Case Report of Two Cases of the Oculomotor Nerve Palsy (동안신경 마비환자에 대한 치험 2례)

  • Objectives : The purpose of this study is to evaluate the effects of Korean Medicine in two patients with oculomotor nerve palsy. Methods : Acupuncture was inserted into left Sojangjungkyuk(BL66, SI2, GB41 and SI3) for 15 minutes in multiple visits. Also, two kinds of herbal medicine, Gaejigeogaegayoungchul-tang and Younggaekamjo-tang were given to each patient. Results : After the treatment, patient's main symptoms were improved. Conclusions : We suggest that especially Sojangjungkyuk-based Korean Medical treatment may be effective for improvement of oculomotor nerve palsy.

A Clinical Report on Episodic Vertigo with Meniere's Disease Treated by Saam Acupuncture Sojangjungkyuk (사암침 소장정격을 이용한 Meniere's disease의 발작성 현훈 치험 1례)

  • Objectives The purpose of this study is to report the effect of oriental demonstration treatment for episodic vertigo of Meniere's disease. Meniere's Disease characterized by recurrent prostrating episodic vertigo, nausea, vomiting, sensory hearing loss, tinnitus, and a feeling of fullness in the ear associated with generalized dilation of the membranous labyrinth (endolymphatic hydrops). The cause of Meniere's disease is unknown, and the pathophysiology is poorly understood. Methods We experienced one case of Meniere's disease treated with Asian medical treatment, acupuncture and herbal medication. 64-year-old female patient was diagnosed with Meniere's disease by western medical doctor. Methods: Saam acupuncture Sojangjungkyuk applied to the patient. Results After treatment her episodic vertigo, nausea, vomiting and endolymphatic hydrops were decreased but the level of tinnitus it was not improved as much as other symptoms. Conclusions Saam Acupuncture of Asian medical treatment could be safe and effective.

A Clinical Study on Abducens Nerve Palsy Patient Improved with Traditional Korean Medicine (외전신경 마비환자에 대한 한방치험 1례)

  • Objectives : The aim of this report was to evaluate the effects of Traditional Korean Medicine (TKM) in a patient suffering from abducens palsy. Methods : Acupuncture was applied to Left Sojangjungkyuk(BL66, SI2, GB41, SI3) for 15 minutes in all visits. Herbal medicine (Banggihwanggi-Tang) was administered regularly three times a day after each meal. Results : Patient's main symptoms remarkably improved after treatment. Conclusions : TKM therapy may be helpful in the treatment of ocular abnormalities related to abducens palsy.
