Biofilters use porous solid media to support microorganisms and allow access to the contaminants in the airflow. The characteristics of media used in biofilters vary greatly, and therefore it is important to select the appropriate media in order to obtain a large enough surface attachment area and uniform pore. This study was performed to compare hydrogen sulfide ($H_2S$) removal efficiencies of three biofilter media; coconut fiber, ceramic, and polyurethane. The biofilter packed with coconut fiber showed stable removal activity when inlet loading was changeable, and was restored rapidly when the moisture content decreased. However, the coconut fiber suffered from low durability. To cope with this problem a media of fibrinous polypropylene was developed to strengthen the durability of the coconut fiber. Biofilter column experiments using the fibrinous polypropylene media demonstrated over 99% of removal efficiencies at pH as low as 3 and 6 seconds of EBRT (empty bed gas residence time). Due to its superior physical characteristics, it is expected that the $H_2S$ treatment performance will increase when the new fibrinous polypropylne media is applied in commercial biofilter systems.

The study was designed to investigate food waste management practices and to identify factors affecting food waste generation at school food services. A total of 202 dietitians employed at elementary schools participated in the survey. The mean food waste weight per school was 77.54 kg, forty percent of the schools generated food waste of $50{\sim}100kg$ every day and 53% generated plate waste less than 50 kg. Three quarters of the dietitians perceived plate waste as a major component of the food waste and vegetable dishes were a major source of the plate waste. Half of the dietitians used a food waste pick-up service for waste disposal, which was the most preferred waste disposal method. Approximately 90% of the dietitians conducted education on plate waste reduction for students but their perceptions on the effectiveness of the education was inconsistent. The contents were environmental issues (70.3%) and unbalanced food choice (56.7%). According to factor analysis based on performance score, solid waste management practices were grouped into 'information collecting and education', 'supervision of production process', 'cooperation with related groups', and 'control over production planning'. Practices appertaining to 'cooperation with related groups', 'information collecting and education' factor need to be improved. Dietitians should pay attention to 'recycle and reuse of left over' practice. Waste generation differed significantly by dietitians' ages and working experience. In order to reduce plate waste, more effective education materials and methods need to be developed and support from principals, teachers, and parents is necessary.
We can make the foundation of culture and contents solid with a mental altitude to make out and protect copyright. It'll be the basis of the cultivating student, the next generation in this field who are majoring in animation, comics and characters now. It will give them a good environment to learn more about copyright and motivate surroundings. With this kind of education, We can make and protect works better. This thesis is a result of study to show how to and when to instruct people copyright even though we have faced constant argument on copyright and new approach to the economic value of cultural contents which has been under industrialization. Also, another big issue is what class would be a good target of the education on copyright. College may be the last place in the regular course for education before starling his or her career. Thus, the education that is focused on the importance of copyright is recommendable at this time. Particularly, the students who are majoring carton, animation and character can keep a good attitude to protect copyrights for others through the timely education on copyright. What's more, we can build better environment for students who will start their career in the field of the cultural contents and copyrights because they will not only try protect copyrights for others but also they know their works will be protected through thls kind of education on copyright. I believe this kind of education in college will promote the development in the field of cultural contents and copyrights. Also, it will support social and economic development In culture after all.
Many mathematical techniques have been developed to determine the muscle forces and force distribution in biomechanical human model, because it is so important to understand internal forces resisting external loading. However, a three-dimensional mathematical model of wrist joint, which is essential to develop solid modeling and artificial wrist joint, has not been well developed. This study proposed to define three-dimensional mathematical model of distal radius and ulna of the human wrist and to develop a detailed two-dimensional finite element through comparisons to existing analytical models and experimental tests. This mathematical model were accurately recreated, allowing the internal tendon force as well as force transmission and distribution through the distal radios and ulna during dynamic loadings. The results found in this study indicate and support the findings of other investigator that cyclic loading condition results in higher compression force on distal radius and ulna and may be source of wrist disorder.
The results for decolorization of various dyes by Geotrichum candidum (KCTC 6195) showed that optimal initial pH, temperature and glucose concentration were 6, $30^{\circ}C$, and 30g/L. Light had no effect on the cell growth and decolorization efficiency. All the dyes - dispersive dyes, acid dyes and reactive dyes - used on the solid medium were also decolorized in a liquid medium, although the decolorizing rates varies depending on the dye structure. An energy source was essential for cell growth or decolorization because textile dyes did not support growth. The percentage of decolorization of Acid orange 10 was shown to be 91% for initial conc. 100ppm and 84% for initial conc. 500ppm. The biomass could adsorb the dyes such as Acid red 1;19.8%, Acid red 88; 73%, Acid orange 10; 12.1% Reactive blue 19; 14.6%. The dye removal was due to the sorption of dye to the fungal biomass as well as some extracellular enzymes. Color removal was enhanced up to 97% within 3 days by the addition of glucose after 2 days incubation.

