  • A network is made up of interconnected switching units. The role of a switching unit is to set up a connection between and input port and an output, according to the routing information. But then the most switching network use Banyan switch, their occurs the internal blocking , which attempts to use the same link two cells. This paper proposed and designed for a improvement Batch-Banyan network which can routed two path assignment between its input ports and output ports without only blocking. The network is constructed of two sorting blocks ($4{\times}4$), one switch network($8{\times}8$) block. As a result, the switch network performance increased 4% reduced to half of the hardware complexity of sorting boxes when compare the new switching system with Batcher-Banyan network system.

  • Hot pepper can be easily faded or discolored in drying process, so we need to use the sorting technique to improve the quality for dried hot pepper. Independent Component Analysis (ICA) is one of the most widely used methods for blind source separation. In this paper we use this technique to get a concentration image of the most important component which plays a role in the dried pepper. This concentration image is different from the binary image and it reflects the characteristics of major components, so that we know the distribution and quality of the component and how to sort the dried pepper. Also, the size of the concentration image can tell the relation with capsaicinoids which make hot taste. We propose a sorting method of the dried hot pepper that is faded or discolored and lacked a major component likes capsaicin in drying process using ICA concentration image.

  • According to the revised guideline for information & communication technology, algorithm has to be dealt with the learning contents from elementary school, so now it needs to study various educational methods for students to learn algorithm easily and effectively. In this study, after selecting sort algorithms as the content of learning, which is recognized as an important part of algorithm, an playing activity-based algorithm teaching method and an animation-based algorithm learning and teaching method were applied for the lower graders of an elementary school. Sorting algorithm education is adopted in two different ways, then we got two conclusions after analyzing the results of a specially designed achievement test and the questionnaire. First, there were not great differences in both educational methods in academic achievement, but it was clear that the lower grade elementary students can learn algorithm with ease. Second, the playing activity-centered algorithm education is more effective than animation-based education in improving students' comprehension, interest and satisfaction.

  • In this paper, contour plot is considered as a method to explore the structure of categorical data. For this purpose, the paper suggests a method to sort two-way contingency table with respect to the expected marginals. It is found that the suggested plot provides us with valuable information for the underlying data structure. Firstly, we can investigate independency between the categories by examining the differences of expected frequency contours and observed frequency contours. With the plot, we can also visually investigate the existence of outliers inherent in the data. These properties of the suggested contour plot will be demonstrated by several sets of real data.

  • The Pancake graph is node symmetric and useful interconnection network in the field of data sorting algorithm. The Half Pancake graph is a new interconnection network that reduces the degree of the Pancake graph by approximately half and improves the network cost of the Pancake graph. In this paper, we analyze topological properties of the Half Pancake graph $HP_n$. Fist, we prove that $HP_n$ has maximally fault tolerance and recursive scalability. In addition, we show that in $HP_n$, there are isomorphic graphs of low-dimensional $HP_n$. Also, we propose that the Bubblesort $B_n$ can be embedded into Half Pancake $HP_n$ with dilation 5, expansion 1. These results mean that various algorithms designed for the Pancake graph and the Bubble sort graph can be executed on $HP_n$ efficiently.

  • Recently, street fashion has been regularly introduced in many fashion media because both consumers and marketers began to recognize the importance of street fashion as a meaningful and objective fashion information source. As the globalization proceeds in fashion field,' the street fashion informations in major cities which has led world fashion trends become more influential on domestic fashion, but little concern has been paid on it. This study classified women's street fashion in 4 major world fashion cities such as Paris, London, New York, Tokyo and identified style characteristics of each group. For data collection, 795 front-view photos were selected from the two fashion trade publication 'STREET' and 'VIEW' which has introduced street fashion photos in those cities from 1996. Classification process went on three stages: sorting, naming and grouping. 49 undergraduate students were divided into 12 teams and about 80 photos were given to each team to sort into several sub-groups by overall images or common style characteristics. Then each sub-group was named according to common images or characteristics. Final groups came out after grouping each sub-group with a similar or same title together. For each group, common style characteristics were analyzed.

  • In this study, the machine vision system for inspection using color recognition method have been designed and developed to automatically sort out a specified material such as Cu scraps or other non-ferrous metal scraps mixed in Fe scraps. The system consists of a CCD camera, light sources, a frame grabber, conveying devices and an air nozzled ejector, and is program-controlled by a image processing algorithm. The ejector is designed to be operated by an I/O interface communication with a hardware controller. The sorting examination results show that the efficiency of separating Cu scraps from the Fe scraps mixed with Cu scraps is around 90 % at the conveying speed of 15 m/min. and the system is proven to be excellent in terms of its efficiency. Therefore, it is expected that the system can be commercialized in shredder firms, if the high-speed automated sorting system will be realized.

  • The existing fruit sorter has the method of tilting tray and extracting fruits by the action of solenoid or springs. In peaches, the most sort processing is supported by man because the sorter make fatal damage to peaches. In order to sustain commodity and quality of peach non-destructive, non-contact and real time based sorter was needed. This study was performed to develop peach sorter using near-infrared spectroscopy in real time and nondestructively. The prototype was developed to decrease internal and external damage of peach caused by the sorter, which had a way of extracting tray with it. To decrease positioning error of measuring sugar contents in peaches, fiber optic with two direction diverged was developed and attached to the prototype. The program for sorting and operating the prototype was developed using visual basic 6.0 language to measure several quality index such as chlorophyll, some defect, sugar contents. The all sorting result was saved to return farmers for being index of good quality production. Using the prototype, program and MLR(multiple linear regression) model, it was possible to estimate sugar content of peaches with the determination coefficient of 0.71 and SEC of 0.42bx using 16 wavelengths. The developed MLR model had determination coefficient of 0.69, and SEP of 0.49bx, it was better result than single point measurement of 1999's. The peach sweetness grading system based on NIR reflectance method, which consists of photodiode-array sensor, quartz-halogen lamp and fiber optic diverged two bundles for transmitting the light and detecting the reflected light, was developed and evaluated. It was possible to predict the soluble solid contents of peaches in real time and nondestructively using the system which had the accuracy of 91 percentage and the capacity of 7,200 peaches per an hour for grading 2 classes by sugar contents. Draining is one of important factors for production peaches having good qualities. The reason why one farm's product belows others could be estimated for bad draining, over-much nitrogen fertilizer, soil characteristics, etc. After this, the report saved by the peach grading system will have to be good materials to farmers for production high quality peaches. They could share the result or compare with others and diagnose their cultural practice.
