  • This study designed, developed and evaluated an application to improve the social skills of students with Autism Spectrum Disorders(ASD) based on the stage of the ADDIE model. The design stage aimed to factor in the characteristics and needs of students with ASD, and created guide maps and story boards accordingly. In the development stage, the application was made through a total of fourteen processes and four official tests. In the evaluation stage, heuristic usability evaluation was conducted on 10 teachers based on the their experience of using the application in the implementation stage. The results of the evaluation were all close to 'very good' in the areas of educational value, content implementation technology, content information and convenience. Finally, the application was fully developed after reflecting the corrections in accordance with the result of the usability evaluation. It is expected that this study have a role in invigorating the development of special educational software content.

  • With the rising interest in intelligence information technology built on artificial intelligence and big data technologies, all countries in the world including advanced countries such as the United States, the United Kingdom, Japan and so on, have launched national investment programs in preparation for the fourth industrial revolution centered on the software industry. Our country belatedly recognized the importance of software and initiated the 2015 revised educational curriculum for elementary and secondary informatics subjects. This paper thoroughly analyzes the new educational curriculum for information science in high schools and, then, suggests improvements in the areas of information ethics and multimedia. The analysis of the information science curriculum is applied to over twenty science high schools and schools for gifted children, which are expected to play a leading role in scientific research in our country. In the future artificial intelligence era, in which our dependence on information technology will be further increased, information ethics education for talented students who will play the leading role in making and utilizing artificial intelligence systems should be strongly emphasized, and the focus of their education should be different from that of the existing system. Also, it is necessary that multimedia education centered on digital principles and compression techniques for images, sound, videos, etc., which are commonly used in real life, should be included in the 2015 revised educational curriculum. In this way, the goal of the 2015 revised educational curriculum can be achieved, which is to encourage innovation and the efficient resolution of problems in real life and diverse academic fields based on the fundamental concepts, principles and technology of computer science.

  • Objectives: This study aimed to investigate the public cognition and information acquisition route for heavy metals and organic solvents in the general population in order to provide information for the development of public relations materials. Methods: The study was carried out by questionnaire from January to March 2011 by an interview with trained surveyors. There were 700 participants, divided by gender and age. A questionnaire was issued consisting of subjective and objective cognition evaluation items and questions about information acquisition route and preferred information acquisition route for six heavy metals and five organic solvents. Data were expressed as a percentage using the SPSS 23.0 software package. Result: For heavy metals, subjective and objective cognition degrees were higher in the order of lead, mercury, cadmium, and arsenic. They were higher among males than females, and in adults compared to school-age subjects. For organic solvents, both cognition degrees were high in the order of acetone, benzene, and formaldehyde. However, cognition degree by gender and age showed a complex pattern. As a response to information acquisition route, broadcast media had the highest in all ages and genders, followed by word of mouth from neighbors in elementary school children, school education or expert lectures in middle and high school students up to people in their 30s, and print media among those in their 40s to over 60s. There was no difference in the order by gender. As a response to preference for information acquisition route, broadcast media also proved the highest in all ages and genders, followed by school education or professional lectures among those in elementary school and over their 60s, and the internet in other age groups. Females preferred school education or expert lectures and word of mouth from neighbors, while males preferred the internet. In the case of the internet, the ranking was higher for preferred information acquisition route compared with the ranking for information acquisition route. Conclusions: This data on cognition degree, information acquisition route, and preferred information acquisition route according to gender and age can provide basic data for the development of educational and promotional materials for heavy metals and organic solvents exposure management.

  • With the emergence of a climate crisis, climate disasters have recently been clearly felt in Korea. In particular, the typhoon 'Hinnamno' in the summer of 2022 made many people feel a sense of crisis with its formidable power. In this situation, children are likely to suffer great damage even in small crises due to their lack of experience and ability to cope with disaster situations. In this paper, we introduce a disaster response learning application that supports children's disaster response training. Designed based on research results on situational learning theory and child disaster safety education, this system produces various episodes and trains them to encounter disaster situations. Children can participate in the episode by choosing options during the episode, which is reflected in the picture diary after the episode is completed. By providing information naturally in the picture diary, children can access how to cope with disaster situations. Through this system, children are expected to develop their judgment in disaster situations that they can encounter and have the ability to secure basic safety outside of adult help.