SSD is a storage device of having high-performance controller and cache buffer and consists of many NAND flash memories. Because NAND flash memory does not support in-place update, valid pages are invalidated when update and erase operations are issued in file system and then invalid pages are completely deleted via garbage collection. However, garbage collection performs many erase operations of long latency and then it reduces I/O performance and increases wear leveling in SSD. In this paper, we propose a new method of de-duplicating valid data and recycling invalid data. The method de-duplicates valid data and then recycles invalid data so that it improves de-duplication ratio. Due to reducing number of writes and garbage collection, the method could increase I/O performance and decrease wear leveling in SSD. Experimental result shows that it can reduce maximum 20% number of garbage collections and 9% I/O latency than those of general case.
We have developed a simple and accurate strip test that measures the blood glucose level semiquantitatively by visual observation, or qualitatively by using UltraScan spectrocolorimeter. The strip has solid phase reagents, including glucose oxidase, peroxidase, chromogen, affixed to a plastic support. The strip test is capable of measuring blood glucose level in the range of 0∼800 mg/dl and generating the results within 2 to 3 minutes. Human blood specimens obtained from normal individuals and the diabetic patients were evaluated by the new blood glucose strip and by the kit supplied by other commercial products. The test results exhibit the correlation coefficient of 0.964. The new test strip is proven simple and accurate, and it offers an alternative to the commercially available glucose tests.
Pluripotent stem cells (PSCs) have lots of potential in biomedical sciences owing to its potential to differentiate into any kind of cells in the body. However, it is still a challenge to culture PSCs on a large scale for application to regenerative medicine. Herein, we introduce a synthetic polymer that enables large-scale suspension culture of human PSCs. By employing suspension culture, it became unnecessary to use conventional substrata such as mouse embryonic fibroblast (MEF) or Matrigel$^{TM}$, which are believed to be main causative sources of xenogeneic contamination in cultured human PSCs in vitro. Human PSCs were cultured in the medium in which elastin-like polypeptide (ELP) dissolved. The ELP in the medium became harden as temperature increases by transforming the medium into a semi-solid gel that supported growth of human PSCs in suspension. Gel-sol transition temperature of ELP can be adjusted by modifying the peptide sequence in which 5 amino acids, Val-Pro-Gly-Xaa-Gly, repeated sequentially. We constructed 3D suspension media having transition temperature around $33{\sim}35^{\circ}C$ using an ELP consisted of 40, 60, or 80 repeats of a monomer, which was Val-Pro-Gly-Val-Gly. Among the ELPs, ELP80 was chosen as the best ELP to support growth of human PSCs in suspension culture. This result suggests that the ELP80 can be a medium component for culturing human PSCs in large-scale.
University teacher education programs have sought for ways of how to improve student teaching in order to supply mathematics teachers with practical theory to achieve the goals of the current educational reform in school mathematics. In this context, the purpose of this research is to investigate the effect of student teachers' teaching experience in the after-school mathematics programs and the ways of how to develop the after-school learning programs as an effective site for learning to teach based on the inquiry into student teachers' own teaching experience. For the purpose, data were collected through the interviews with the student teachers who had taught after-school mathematics class. In addition, data were collected through survey, class observation, and seminal meetings with the student teachers in order to supplement the findings from the interview analysis. Data analysis focused on the student teachers' experience with teaching in after-school mathematics classes, that is, what and how they had learned as teachers, what kinds of difficulties they encountered in their teaching and supports that they expect to improve their learning through teaching. The analysis shows that the teaching experience in the after-school programs had positively contributed to their development as future mathematics teachers. Specifically, the after-school programs provide the site for learning through teaching at the early stage of teacher education program. The after-school programs provided the students teachers for the opportunity to participate peripherally in educational practice of school. Through the participation, the student teachers developed positive attitudes toward teaching career and became to have more solid ideas about how to teach mathematics. Based on the analysis, this research provides following suggestions concerning how to improve student teaching. First, it is necessary to provide student teachers to participate into the practice of teaching at the early stage of teacher education programs. Second, it is important to give students teacher opportunity to participate in teaching at peripheral and legitimate positions. Finally, it is necessary to construct mentoring networks to support student teachers to move from a peripheral position toward a center of teaching practice.

NAND flash memory (NFM) based storage devices, e.g. Solid State Drive (SSD), are rapidly replacing conventional storage devices, e.g. Hard Disk Drive (HDD). As NAND flash memory technology advances, its specification has evolved to support denser cells and larger pages and blocks. However, efforts to fully understand their impacts on design objectives such as performance, power, and cost for various applications are often neglected. Our research shows this recent trend can adversely affect the design objectives depending on the characteristics of applications. Past works mostly focused on improving the specific design objectives of NFM based systems via various architectural solutions when the specification of NFM is given. Several other works attempted to model and characterize NFM but did not access the system-level impacts of individual parameters. To the best of our knowledge, this paper is the first work that considers the specification of NFM as the design parameters of NAND flash storage devices (NFSDs) and analyzes the characteristics of various synthesized and real traces and their interaction with design parameters. Our research shows that optimizing design parameters depends heavily on the characteristics of applications. The main contribution of this research is to understand the effects of low-level specifications of NFM, e.g. cell type, page size, and block size, on system-level metrics such as performance, cost, and power consumption in various applications with different characteristics, e.g. request length, update ratios, read-and-modify ratios. Experimental results show that the optimized page and block size can achieve up to 15 times better performance than the conventional NFM configuration in various applications. The results can be used to optimize the system-level objectives of a system with specific applications, e.g. embedded systems with NFM chips, or predict the future direction of NFM.
