Uranyl hydrolysis precipitates were obtained by increasing pH value of aqueous uranyl solution in the range of neutral to alkaline pH value and their phase transformation during the solubility experiment under various conditions has been examined. The precipitates formed in the hydrolysis reaction of uranyl ion had a layered structure such as a meta-schoepite phase, a schoepite structure, or a mixed phase of meta-schoepite and schoepite. Phase transformation between them was strongly dependent on the pH value at which the precipitate was formed. The distance between the layers in meta-schoepite or schoepite phase was ∼7.35 Å, and it was increased with the pH value at which the precipitate was synthesized as well as the pH values of the aqueous solution. The phase transformation from a meta-schoepite to schoepite was fast for the precipitates formed at low pH values, however, it was not the case for the precipitates formed at high pH values. A small difference of pH value in aqueous solution gave a great change on its solubilities near pH 9.7, because a layered structure of the precipitates became amorphous above that pH value. Greater solubility for the precipitate formed at higher pH value can be explained from the fact that the precipitates formed at low pH value had a better crystallinity and also that the precipitates formed at higher pH value has a slower rate of crystallization.
The overall process, from the pre-treatment of aluminum substrates to the eco-friendly neutral electroless Ni-P plating process, was observed, compared, and analysed. To remove the surface oxide layer on the aluminum substrate and aid Ni-P plating, a zincation process was carried out. After the second zincation treatment, it was confirmed that a mostly uniform Zn layer was formed and the surface oxide of aluminum was also removed. The Ni-P electroless plating films were formed on the secondary zincated aluminum substrate using electroless plating solutions of pH 4.5 and neutral pH 7.0, respectively, while changing the plating bath temperature. When a neutral pH7.0 electroless solution was used, the Ni-P plating layer was uniformly formed even at the plating bath temperature of 50 ℃, and the plating speed was remarkably increased as the bath temperature was increased. On the other hand, when a pH 4.5 Ni-P electroless solution was used, a Ni-P plating film was not formed at a plating bath temperature of 50 ℃, and the plating speed was very slow compared to pH 7.0, although plating speed increased with increasing bath temperature. In the P contents, the P concentration of the neutral pH 7.0 Ni-P electroless plating layer was reduced by ~ 42.3 % compared to pH 4.5. Structurally, all of the Ni-P electroless plating layers formed in the pH 4.5 solution and the neutral (pH 7.0) solution had an amorphous crystal structure, as a Ni-P compound, regardless of the plating bath temperature.
To develop a simple test for evaluation crop tolerance to acid rain disks of recently matured leaves of 12 crops(rice, corn, barley, wheat, soybean, adzuki bean, Chinese cabbage, radish, lettuce, spinach, and tomato) were soaked in simulated acid rain(SAR) solutions for 1, 2, 3, and 4 hours. Changes in pH and electrical conductivity(EC) of leaf soaked solutions and changes in the color of the soaked leaves were observed. The pH and EC of leaf soaked solutions differed depending on the pH of SAR, crops, and soaking time. Among the crops differences in pH of leaf soaked solutions were most stable and significant for 1∼4 hour soaking in pH 4.0 SAR solution, but those of EC were for 1∼4 hour solaking in pH 5.0 SAR soultions. Color of leaves soaked in pH 2.0 SAR solutions was changed significantly, but not in the pH 3.0 or higher SAR solutions. Vis-ual damages of intact leaves caused by spray of pH 2.0 SAR solution in the greenhouse was posi-tively correlated with pH changes in pH 4.0 SAR solution, but not with EC changes in pH 5.0 SAR solution or color changes of leaves soaked in pH 2.0 soulution. The pH of solution was posi-tively correlated with Ca and Mg concentrations of the solutions and EC was positively correlated with K, Ca, and Mg.
We conducted this study as a fundamental study on the response of various tree species against acid rain. The tree species used for this study were Zelkova serrata, Robinia pseudoacacia, Quercus acutissima, Prunus serrulata, Ginkgo biloba, Pinus koraiensis and Pinus densiflora. The leaves were examined for the pH changes by treatment time and the chlorophyll content into various pH solution in vitro. The results obtained were as follows ; 1. When the leaves were immersed in the solution of various pH(pH 3.0-pH 6.0) levels, the pH were changed to species specific pH ranges as pH 5.0~pH 5.5 of Z. serrata, pH 5.5~pH 6.0 of R. pseudoacacia, pH 4.5~pH 5.0 of Q. acutissima, pH 5.5~pH 6.0 of P. serrulata, pH 3.5~pH 4.5 of G. biloba, pH 3.5~pH 4.5 of P. koraiensis until 48 hours. However, in case of P. densiflora, it was difficult to find specific pH range of the species. Z. serrata, R. pseudoacacia and P. serrulata showed a little pH increasing by pH 2.0 solution treatment, while other species showed no change by the solution. 2. The amount of chlorophyll contents in Z. serrata, R. pseudoacacia and P. serrulata were decreased after immersing in the pH 2.0 solution. Chlorophyll content was almost constant in other pH levels. Other species showed almost constant chlorophyll contents in various pH levels and treatment time.
The polarograms of Cd(II) in 0.15M tartrate solution were investigated in the range of pH values from 6.0 to 12.6 at 20$^{\circ}and 25$^{\circ}C. Up to pH value of 7.8, the limiting current and the halfwave potential were found to be constant, and when compared with the nitrate solution of the same $Cd^{++}$ concentration at the same ionic strength, the limiting current decreased by 28% and the halfwave potential shifted by -0.05 volt. The values of limiting current sharply decreased as the pH value exceeded 8.2 and the minimum values appeared at the pH values of 11.2~11.4. The values of halfwave potential gradually decreased as the pH value increased over 8.2 and the value of -0.78 volt was obtained at the pH value of 12.6. Possible mechanisms of electrode reaction were suggested and the anomalous behavior of reduction waves of Cd(II) in tartrate solution up to pH value of 9.4 was discussed.
