference.

When the input sound is mixed voice and sound, it can be seen that the voice recognition rate is lowered due to the noise, and the speech recognition rate is improved by improving the MEMS device which is the H / W device in order to overcome the S/W processing limit. The MEMS microphone device is a device for inputting voice and is implemented in various shapes and used. Conventional MEMS microphones generally exhibit excellent performance, but in a special environment such as noise, there is a problem that the processing performance is deteriorated due to a mixture of voice and sound. To overcome these problems, we developed a newly designed MEMS device that can detect the voice characteristics of the initial input device.

Due to the rapid development of Information and communication, the technology of multimedia presentation technology is evolving into the service that user can actively, realistically enjoy and play based on user's preference and taste not only for User's passive service. Especially, the industry related the realistic multimedia service that supports targeting Human emotion with the property of Human hearing is expected to be formed of the high value-added premium market. Audio technology is affected on human's emotion and the viewing environment around than video technology. Also the audio technology compared to video technology is a research part that appeals to human emotion and emphasize on psychological aspects. With this viewpoint, the development of intelligent and realistic audio technology needs highly specialty. In this study, "intelligent real-sound presentation technology" that support high quality and realistic audio and the "core technologies" that are composing of this will be introduced.
We present a speech processing strategy incorporating instantaneous frequency (IF) encoding for the enhancement of melody recognition performance of cochlear implants. For the IF extraction from incoming sound, we propose the use of a Teager energy operator (TEO), which is advantageous for its lower computational load. From time-frequency analysis, we verified that the TEO-based method provides proper IF encoding of input sound, which is crucial for melody recognition. Similar benefit could be obtained also from the use of a Hilbert transform (HT), but much higher computational cost was required. The melody recognition performance of the proposed speech processing strategy was compared with those of a conventional strategy using envelope extraction, and the HT-based IF encoding. Hearing tests on normal subjects were performed using acoustic simulation and a musical contour identification task. Insignificant difference in melody recognition performance was observed between the TEO-based and HT-based IF encodings, and both were superior to the conventional strategy. However, the TEO-based strategy was advantageous considering that it was approximately 35% faster than the HT-based strategy.
To improve the quality of the product and the cost efficiency, the joining of A356 alloy to an Al-18wt%Si alloys has been performed by centrifugal casting. The influence of the mold preheating temperature, the pouring temperature and the rotational velocity of the mold on the microstructures of the shell in the centrifugal casting was investigated using the experimental and simulation methods. In the present study, the cellular automaton (CA) technique and the finite volume method (FVM) were adopted to simulate the evolution of the macro structures and to calculate the temperature profiles, respectively. The evolution of the microstructures was also simulated using a modified cellular automaton (MCA) model. The optimal rotational speed of the mold for obtaining the sound shape of the shell was estimated experimentally to be over 1200 rpm. For the uniform microstructure, the outer shell needs to be cast with higher preheated mold temperature and lower pouring temperature, and the melt was poured at lower temperature in the inner shell. In order to obtain the sound shape of the joining, the different materials were poured simultaneously.
We developed a electronic music glove (BMG) system that plays musical scores in real time processing. The EMG system interfaces with the signal coming from the controller to the sound card in the computer, The computer, according to the status of the fingers and foot switches, generates the sound signals and sends them to the speaker systems through the application C++ program and MIDI message. The EMG systems control the velocity and duration of sound and several musical performance expressions such as chorus, reverberation, rhythm, and volume. Finally, we implemented the digital drum set using: the EMG system as example.

Recently, modern reciprocating air compressors tend to be smaller and lighter. But, as the development of performance, they have many problems for noise and vibration. For this reason, many researches are processing for the reduction of noise and vibration by arranging cylinders with V/W type. Especially, noise and vibration problems of reciprocating air compressor cause a rotating unbalance of crankshaft, so it needs a change of crankshaft parameters appropriately. Hence in this study, we changed crankshaft parameters to solve the rotating unbalance and compared results in order to verify the noise and vibration reduction between new and original air compressor. According to modify a crankshaft parameter, the improvements of noise and vibration were showed results of spectrum measured at selected points of the air compressor crankshaft housing and sound intensity contours measured at a belt left side, table that figure out characteristics of noise. Furthermore, we analyzed objective sound quality metrics with recording data of systems. The results showed that, the new design has improved the level of the first harmonic of vibration displacement, noise and objective sound quality metrics.

In order to make unmanned machining systems with satisfactory performances, it is necessary to incorporate appropriate condition monitoring systems in the machining workstation to provide the required intelligence of the expert. This paper deals with condition monitoring for tool wear and fracture during turning operation. Developing economic sensing and identification methods for turning processes, sound pressure measurement and digital signal processing technique are proposed. The validity of the proposed system is confirmed through the large number of cutting tests.
