지역아동센터 학생 대상 소프트웨어교육 사례 (Case Study of Software Education for Students of Child Welfare Center)

  • 소프트웨어 교육은 4차산업혁명 시대를 살아가는 학생들에게 창의적 사고, 비판적인 사고를 신장시켜주며, 그들 스스로가 소프트웨어 관련 산업의 직업을 선택하는 데 많은 도움이 된다. 이 연구는 소프트웨어 격차 해소와 교육의 공평성을 달성하기 위해서 지역아동센터의 취약 계층 학생들에게 적용한 소프트웨어교육의 사례이다. 이 교육은 충남, 충북, 대전 지역의 20여개 기관의 170명의 학생을 대상으로 언플러그드, 엔트리 코딩, 피지컬 컴퓨팅 수업으로 진행하였다. 교육과정에서는 총 4종의 학생 및 교사의 수준별 교재를 활용하였고 기관별 총 수업 시간은 총 10시간이었다. 또한 대상 학생과 기관의 설문을 통해 이 교육이 학생들의 소프트웨어교육에 대한 관심 그리고 추후에 계속적인 소프트웨어 교육에 대한 열망에 영향을 주었음을 확인할 수 있었다.

Optimized Implementation of Interpolation Filters for HEVC Encoder

  • In this paper, a fast algorithm of discrete cosine transform-based interpolation filter (DCT-IF) for HEVC (high efficiency video coding) encoder is proposed. DCT-IF filter accounts for around 30% of encoder complexity, according to the computational complexity analysis with the HEVC reference software. In this work, the proposed DCT-IF is optimized by applying frame-level interpolation, SIMD optimization, and task-level parallelization via OpenMP on a developed C-based HEVC encoder. Performance analysis is conducted by measuring speed-up factor of the proposed optimization technique on the developed encoder. The results show that speed-up factors by frame-level interpolation, SIMD, and OpenMP are approximately 38-46, 3.6-4.4, and 3.0-3.7, respectively. In the end, we achieved the speed-up factor of 498.4 with the proposed fast algorithm.

MAC함수와 동적 링크키를 이용한 소프트웨어 변조 방지 기법 (A tamper resistance software mechanism using MAC function and dynamic link key)

  • 실행코드의 변조와 역분석 방지를 위해 단순히 선행블록에서 암, 복호화 키를 얻던 기존의 기법과 달리, 암호학적 MAC함수를 이용한 암호화기법과 코드 블록 간 중요도에 따라 상관관계를 설정하고 상관관계에 따라 암, 복호화 키를 생성하는 새로운 변조 방지 기법을 제안한다. 본 논문에서는 기존의 해쉬함수 대신 암호학적 MAC함수를 사용하고 MAC함수의 키를 동적으로 생성하는 방법을 소개한다. 또 단순히 선행블록의 해쉬 값에서 키를 얻는 것이 아니라 실행 코드 블록을 중요도에 따라 중요도 높음, 중간, 낮음으로 분류하고 중요도 높음 블록은 암호화하고 중요도 중간 블록은 중요도 높음 블록의 키를 생성시키는 블록으로 분류한다. 또 중요도 낮음 블록은 아무 처리도 하지 않음으로 소프트웨어 효율성을 고려한다. 기존 해쉬함수 대신 동적으로 생성되는 링크키를 이용한 MAC함수와 블록상관관계를 함께 사용함으로써 공격자의 분석을 어렵게 한다.

  • The intake noise, a major source of vehicle noises, has rapidly become a noticeable, and has been studied to reduce the level. Traditionally, the intake system has been developed through a experiment, namely, the trial and error process. This approach requires very high cost and long time consuming to develop the systm. Recently, FEM and BEM are becoming useful in analysis of the intake system, and the results of analysis are very valid. But because this techniques also require high cost and long analysis time, this technique is generally not practical tool at the early stage of the development. In this study, the software was developed to predict and analyze the acoustic characteristics of the intake system. It was based on the Transfer Matrix Method and operated to analyze a simplified intake system in a personal computer. It can be used early in the design stage of development of the intake system. This study presented a improvement to reduce the level of the intake noise, which modified the specification of the intake system. And the improvement were verified by NIT/SYSNOISE, FE analysis commercial software, and testing a prototype.

OpenCL 기반의 상위 수준 합성 기술을 이용한 고성능 안개 제거 시스템의 소프트웨어-하드웨어 통합 설계 (SW-HW Co-design of a High-performance Dehazing System Using OpenCL-based High-level Synthesis Technique)

  • 본 논문은 안개 제거 처리를 위한 전용의 하드웨어 가속기를 내장하는 고성능의 소프트웨어-하드웨어 통합 안개 제거 시스템의 설계 및 구현을 제시한다. 제시된 안개 제거 시스템에서 다크 채널 프라이어 기반의 안개 제거 처리는 전용의 하드웨어 가속기를 통해 처리되며, 영상의 입출력 및 가속기의 제어는 소프트웨어에 의해서 처리된다. 이를 위해 안개 제거 알고리즘에 내재된 병렬성을 발견하여 OpenCL 커널로 기술하고, 상위 수준 합성 기술을 이용해 하드웨어 가속기를 구현하였다. 기존의 소프트웨어 기반의 안개 제거 시스템과 제안하는 시스템의 성능을 비교한 결과, 동등한 안개 제거 품질을 보이면서도 전체 시스템 수행 시간이 최대 96.3% 단축되었다.

