Design optimization of layered plates bonding process is conducted to achieve high product quality by considering uncertainties in a manufacturing process. During the cooling process of the sequential sub-processes, different thermal expansion coefficients lead to residual stress and displacement. thus resulting in defects on the surface of the adherent. So robust process optimization is performed to minimize the residual stress mean and variation of the assembly while constraining the distortion as well as the instantaneous maximum stress to the allowable limits. In robust process optimization, the dimension reduction (DR) method is employed to quantify both reliability and quality of the layered plate bonding. Using this method. the average and standard deviation is estimated. Response surface is constructed using the statistical data obtained by the DRM for robust objectives and constraints. from which the optimum solution is obtained.
In this research, the layout and geometry of U-type ribs in the part, including significant process conditions, are automatically optimized to reduce part warpage with robustness in consideration. The optimization procedure are based on an iterative redesign methodology integrated with computer aided injection molding simulation, Taguchi's Design of Experiment(DOE), and a direct search-based optimization method. The robustness of a design alternative is efficiently measured by introducing composite noise factor and Taguchi's signal-to-noise ratio. As a solution search methodology, the modified design space reduction method based on orthogonal arrays is employed to exploit an optimal robust design alternative. To illustrate the proposed methodology, a case study is performed on simulation results, where an optimal robust design alternative is obtained with a moderate number of iterations.

Across the most industry, the demand for nanoparticles is increasing. Therefore, many studies have been carried out to synthesize nanoparticles using various methods. The aim of this paper is to introduce an industry-applicable as well as financially and environmentally effective solution plasma process. The solution plasma process involves fewer chemicals than the traditional kit, and can be used to replace many of the chemical agents employed in previous synthesis of nanoparticles into plasma. In this study, this process is compared to the wet-reaction process that has thus far been widely used in the most industry. Furthermore, the solution plasma process has been classified into four different types (in-solution, out of solution, direct type, and remote type), according to its plasma occurrence position and plasma types. Thus, the source of radicals, nanoparticle synthesis, and modification methods are explained for each design. Lastly, unlike nanoparticles with hydrophilic functional groups that are made inside the solution, a nanoparticle synthesis and modification method to create a hydrophobic functional group is also proposed.
A new method for reducing the common-mode current generated by the voltage variations in a two-inverter air conditioner system by applying a synchronized pulse-width modulation (PWM) strategy is proposed. The PWM signals of the master-mode inverter are generated based on the reference voltage, while those of the slave-mode inverter are output in the opposite direction when the master-mode inverter changes its switching state. However, the slave-mode control results in a mismatch between the reference voltage and the actual output voltage that is modified by synchronized control operation. The proposed method is capable of reducing and controlling this voltage error by performing signal selection in the vector space of the slave-mode inverter, which mitigates the distortion of the phase current. The efficacy of this method in reducing conducted emissions has been validated both theoretically and experimentally.
The purpose of this study was to examine the optimum condition of impulse during the anodic spark oxidation applying pulse current as well as to find the excellent condition for HA precipitation the after electrochemical hydrothermal treatment by cathode reduction method. After anodic spark oxidation, the anodized specimen and the Pt plate connected cathode and anode, respectively. Hydrothermal treatment performed at 90, 120, $150^{\circ}C$ for 2 hours in the electrolyte containing $K_2HPO_4$, $CaCl_2{\cdot}2H_2O$, Tris(Hydroxymethyl)-$(CH_2OH)_3\;CNH_2$(Aminomethane), and NaCl. The optimum impulse voltage for anodic spark oxidation was 350V. The optimum pulse cycle measured at 10 mS. The HA crystals precipitated excellently by cathode reduction at $150^{\circ}C$ for 2 hours. The phases of anatase, rutile, and HA coating on the surface of modified titanium surface immersed in Hanks' solution for 3weeks were detected by XRD measurement and the intensity of HA crystal phase has increased by temperature and time of hydrothermal treatment. According to the our experiments, we found that Pure Ti will be good materials of bioactivity and biocompatibility.
