Measurement is used to improve software process and to help calculating software quality. It makes software project to be control and help producing software. Measuring software scale becomes important target in software development. LOC is used to measure the size intentioned aspect and function point is used to measure the function intentioned aspect. This paper discusses measurement method using function point, which fullows proposed rule, and degree of GUI (Graphical User Interface) accesses achieved by applying this measurement to web page. Applying proposed rules to web pages (specially that use much GUI such as shopping mall or auction site), there is advantage that calculate site changes on numerical value by measuring GUI degree when do site administration or update.
A software size estimation has to be analyzed in the beginning of the software life-cycle and helpful to the prediction of its size and cost. The software cost has been calculated by estimating software size from the user's point of view since the function point method based on international standards was introduced for the estimation of software size in 2004. However, the current function point method is not easy to be exploited for unfamiliar user, and has a problem that it cannot estimate the proper size for software such as engineering software, scientific calculations and simulation with complicated internal computational logic. This paper presents an improved model which can simplify the existing function point measurement procedure, and perform the estimation of software size in easy and fast way at the initial stage of project. Moreover, it presents a mathematical weighted value calculation model which can solve the problem of the fixed complexity weighted value and reflect the characteristics of organization as its data is pilled up. Our evaluation shows that the presented model has advantage that it can measure the size more rapidly than the existing FPA methods and has more correlation with LOC.
Over the past decade, numerous software managers and engineers have been concerned with measuring the size and complexity of software systems. Function point analysis technique is one of the most popular software sizing techniques. A reasonable software development plan through cost and time estimation should be a prerequisite for the successful project at the beginning stage of the project. It is generally known that software size measurement is useful for this kind of estimation and the function point analysis technique would be more effective than the others. However, it is difficult to apply the technique to object-oriented methodology widely used in the software industry. Thus, the purpose of this study is to present a case study on how to apply function point analysis technique to sizing of the software systems based on UML. The results of this study can be useful to managers and engineers.
There has been a need for predicting development efforts and costs of the system during the early stage of the software process and hundreds of metrics have been proposed for computer software, but not all provide practical support to the software engineer. Some demand measurement that is too complex, others are so esoteric that few real-world professionals have any hope of understanding them, and others violate the basic intuitive notions of what high-quality software really is. It is worthwhile that metrics should be tailored to best accommodate specific products and processes after grasping their good and no good point. This paper describes two size estimation techniques, the Karner technique and the Marchesi technique, and compares and analyzes them with proposed evaluation criteria. Both techniques are to estimate software size analyzed by use case that is mainly described during the object-oriented analysis phase. We also present an empirical comparison of them, both are applied in the Internet Medicine Prescription System. We also propose some guidance for experiments based on our analysis. We believe that it should be facilitating project management more effective by adjusting software metrics properly.
The conventional way of molten nugget size measurement in welding process have utilized the metal-microscope by examining the micro sectioned weld specimen after micro-etching procedure. This paper proposes a new method for exact measurement of molten nugget size with the aid of the digital image processing unit and some developed software. This method proved to be convenient and precise in that resulting resolution and accuracy are as good as that of the conventional method.

In this paper, O-ring size measurement algorithm based on a small machine vision inspection equipment which can replace a expensive and large machine vision inspection equipment is presented. The small machine vision inspection equipment acquires a image from a CCD camera shooting a measurement plane which located on a back light and the proposed size measurement algorithm is apply to the image. For improvement of size measurement accuracy, camera lens distortion correction and perspective distortion correction are conducted by software technique. Consider O-ring's shape, ellipse fitting model is applied. In order to increase the reliability of ellipse fitting, RANSAC algorithm is applied.

To provide a seamless network to customers, Internet service providers must promptly detect and control abnormal traffic. One approach is to shorten the traffic information measurement cycle. However, performance degradation is inevitable if traffic measurement servers merely shorten the cycle and measure all traffic. This paper presents a software architecture that can measure traffic more frequently without degrading performance by estimating the level of abnormal traffic. The algorithm in the architecture estimates the values of the interface group objects in MIB by using the IP group objects thereby reducing the number of measurements and the size of measured data. We evaluated this architecture on part of Internet service provider's IP network. When the traffic was measured 5 times more than before, the CPU usage and TPS of the proposed scheme was 7% and 41% less than that of the original scheme while the false positive rate and false negative rate were 3.2% and 2.7% respectively.
Purpose: To study computerized measurements of angular parameters on 100% and 150% resized digital radiography of hallux valgus deformity Materials and Methods: 30 digital radiography of standing foot anteroposterior view of hallux valgus patients were included. Two observers(A, B) independently measured hallux valgus angle (HVA), 1-2 intermetatarsal angle (IMA), and distal metatarsal articular angle (DMAA) in two times on both 100%-size and 150% magnified images respectively, using computerized measurement software tools. The results were interpreted with the statistical software program, Statistical Analysis System, version 9.2. Results: In repeated measurements of each observer, measurements on 150% magnified image showed no differences of all three parameters and with 100%-size image, there were differences of HVA (observer A) and 1-2 IMA (observer B) (p>0.05). When testing interobserver reliability, both observers showed differences in measurement of HVA and DMAA (p<0.05), but no differences in measurement of 1-2 IMA in both images. Within the 95% confidence interval, limits of error of measurements between two observers on HVA, IMA and DMAA were $2.7^{\circ}$$1.4^{\circ}$ and $5.0^{\circ}$ respectively in 100%-size images, and $2.6^{\circ}$, $1.6^{\circ}$ and $4.7^{\circ}$ respectively in 150% magnified images. Conclusion: In computerized measurements for angular parameters of hallux valgus with digital radiography, 150% magnified images showed intraobserver reliability. Both 100% and 150% magnified images failed to show interobserver reliability. Measurement of 1-2 IMA in both 100% and 150% images showed less interobserver error.
Area of software measurement in software engineering is active more than thirty years. There is a huge collection of researches but still no concrete software development effort and cost estimation model. If we want to measure the effort and cost of a software project, we need to estimate the size of the software. A number of software metrics are identified in the literature; the most frequently cited measures are LOC (line of code) and FPA (function point analysis). The FPA approach has features that overcome the major problems with using LOC as a measure of system size. This paper presents simple linear regression model that related software development effort to software size measured in FP. The model is derived from the plotting of the effort and FP relation. The experimental data are collected from 789 software development projects that were recently developed under the various development environments and development methods. Also, the model is compare with other regression analysis model. The presented model has the best estimation ability among the software effort estimation models.
For the measurement of the magnetic field distribution with high spatial resolution and high accuracy, the magnetic field sensing probe must be non-magnetic, but the MFM probe and sub-millimeter-meter size Hall probe use a ferromagnetic tip and block, respectively, to increase the sensitivity. To overcome this drawback, we developed a micro-size search coil magnetometer which consists of a single turn search coil, Terfenol-D actuator, scanning system, and control software. To reduce the noise generated by the stray ac magnetic field of the actuator driving coil, we employed an even function $\lambda$-H magnetostriction curve and lock-in technique. Using the developed magnetometer, we were able to measure the magnetic field distribution with a magnetic field resolution of 1 mT and spatial resolution of $0.1mm{\times}0.2mm$ at a coil vibration frequency of 1.8 kHz.