ACHIEVING CONSISTENCY IN LIGHTING SCHEMES FOR CONSTRUCTION WORK ZONES THROUGH LIGHTING SIMULATION

  • Nighttime construction is being adopted by many state DOT's as a way to mitigate the impact of construction operations on the traveling public. Although a number of states have developed standard specifications for nighttime lighting, these standards are usually in the form of generic requirement statements that only specify minimum illuminance levels. The lighting standards do not include specific ways to achieve this illuminance level such as lighting arrangements and configurations for various work zone plans and construction operations. This leaves confusion between the traffic engineers and the contractors and does not guarantee consistency in those plans, thus affecting productivity and safety (lighting conditions account for 18% to 28% of work zone accidents). The main objective of this study is to utilize three dimensional animation and lighting analysis software to study and model lighting conditions of a construction site. This is expected to increase the safety and productivity of construction operations by achieving consistency in work zone lighting schemes. A computerized model was developed, called Nitelite. Various lighting schemes can be studied using the software to provide for typical applications including lighting fixture's locations, luminance, mounting height, tilt angle, and fixture type. The results from the developed software tool were validated through comparisons with previous research conducted using field measurements.

도로 프로젝트의 BIM 사례모델 구축을 통한 호환성 검증 (Interoperability Verification using BIM Case Models of Road Project)

  • Recently, BIM has been widely applying in civil engineering projects centering on the private construction industry in order to establish self guidelines for spreading in practice. However, most BIM technologies and software are based on the architectural projects. In these environments, it is not easy to apply the BIM to a infrastructure field. Even BIM standards with IFC (Industry Foundation Classes) are also focusing on architectural projects. Especially, both private and public sectors do not know about how BIM delivery system should be performed, and how such deliverable should be submitted to the government yet. Thus, we need to analyze an application level of BIM S/W (Software) in real projects and verify their interoperability. Besides, since there are not any common standards that can exchange IFC models for civil engineering projects, we have many issues in converting as-built infrastructure models into IFC and delivering their design documents to the government. Accordingly, this study aims to perform a BIM process with commercial software for real road project after a detailed design process is finished and verify interoperability between diverse BIM software for securing BIM data reliability.

Open Source Remote Sensing of ORFEO Toolbox and Its Connection to Database of PostGIS with NIX File Importing

  • In recent, interests regarding open source software for geo-spatial processing are increasing. Open source remote sensing (OSRS) is regarded as one of the progressing and advanced fields in remote sensing. Nevertheless, analyses or application cases regarding OSRS are not enough for general uses or references. In this study, three kinds of OSRS software in consideration of international popularity, types of functionalities, and development environments are taken into account: OSSIM, Opticks, and ORFEO Toolbox (OTB). First, functional comparison with respect to these is carried out on the level of the preliminary survey. According to this investigation, OTB is chosen as the most applicable OSRS software in this study. Running on OTB, NIX format importing module and database connecting module are implemented for widely general uses and further application. As for an example case, airborne image of NIX format is used to region growing segmentation algorithm in OTB, and then the results are stored and retrieved in PostGIS database to test implemented modules. Conclusively, local customization and algorithm development using OSRS software are necessary to build on-demand applications from the developers' viewpoint.

Improving cyclic behavior of multi-level pipe damper using infill or slit diaphragm inside inner pipe

  • Analytical and experimental studies of the innovative pipe in pipe damper have been recently investigated by the authors. In this paper, by adding lead or zinc infill or slit diaphragm inside the inner pipe, it is tried to increase the equivalent viscous damping ratio improving the cyclic performance of the recently proposed multi-level control system. The damper consists of three main parts including the outer pipe, inner pipe and added complementary damping part. At first plastic deformations of the external pipe, then the internal pipe and particularly the added core and friction between them make the excellent multi-level damper act as an improved energy dissipation system. Several kinds of added lead or zinc infill and also different shapes of slit diaphragms are modeled inside the inner pipe and their effectiveness on hysteresis curves are investigated with nonlinear static analyses using finite element method by ABAQUS software. Results show that adding lead infill has no major effect on the damper stiffness while zinc infill and slit diaphragm increase damper stiffness sharply up to more than 10 times depending on the plate thickness and pipe diameter. Besides, metal infill increases the viscous damping ratio of dual damper ranging 6-9%. In addition, obtained hysteresis curves show that the multi-level control system as expected can reliably dissipate energy in different imposed energy levels.
