비파괴시험과 관입시험에 의한 노상토의 물리·역학적 특성 (Physical and Mechanical Characteristics of Subgrade Soil using Nondestructive and Penetration Tests)

  • 본 연구에서는 도로 성토현장에서 파 기반의 비파괴시험법과 관입시험의 현장 다짐품질 측정에 대한 적용성을 평가하였다. 현장에서 다짐 노상토의 물리 역학적 특성을 평가하기 위해 흙강성 측정기(SSG), 시간영역 반사측정기(TDR), 소형 전기-기계 시스템(MEMS) 가속도계 등의 비파괴시험을 이용하여 다짐 전후 흙의 응답을 평가하였고, 동적 콘관입시험기(DCP)를 이용하여 다짐 후 전단특성을 평가하였다. 현장시험은 두 가지 흙의 종류에 대해 네 가지의 다짐장비 및 다짐에너지로 조성된 성토지반에서 수행되었다. 시험결과, 조사 매커니즘이 다른 시험법인 SSG, TDR, MEMS 가속도계 및 DCP로 측정된 흙의 파라메터들은 상호 연관성이 있는 것으로 분석되었으며, 다짐지반의 전체적인 품질 및 공학적인 응답을 고려하여 시험 방법들을 현장에 적용할 경우, 기존의 다짐도 평가 방법들을 대체 또는 보완하여 현장에서 신속한 다짐품질 평가를 수행할 수 있는 것으로 나타났다.

  • 본 연구에서는 개발한 Chemical Compaction Pile(이하 CCP)공법의 연약지반 개량의 적용성을 평가하기 위하여 모형 아크릴 토조와 CCP 전용 토조를 제작하였으며, CCP를 구성하는 주재료인 Bottom Ash, 생석회 및 첨가재의 배합비를 실험변수로 하여 지반의 종류에 따른 함수비, 전단강도의 변화를 측정하였다. 실험결과, 지반의 함수비 감소나 강도증진효과는 생석회의 함유량이 많을수록 크게 나타났으며, 지반개량효과도 짧은 시일 내에 나타나는 것이 확인되었다. 또한, 지반개량에 따른 전단강도의 증진과 함수비의 변화는 지반의 종류에 따라서도 영향을 받는 것으로 나타났다. 그 외에도 개발된 CCP는 충분한 지지력도 확보하고 있어 연약지반개량과 함께 지지말뚝으로써의 기능성이 있는 것으로 평가되었다.

Effect of Slurry Composting Biofiltration (SCB) Liquid Manure on Shoot Growth and Fruit Qualities of Peach (Prunus persica L.) and Soil Chemical Properties in Orchard

  • This study was carried out to investigate the effect of slurry composting and biofiltration (SCB) liquid manure application on shoot growth, fruit qualities and soil chemical properties in peach orchard. SCB liquid manure was fertigated ten times from April to October in SCB plot, whereas chemical fertilizer was treated two times as basal and additional fertilizers in control plot. The shoot growth, leaf nitrogen and potassium content, soil exchangeable K, fruit weight and yield were higher in SCB plot than in control. Soluble solid content and acidity, soil organic matter, soil available phosphate and soil exchangeable Mg showed no significant difference between treatments, and the leaf calcium and magnesium content were lower in SCB plot than in control. In conclusion, fertigating SCB liquid manure in peach orchard has positive effects on fruit weight and yield, and it is suggested that periodical soil testing is needed because of the possibility of K accumulation in SCB liquid manure treated soil when the orchard is fertigated based on the soil nitrogen content.

