Risk management is popularly and widely used in various industries to handle uncertainty that can negatively affect their businesses. While in the current Information-Technology oriented age, software packages are designed to assist in carrying out risk management processes, the construction industry does not seem to have software that is tuned to its specific characteristics and processes. Therefore, this study first explores the types of software that are commonly used for risk management in the Singapore construction industry. Also, using one-sample t-test, it is tested if the software programs used in the construction industry have effectively catered the needs of the users. For the analysis, a survey questionnaire was developed and the representatives from 34 companies participated in the survey. Furthermore, this study also makes use of the current risk management framework defined in ISO31000 to design a risk management software algorithm that can suit the needs for the Singapore construction industry. The results from this study will contribute to identifying strategic areas, in terms of use of risk management software, on which the industry needs to focus, ultimately enhancing their performance of risk management.
It is necessary to systematically explore the reform plans of the Software Industrial Promotion Law to systematically a representative high-added value future knowledge-based industry, software industry. The current Software Industrial Promotion Law provides only one provision on software business contract procedures, and the Civil Code, the National Contract law or Subcontract Fairness Law regulate other things, so the features of software industry are not properly reflected. To the contrary, the Information Communication Construction Law or the Construction Basic Law effectively prevent disputes by providing material and detailed provisions. Therefore the current software industry needs to be shifted from promotion to fundamental one. That is, as the software industry takes up a large portion at present, so the law should have basic procedural provisions. Also the National Contract Law governs only the contract procedures of public sector, so there should be business performance procedural provisions to regulate the software business formalities of civil sector. And the National Contract Law controls the sale, construction and service of articles at separate contract procedures, but software business contains construction and service characters simultaneously, so there should be business performance procedures fit for software business. Thus this study presented the legislative need and bill on the performance procedures of software business.
The current dual-watchdog estimation system has individually calculated the construction, the engineering and the procurement cost. The dual-watchdog estimation system is inefficient and prolonged estimation period because of the lack of the interoperability and the difference of material unit cost and construction unit cost. In order to resolve this problem, new estimation software was developed. The estimation software is developed by making up for the weak points in existing estimation method. The cost data with the same standard is the key point. And this software enhanced accuracy and speed of the data search in stylized estimation standard. A summary of the construction, the engineering and the procurement cost was generated in this estimation software. The unit rate about the labor cost, equipment and expense through a sheet was handled. The developed estimation software has five categories on engineering cost, procurement cost, construction cost and subcontractor management sheet. In this study, the estimation software to supplement the faults of the existing estimation method was developed. And estimation software on petrochemical projects increases an efficiency of the estimation work.

The landscape architecture construction cost estimation includes the repeated calculation and updating. Thus, it is time-consuming, and one of the jobs which needs to be automated first. In Korea, the IBM compatible personal computer(PC) is the most widely used one in the landscape architecture firms. However, the software for landscape architecture construction cost estimation is not being used in the PC environment. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to develop the software which can be used to automate the calculation for the landscape architecture construction cost estimation, and runs in the IBM compatible personal computers(PC). The clipper '88 summer is one of the DBMS software packages, and it has many commands and functions and functions which reduces program lines and makes the programing efficient, especially in the programing work whose total source code lines do not exceed over 10,000 lines. So, it was used in this study. The software developed in the this study was tested using the real data, and it was found that it can be efficiently used in the following jobs. They are: (1) to calculate exactly and rapidly. (2) to use resources repeatedly. (3) to print out the results. (4) to store data files for the future use. The software, as discussed in this paper, reduces the time and efforts to be spent in the calculation for the landscape architecture construction cost estimation compared with the traditional approach using the pocket calculator.

Shanghai Tower is a composite structure building with a height of 632 m. In order to verify the structural properties and behaviors in construction and operation, a structural health monitoring project was conducted by Tongji University. The monitoring system includes sensor system, data acquisition system and a monitoring software system. Focusing on the health monitoring in construction, this paper introduced the monitoring parameters in construction, the data acquisition strategy and an integration structural health monitoring (SHM) software. The integration software - Structural Monitoring/ Analysis/ Evaluation System (SMAE) is designed based on integration and modular design idea, which includes on-line data acquisition, finite elements and dynamic property analysis functions. With the integration and modular design idea, this SHM system can realize the data exchange and results comparison from on-site monitoring and FEM effectively. The analysis of the monitoring data collected during the process of construction shows that the system works stably, realize data acquirement and analysis effectively, and also provides measured basis for understanding the structural state of the construction. Meanwhile, references are provided for the future automates construction monitoring and implementation of high-rise building structures.
Autonomous Station Control System is automatic route control system of large-scale station. The system has flexibility of system step-by-step construction and expandability. A method of step-by-step construction for Autonomous Station Control System has system expansion and subsystem software expansion. The system has autonomous controllability and autonomous coordinability for system step by step construction. With property for a basis, each of subsystem communicates data field. Nighttime construction is being adopted by many state DOT's as a way to mitigate the impact of construction operations on the traveling public. Although a number of states have developed standard specifications for nighttime lighting, these standards are usually in the form of generic requirement statements that only specify minimum illuminance levels. The lighting standards do not include specific ways to achieve this illuminance level such as lighting arrangements and configurations for various work zone plans and construction operations. This leaves confusion between the traffic engineers and the contractors and does not guarantee consistency in those plans, thus affecting productivity and safety (lighting conditions account for 18% to 28% of work zone accidents). The main objective of this study is to utilize three dimensional animation and lighting analysis software to study and model lighting conditions of a construction site. This is expected to increase the safety and productivity of construction operations by achieving consistency in work zone lighting schemes. A computerized model was developed, called Nitelite. Various lighting schemes can be studied using the software to provide for typical applications including lighting fixture's locations, luminance, mounting height, tilt angle, and fixture type. The results from the developed software tool were validated through comparisons with previous research conducted using field measurements.