The electrochemical behavior of cadmium(Ⅱ) in tartrate solution has been studied over the pH range of 6 to 13.6 in order to explain the phenomena of the changes in limiting current depending on the pH. The polarographic limiting current showed a constant value up to pH of 7.8, after which it decreased sharply to show a minimum at pH between 11 and 12. The limiting current, then, increased again with increasing pH. The number of peaks in cyclic voltammogram was 1 to 3 depending on the pH of the solution. Two other voltammetric peaks could be observed when the main reduction peak diminished. The decrease of limiting current at 7.5$Cd(C_4H_3O_6)^-$. The increase of limiting current at strong alkaline solution, however, was due to the complex $Cd(Tart)_2(OH)_2^{4-}$.

Purpose: It has been reported that the diversity and abundance of microbes in the vagina decrease due to the use of antimicrobial agents, and the high recurrence rate of female vaginitis due to this suggests that a new treatment is needed. Methods: In the experiment, we detected that 10% potassium sorbate solution, 1% eucalyptus oil solution, 1% tea tree oil solution, 400 µL/10 mL grapefruit seed extract solution, 100% lactic acid, 10% acetic acid solution, and 10% lactic acid solution were prepared and used. After adjusting the pH to 4, 5, and 6 with lactic acid and acetic acid in the mixed culture medium, each bacterium was inoculated into the medium and incubated for 72 h at 35℃. Incubate and 0 h each. 24 h. 48 h. The number of bacteria was measured after 72 h. Results: In the mixed culture test between lactic acid bacteria and pathogenic microorganisms, lactic acid bacteria showed good results at pH 5-5.5. Potassium sorbate, which has varying antibacterial activity based on the pH, killed pathogenic bacteria and allowed lactic acid bacteria to survive at pH 5.5. Conclusion: The formulation ratio obtained through this study could be used for the development of a feminine cleanser that can be used as a substitute for antibacterial agents. Further, the findings of this study may be able to solve the problem of antimicrobial resistance in the future.

In this paper, CdS thin films, which were widely used window layer of the CdTe and the Cu(In,Ga)$Se_2$ thin film solar cell, were grown by chemical bath deposition, and effects of pH of reaction solution on the structural and optical properties were investigated. For pH<10.5, as the pH of reaction solution was higher, the deposition rate of CdS films was increased by improving ion-by-ion reaction in the substrate surface and the crystallinity of the films was improved. However, when the pH was higher than 10.5, the deposition rate was decreased because of smaller $Cd^{2+}$ ion concentration in the reaction solution. Also, the crystallinity of the films were deteriorated. The CdS films deposited at lower pH showed poor optical transmittance due to adsorbed colloidal particles, while the transmittance was improved for higher pH.
Antioxygenic effects of browning reaction product(BRP) obtained from 2M L-ascorbic acid(AsA) solution by heating at $85^{\circ}C$ were investigated. BRP obtained from AsA solution(pH 2.30) without pH adjusting showed slightly antioxygenic effect. As heating time increased, powers of antioxygenic activity of BRP did not increase. Retained AsA after heating did not effect antioxygenic activity of AsA solution. After adjusting pH of AsA solution to 2.3, 4.0, 7.0, 9.0 and 11.5 respectively, BRP were obtained from these AsA solution by heating at $85^{\circ}C$ for 15 hrs. Among these BRPs, BRPs of pH 2.3 and 4.0 showed no antioxygenic effect, lower browning degree and higher retained AsA, but had stronger reducing power. While those of pH 7.0, 9.0 and 11.5 had stronger antioxygenic activity, higher browing degree and lower retained AsA, but showed weaker reducing power. After adjusting pH of AsA solution to 7.0, antioxygenic activities of BRP which was obtained from this AsA solution by heating respectively at $85^{\circ}C$ for 0, 3, 5, 10, 15 and 25 hrs increased in proportion to heating time.
In this study, the precipitation reaction of vanadium and ammonium chloride in aqueous solution was investigated in order to recover vanadium. Ammonium metavanadate having a crystal structure of [$NH_4VO_3$] was precipitated from aqueous solution containing vanadium at pH 9.2 ~ 9.4, and ammonium polyvanadate having a crystal structure of [$(NH_4)_2V_6O_{16}$] was precipitated when the pH of the aqueous solution containing vanadium was adjusted with sulfuric acid. Ammonium polyvanadate [$(NH_4)_2V_6O_{16}$] precipitated at a temperature of $80{\sim}90^{\circ}C$ and pH 2, and at a temperature of $40^{\circ}C$ and pH 6 ~ 8 of aqueous solution. In the acidic region of aqueous solution pH 2, the vanadium content of the aqueous solution should be at least 3,000 mg/L and the precipitation temperature should be maintained at $80^{\circ}C$ or higher in order to obtain a precipitation ratio of 99% or more. When the ammonium vanadate was precipitated in the alkaline region, the vanadium content was more than 10,000 mg/L and the precipitation temperature was maintained at $40^{\circ}C$ to increase the precipitation ratio. Aluminum was not precipitated regardless of the vanadium content and pH of the aqueous solution. However, the iron component reacts with ammonium chloride to precipitate into ammonium jarosite. Therefore, Fe component must be preferentially removed in order to increase the recovery of vanadium.