Soil-structure interaction effects on seismic behavior of a hyperbolic cooling tower using three-parameter Vlasov foundation model

  • The paper focuses on the seismic responses of a hyperbolic cooling tower resting on soil foundation represented by the three-parameter Vlasov elastic soil model. The three-parameter soil model eliminates the necessity of field testing to determine soil parameters such as reaction modulus and shear parameter. These parameters are calculated using an iterative procedure depending on the soil surface vertical deformation profile in the model. The soil and tower system are modeled in SAP2000 structural analysis program using a computing tool coded in MATLAB. The tool provides a two-way data transfer between SAP2000 and MATLAB with the help of Open Application Programming Interface (OAPI) feature of SAP2000. The response spectrum analyses of the tower system with circular V-shaped supporting columns and annular raft foundation on elastic soil are conducted thanks to the coded tool. The shell and column forces and displacements are presented for different soil conditions and fixed raft base condition to investigate the effects of soil-structure interaction. Numerical results indicate that the flexibility of soil foundation leads to an increase in displacements but a decrease in shell membrane and column forces. Therefore, it can be stated that the consideration of soil-structure interaction in the seismic response analysis of the cooling tower system provides an economical design process.

토양의 유효태 인산과 치환성 양이온의 다성분동시추출 분석방법 비교 (Comparison of Multi-element Extraction Methods to Determine Available Phosphate and Exchangeable Cations of Korean Soils)

  • 과학영농과 친환경농업이 대두되면서 토양검정량이 급속하게 증가하고 이에 대처하기 위해 신속하게 분석할 수 있는 분석 방법이 요구되고 있다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 신속 간편하게 분석할 수 있는 다성분동시 추출방법으로 개발된 Mehlich III법, Mod. Morgan법, Kelowna 법과 국내에서 사용 중인 유효태 인산 분석법인 Lancaster법, 치환성 양이온 분석법인 1M $NH_4OAc법으로 분석되는 분석치들 간의 상관관계를 검토하기 위하여 토양특성이 다양한 우리나라 농경지 115개소에서 토양을 채취하여 여러 가지 방법으로 화학적 분석을 실시하였다. 다성분동시추출 분석방법인 Mehlich III법, Mod. Morgan법, Kelowna법과 기존의 유효인산 분석방법인 Lancaster법과 치환성 양이온 분석방법인 1M $NH_4OAc법으로 추출한 분석치는 모두 고도로 유의한 직선적인 상관관계에 있었다. 유효인산은 Mehlich III법, Mod. Morgan법, Kelowna 법과 Lancaster법으로 추출되는 분석치간에 결정계수($R^2) 의 크기는 Mehlich III법($0.979^{***}$) > Kelowna법 ($0.977^{***}$) > Mod. Morgan법($0.553^{***}$)의 순으로 Mehlich III 법 이상관이 가장 높게 나타났고 Lancaster 법보다 토양 중의 인산을 평균적으로 28% 많이 추출하였다. 치환성 양이온에서도 화산회 토양에서 추출되는 나트륨 성분을 제외하고는 Mehlich III 법으로 추출되는 분석치가 1M $NH_4OAc법으로 추출되는 것과 가장 상관이 높았다. 따라서 ICP를 이용하여 유효인산과 치환성 양이온의 분석은 다성분동시추출방법인 Mehlich III법이 이용 가능할 것으로 판단되었다.

Fallow Cover Crop Species and Nitrogen Rate of Fertigated Solution on Cucumber Yield and Soil Sustainability in Greenhouse Condition

  • Nutrient accumulation in surface soil has become a serious problem for cucumber production in greenhouse. However, still in many cases, soil management practices are only focused on maintaining crop yield, regardless of sustainability related with soil chemical properties. This study was conducted to propose a sustainable soil management practice by investigating the impact of cover crop species and nitrogen rate of fertigated solution on cucumber yield and soil chemical properties in greenhouse condition. Rye and hairy vetch were tested as a fallow cover crop, and each amount of urea (1/2, 3/4, 1 times of N fertilizer recommendations), determined by soil testing result, was supplied in fertigation plots as an additional nitrogen source. The result showed that the yield of cucumber was higher in rye treatment than control and hairy vetch treatment. In addition, rye effectively reduced EC and accumulated nutrients from the soil. Meanwhile, N concentration of fertigated solution showed no significant effect on the growth and yield of cucumber. Consequently, these results suggest that it is desirable to choose rye as a fallow catch crop for sustainable cucumber production in greenhouse.

