Storing hydrogen in solid state hydride is one of the best promising methods for the future hydrogen economy. The total performance of such systems depends on the rate at which the amount of mass and heat migration is supplied to solid hydride. Therefore, an accurate modeling of the heat and mass transfer is of prime importance in optimizing the design of such systems. In this work, Hydrogen storage in Pt-CNTs hydrogen reactor has been intensively investigated by solving 2 dimensional mathematical models. Using a CFD computer software, systematic studies have been performed to elucidate the effect of heat and mass transfer during hydrogen charging periods. It was revealed that the optimized design of hydrogen storage vessel can prevent the increase of system temperature and the charging time due to the convective cooling effects inside the vessels at even high charging pressure. Because none has reported the critical issues of heat and mass transfer for CNT based hydrogen storage system, this work can support the first insight of the optimal design for solid state hydrogen storage system based on CNT in the near future.
A numerical study on the cylindrical packed bed sensible heat storage unit was accomplished by finite difference method. Relation between the heat storage rate and the mechanical pumping energy and the characteristics of the heat storage were investigated for various in let velocities and porosities. In this study, the numerical results are as follows: 1) The temperature distributions of solid and fluid rapidly reached the steady state as the heat capacity ratio was increased. 2) The efficiency of the heat storage was increased as the heat capacity ratio was decreased. For constant heat capacity ratio, however, the efficiency of the heat storage was increased at lower porosity. 3) It is very profitable to design the heat storage system such that the porosity is larger for the large flow rate and samller for small flow rate.

Gas hydrates are ice-like crystalline compounds that form under low temperature and elevated pressure conditions. Although hydrate formation can pose serious flow-assurance problems in the gas pipelines or facilities, gas hydrates present a novel means for natural gas storage and transportation with potential applications in a wide variety of areas. An important property of hydrates that makes them attractive for use in gas storage and transportation is their very high gas-to-solid ratio. In addition to the high gas content, gas hydrates are remarkably stable. The main barrier to development of gas hydrate technology is the lack of an effective method to mass produce gas hydrate in solid form. The first objective of this study is investigating the characteristics of gas hydrate formation related to several factors such as pressure, temperature, water-to-storage volume ratio, concentration of SDS, heat transfer and whether stirred or not respectively. And the second objective is clarifying the relation between the formation efficiency and each factor in order to find the proper way or direction to improve the formation performance.

A high density optical data storage device has been required for many years. In the field of the optical data storage, a near-field recording (NFR) technology is considered as a next generation one for achieving the high data density. Due to an evanescent wave effect occurred under 100nm distance which is the excessively small distance between the SIL and the disc, the most significant and difficult problem in this technology is to maintain a gap between a solid immersion lens (SIL) and a disc. Also, maintaining the gap under at least 50nm is required in the NFR gap servo system to use the evanescent wave effect efficiently. There are some institutes that have shown the novel gap servo control. In general, they use a mode switching servo method which consists of approach, hand-over and gap control mode. However there is a critical problem such as an overshoot at the tuning point from the approach mode to the hand-over mode, which may cause a collision between the SIL and the disc. In this paper, we show our NFR system and an improved gap servo system using an exponential function as the approach mode which can reduce the overshoot.

In optical imaging systems, such as microscopes, high resolution exposure systems, and optical storage devices, higher optical resolution is a requirement. One of the promising technologies that is able to satisfy this requirement with relatively simple construction and reliable performance are, solid immersion lens (SIL)-based near-field (NF) optical systems. High NA optical systems using annular apertures have been investigated as one solution to achieve higher resolutions and an extended focal depth. By applying an optimized annular aperture to convention SIL optical head resolution can be increased by approximately 20%. This novel SIL-based near-field optics will be verified through experiments such as measuring focused beam spot profiles and observing the topology of a measurement sample. The studied SIL-based near-field optics can be applicable to not only next generation optical storage device but also high resolution microscopy and pattering technologies.
For the purpose of develop semi-solid baby food, we investigated ingredients, processing aids as a thickener, processing suitability test, natural antibrowning agent, packing method, novel preservation technology, storage test and quality evaluation. In results, semi-solid baby food was developed. It's formulation is eco-friendly apple as a main ingredients, natural rhubarb extract 5% and thickener 4%. Thickener was used brown rice puffing powder and sweet pumpkin puffing powder. High pressure processing(HPP) and pouch packaging was used as processing and novel preservation technology. In results of storage test and quality evaluation, shelf-life of semi-solid baby food was 15 days in $5^{\circ}C$ cold storage and hedonic score of sensory evaluation was 4.3/5.0. Taste of them was fresh and sweet.
This study was performed to investigate the effect of palm or coconut solid lipid nanoparticles (PO-SLNs or CO-SLNs) on growth of Lactobacillus plantarum (L. plantarum) in milk during storage period. The PO or CO (0.1% or 1.0%) was dispersed both in distilled water (DW) and ultra high temperature milk (UHTM), and subsequently emulsified with Tween® 80 by ultrasonication (30% power, 2 min). Increase in particle size and encapsulation efficiency (EE%) in DW was observed with an increase in oil concentration, whereas a decrease in ζ-potential of SLNs was noted with an increment in oil concentration. Moreover, the CO-SLNs exhibited relatively smaller particle size and higher EE% than PO-SLNs. The CO-SLNs were found to be more stable than PO-SLNs. Higher lipid oxidation of PO or CO-SLNs in UHTM was observed during the storage test, when compared to PO or CO-SLNs in DW. However, there was no remarkable difference in lipid oxidation during storage period (p>0.05). In the growth test, the viability of L. plantarum in control (without PO or CO-SLNs in DW) exhibited a dramatic decrease with increasing storage period. In addition, viability of L. plantarum of PO or COSLNs in UHTM was higher than that of SLNs in DW. Based on the present study, production of SLNs containing PO or CO in UHTM is proposed, which can be used in lactobacilli fortified beverages in food industry.
In this paper, we designed and analyzed 256GB DRAM-based SSD storage using DDR1 memory and PCI-e interface. SSD is a storage system that uses DRAM or NAND Flash as primary storage media. Since the SSD read and write data directly to memory chips, which results in storage speeds far greater than conventional magnetic storage devices, HDD. Architecture of the proposed SSD system has performance of high speed data processing duo to use multiple RAM disks as primary storage and PCI-e interface bus as communication path of RAM disks. We constructed experimental system with UNIX, Windows/Linux server, SAN Switch, and Ethernet Switch and measured IOPS and bandwidth of proposed SSD using IOmeter. In experimental results, it has been shown that IOPS, 470,000 and bandwidth,800MB/sec of the DDR-1 SSD is better than those of the HDD and Flash-based SSD.
In computing systems that require high reliability, the method of predicting the lifetime of a storage device is one of the important factors for system management because it can maximize usability as well as data protection. The life of a solid state drive (SSD) that has recently been used as a storage device in several storage systems is linked to the life of the NAND flash memory that constitutes it. Therefore, in a storage system configured using an SSD, a method of accurately and efficiently predicting the lifespan of a NAND flash memory is required. In this paper, a method for optimizing the lifetime prediction of a flash memory-based storage device using the frequency of NAND flash memory failure is proposed. For this, we design a cost matrix to collect the frequency of defects that occur when processing data in units of Drive Writes Per Day (DWPD). In addition, a method of predicting the remaining cost to the slope where the life-long finish occurs using the Gradient Descent method is proposed. Finally, we proved the excellence of the proposed idea when any defect occurs with simulation.