Under foundation shock mats have been used in the current practice in order to reduce/damp vibrations received by buildings through the surrounding environment. Although some investigations have been made on under foundation shock mats performance, their effectiveness in the reduction of railway induced-vibrations has not been fully studied, particularly with the consideration of underneath soil media. In this regard, this research is aimed at investigating performance of shock mat used beneath building foundation for reduction of railway induced-vibrations, taking into account soil-structure interaction. For this purpose, a 2D finite/infinite element model of a building and its surrounding soil media was developed. It includes an elastic soil media, a railway embankment, a shock mat, and the building. The model results were validated using an analytical solution reported in the literature. The performance of shock mats was examined by an extensive parametric analysis on the soil type, bedding modulus of shock mat and dominant excitation frequency. The results obtained indicated that although the shock mat can substantially reduce the building vibrations, its performance is significantly influenced by its underneath soil media. The softer the soil, the lower the shock mat efficiency. Also, as the train excitation frequency increases, a better performance of shock-mats is observed. A simplified model/method was developed for prediction of shock mat effectiveness in reduction of railway-induced vibrations, making use of the results obtained.
One of important factors in designing MEMS resonators for RF filters is obtaining a desired frequency response function (FRF) within a specific frequency range of interest. Because various array-type MEMS resonators have been recently introduced to improve the filter characteristics such as bandwidth, pass-band, and shape factor, the degrees of freedom (DOF) of finite elements for their FRF calculation dramatically increases and therefore raises computational difficulties. In this paper the Krylov subspace-based model order reduction using moment-matching with non-zero expansion points is represented as a numerical solution to perform the frequency response analyses of those array-type MEMS resonators in an efficient way. By matching moments at a frequency around the specific operation range of the array-type resonators, the required FRF can be efficiently calculated regardless of their operating frequency from significantly reduced systems. In addition, because of the characteristics of the moment-matching method, a minimal order of reduced system with a prearranged accuracy can be determined through an error indicator using successive reduced models, which is very useful to automate the order reduction process and FRF calculation for structural optimization iterations. We also found out that the presented method could obtain the FRF of a $6\times6$ array-type resonator within a seventieth of the computational time necessary for the direct method and in addition FRF calculation by the mode superposition method could not even be completed because of a data overflow with a half after calculation of 9,722 eigenmodes.

An in-situ optical monitoring method for real-time process monitoring of electrochemical copper deposition (CED) is presented. Process variables to be controlled in achieving desired process results are numerous in the CED process, and the importance of the chemical bath conditions cannot be overemphasized for a successful process. Conventional monitoring of the chemical solution for CED relies on the pH value of the solution, electrical voltage level for the reduction of metal cations, and gravity measurement by immersing sensors into a plating bath. We propose a nonintrusive optical monitoring technique using three types of optical sensors such as chromatic sensors and UV/VIS spectroscopy sensors as potential candidates as a feasible optical monitoring method. By monitoring the color of the plating solution in the bath, we revealed that optically acquired information is strongly related to the thickness of the deposited copper on the wafers, and that the chromatic information is inversely proportional to the ratio of $Cu$ (111) and {$Cu$ (111)+$Cu$ (200)}, which can used to measure the quality of the chemical solution for electrochemical copper deposition in advanced interconnection technology.
An implicit finite difference formulation with three methods of latent heat treatment, such as equivalent specific heat method, temperature recovery method and enthalpy method, was applied to solidification analysis. The Neumann problem was solved to compare the numerical results with the exact solution. The implicit solutions with the equivalent specific heat method and the temperature recovery method were comparatively consistent with the Neumann exact solution for smaller time steps, but its error increased with increasing time step, especially in predicting the solidification beginning time. Although the computing time to solve energy equation using temperature recovery method was shorter than using enthalpy method, the method of releasing latent heat is not realistic and causes error. The implicit formulation of phase change problem requires enthalpy method to treat the release of latent heat reasonably. We have modified the enthalpy formulation in such a way that the enthalpy gradient term is not needed, and as a result of this modification, the computation stability and the computing time were improved.