다양한 실내시험을 이용한 지반의 탄성계수 평가 (Evaluation of Modulus of Soils Using Various Laboratory Tests)

  • It is very important to evaluate the reliable nonlinear modulus characteristics of soils not only in the analysis of geotechnical structures under working stress conditions but also for the soil dynamic problems. For the evaluation of modulus characteristics of soils, various tests have been mostly employed in laboratory. However, different testing techniques are likely to have different ranges of reliable strain measurements, different applied stress level, and different loading frequencies, and the modulus of soils can be affected by these variables. For reliable evaluation, therefore, those effects on the modulus need to be considered, and measured values should be effectively adjusted to actual conditions where the soil is working. In this paper, to evaluate the modulus characteristics of soils, laboratory testing such as free-free resonant column (FF-RC), resonant column (RC), torsional shear (TS), static TX, and cyclic M/sub R/ tests were performed. The effects of strain amplitude, loading frequency, loading cycles, confining pressure, density, and water content on modulus were investigated. It is shown that the FF-RC test, which is simple and inexpensive testing technique, can provide a reliable estimation of small strain Young's modulus (E/sub max/), and the modulus evaluated by various laboratory tests are comparable to each other fairly well when the effects of these factors are properly taken into account.

표준삼축시험으로부터 사질토에서의 한계상태정수 결정에 관한 연구 (II) : 실험 및 추천 (Determination of Critical State Parameters in Sandy Soils from Standard Triaxial Testing (II) : Experiment and Recommendation)

  • 사질토에서의 한계상태정수 결정시 근본적인 물리적 과정들과 고유적 인 한계성들을 파악하기 위하여 일련의 표준삼축시험을 실시하였다. 시험결과에 의하면, 주어진 흙에 대하여 한계상태마찰각은 배수조건에 상관없이 일정한 반면에, e-log p'공간상에서의 한계상태선은 주로 표준삼축시험에서 충분치 못하게 도달하는 변형률과 비배수시험에서의 변형률 국지화효과 때문에 배수조건에 따라 다른 결과를 보였다. 실내시험을 통하여 한계상태정수를 산정하는 최선의 방법은 균일하고 느슨하게 성형된 시료를 배수조건하에서 전단하는 것으로 나타났다. 더불어 배수시험에서 다일러턴 시효과나 변형률 국지화효과를 피할 수 있는 시험을 계획하기 위한 참고상태정수를 제시하였다.

원위치 관입시험을 이용한 비배수 점토의 유효응력 산정 (Estimation of Effective Stress for Undrained Clays using In-situ Penetration test)

  • In this study, a method for estimating the effective stress of clays using in-situ penetration test(PCPT) result is proposed. The proposed method is based on a correlation between the PCPT results and strength increment ratio. According to proposed method, no additional testing procedure for collecting undisturbed soil sample is required, which can reduce overall testing cost. To verify this method, for analysis, various analytical solutions were adopted and used. Measured and predicted effective stress are compared on the test results. The verification sites consist of a variety of soil condition. From comparison, it is seen that predicted value of effective stress using the propose method match well those from measured results.

Contribution of modification of a pressuremeter for an effective prediction of soil deformability

  • The difficulties, challenges and limitations faced in standard pressuremeter testing in the measurement of low soil deformations led a number of researchers to think about the possible modification of the equipment, and especially the replacement of the volumeter by a Hall Effect sensor. This article is a major contribution in this direction. It makes an attempt to detail the design, manufacture and operation of the new equipment. The calibration of the various components was carried out according to the rules presently in force. This proposal was applied, on an exploratory basis, to the data of a real site located in France. The authors present the preliminary results of some cyclic pressuremeter tests, previously carried out in the laboratory, on a sandy material, and they then provide a basic interpretation of these results. The findings indicated that the proposed apparatus is capable of providing high-quality information about constraints and deformations. Although these tests were performed within the laboratory, it was possible to analyze the power, quality, performance and insufficiencies of the proposed equipment.
