One of the most effective methods for utilizing solar energy is to combine thermal solar and optical energy simultaneously using a hybrid panel. Many systems using various kinds of photovoltaic panels have already been constructed. But utilizing solar energy by means of a hybrid panel with concentrator has not been to be attempted yet. Normally if sunlight is directed on the solar cell, and there is no increase in temperature, the absorption energy of each cell will increase per unit area. In a silicon solar cell. however, cell conversion efficiency decreases according to the increasing temperature. Therefore, to maintain cell conversion efficiency under normal condition, it is necessary to keep the cell at operating temperature. we design and make new hybrid panel with cooling system to prevent increasing of temperature on cell, collect effectively thermal energy. We compared performance of new hybrid panel with PV module and thermal panel. We also evaluated conversion efficiency, electric power and thermal capacity and confirmed cooling effect from thermal absorption efficiency.

The most effective methods for utilizing solar energy are to use the sunlight and solar thermal energy such as hybrid panel simultaneously and to use concentrator. From such a view point systems using various kinds of photovoltaic panels are constructed in the world. However, there has not been a hybrid panel with a concentrator. If the sunlight is concentrated on solar cell, cell conversion efficiency increases and the temperature of the solar cell s increases. As the temperature of the solar cells increases, the cell conversion efficiency gradually decreases. For maintaining the cell conversion efficiency constant, it is necessary to keep solar cell at low temperature. In this paper, after designing a concentration rate for concentrating, we propose a model for cooling the cell and for using wasted heat. And, we compare it with conventional panels after calculating the electrical and thermal efficiency, using the energy balance equation.
Solar panels are modules made up of many cells, like the N-type monosilicon, P-type monosilicon, P-type multisilicon, amorphous thin-film silicon, and CIGS solar cells. An efficient photovoltaic (PV) power is important to use to determine what kind of cell types are used because residential solar systems receive attention. In this study, we used 3-type solar panels - such as N-type monosilicon, P-type monosilicon, and CIGS solar cells - to investigate what kind of solar panel on a house or building performs the best. PV systems were composed of 3-type solar panels on the roof with each ~1.8 kW nominal power. N-type monosilicon solar panel resulted in the best power generation when monitored. Capacity Utilization Factor (CUF) and Performance Ratio (PR) of the N-type Si solar panel were 14.6% and 75% respectively. In comparison, N-type monosilicon and CIGS solar panels showed higher performance in power generation than P-type monosilicon solar power with increasing solar irradiance.

Photovoltaic(PV) system has been studied and watched with keen interest due to a clean and renewable power source. But, the output power of PV system is not only unstable but uncontrollable, because the maximum power point tracking (MPPT) of PV system is still hard with the tracking failure under the sudden fluctuation of irradiance. Authors suggest that the optimal voltage for MPPT be obtained by only solar cell temperature. Having an eye on that the optimal voltage point of solar cell is in proportion to its panel temperature, with operating the power converter whose operating point keeps its input voltage to the optimal voltage imagined by the surface's temperature of PV panel, the maximum power point becomes tenderly possible to be tracked. In order to confirm the availability of the proposed control scheme. And both control methods are simulated not only on the various angle of sampling time of switching control, but also with the real field weather condition. As the results of that, the conversion efficiency between PV panel and converter of the proposed control scheme was much better than that of the power comparison MPPT control, and what is better, the output voltage of PV panel was extremely in stable when the optimal voltage for MPPT is obtained by only solar cell temperature.

Although for its great amount and cleanness solar energy has been studied a lot as a substitute one, it is limitedly being utilized in heating water and partly in special usage for high cost of installing solar cell in Korea. Consider domestic shortage of natural energy resources and environmental issue by the Climate Agreement treated in 1994, it is urgently needed to study the practical application of solar energy as a substitute one. Therefore in order to increase the efficiency of solar cell and decrease its price, this study treats the course of designing and manufacturing the panel that connects sunlight by fixing reflector.
In the case of cubesat, a PCB-based deployable solar panel advantageous in terms of weight reduction and electrical circuit design is widely used considering the limited weight and volume of satellites. However, because of the low thermal conductivity of PCB, there is a limit relative to heat dissipation. In this paper, the thermal gap pad is applied to the contact between the PCB-based solar panel and the aluminum stiffener mounted on the outside of the panel. Thus, the heat transfer from the solar cell to the rear side of the panel is facilitated. It maximizes the heat dissipation performance while maintaining the merits of PCB panel, and thus, it is possible to improve the power generation efficiency from reducing the temperature of the solar cell. The effectiveness of the thermal design of the 6U cubesat's deployable solar panel using the thermal gap pad has been verified through on-orbit thermal analysis based on the results, compared with the conventional PCB-based solar panel.

Replacement of sensor nodes for monitoring a wide range area such as mountains and forests needs a lot of time and cost. Using new and renewable energy around them can maximize the lifetime of wireless sensor networks, in which solar energy is infinite energy source that is available in 365 days. To design these sensor networks, solar energy model is essential and to estimate and analyze the overall photovoltaic energy. Using this, we can figure out important data such as the size and performance of solar panel needed. However, existing researches for solar energy harvesting consider parts of many factors to influence the quantity of solar energy gathered. In this paper, we suggest advanced solar energy harvesting model considering angular loss (solar cell panel), overheat loss (solar cell), rechargeable battery heat and cooling for each monthly properties. From our experimental results according to outdoor temperature, panel angle and the surface temperature of solar panel, we show these impact factors are correctly configured.

Photovoltaic (PV) solar systems with series-connected module integrated converters (MICs) are receiving increased attention because of their ability to create high output voltage while performing local maximum power point tracking (MPPT) control for individual solar panels, which is a solution for partial shading effects in PV systems at panel level. To eliminate the partial shading effects in PV system more effectively, sub-MICs are utilized at the cell level or grouped cell level within a PV solar panel. This study presents the results of a series-output-connection MPPT (SOC-MPPT) controller for sub-MIC architecture using a single sensor at the output and a single digital MPPT controller (sub-MIC SOC-MPPT controller and architecture). The sub-MIC SOC-MPPT controller and architecture are investigated based on boost type sub-MICs. Experimental results under steady-state and transient conditions are presented to verify the performance of the controller and the effectiveness of the architecture.
