Comparison of Recommendation Using Social Network Analysis with Collaborative Filtering in Social Network Sites (SNS에서 사회연결망 기반 추천과 협업필터링 기반 추천의 비교)

  • As social network services has become one of the most successful web-based business, recommendation in social network sites that assist people to choose various products and services is also widely adopted. Collaborative Filtering is one of the most widely adopted recommendation approaches, but recommendation technique that use explicit or implicit social network information from social networks has become proposed in recent research works. In this paper, we reviewed and compared research works about recommendation using social network analysis and collaborative filtering in social network sites. As the results of the analysis, we suggested the trends and implications for future research of recommendation in SNSs. It is expected that graph-based analysis on the semantic social network and systematic comparative analysis on the performances of social filtering and collaborative filtering are required.

  • Pervasive computing and social network are good resources in recommendation method. Collaborative filtering is one of the most popular recommendation methods, but it has some limitations such as rating sparsity. Moreover, it does not consider social network in pervasive computing environment. We propose an effective proactive friend recommendation method using social network and contexts in pervasive computing environment. In collaborative filtering method, users need to rate sufficient number of items. However, many users don't rate items sufficiently, because the rating information must be manually input into system. We solve the rating sparsity problem in the collaboration filtering method by using contexts. Our method considers both a static and a dynamic friendship using contexts and social network. It makes more effective recommendation. This paper describes a new friend recommendation method and then presents a music friend scenario. Our work will help e-commerce recommendation system using collaborative filtering and friend recommendation applications in social network services.

  • Recently, Internet of Things (IoT) have become popular for research and development in many areas. IoT makes a new intelligent network between things, between things and persons, and between persons themselves. Social network service technology is in its infancy, but, it has many benefits. Adjacent users in a social network tend to trust each other more than random pairs of users in the network. In this paper, we propose recommendation technique using social network in Internet of Things environment. We study previous researches about information recommendation, IoT, and social IoT. We proposed SIoT_P(Social IoT Prediction) using social relationships and item-based collaborative filtering. Also, we proposed SR(Social Relationship) using four social relationships (Ownership Object Relationship, Co-Location Object Relationship, Social Object Relationship, Parental Object Relationship). We describe a recommendation scenario using our proposed method.

  • In recent years, social network related applications such as WeChat, Facebook, Twitter and so on, have attracted hundreds of millions of people to share their experience, plan or organize, and attend social events with friends. In these operations, plenty of valuable information is accumulated, which makes an innovative approach to explore users' preference and overcome challenges in traditional recommender systems. Based on the study of the existing social network recommendation methods, we find there is an abundant information that can be incorporated into probability matrix factorization (PMF) model to handle challenges such as data sparsity in many recommender systems. Therefore, the research put forward a unified social network recommendation framework that combine tags, trust between users, ratings with PMF. The uniformed method is based on three existing recommendation models (SoRecUser, SoRecItem and SoRec), and the complexity analysis indicates that our approach has good effectiveness and can be applied to large-scale datasets. Furthermore, experimental results on publicly available Last.fm dataset show that our method outperforms the existing state-of-art social network recommendation approaches, measured by MAE and MRSE in different data sparse conditions.

Social Network Based Music Recommendation System (소셜네트워크 기반 음악 추천시스템)

  • Mass multimedia contents are shared through various social media servies including social network service. As social network reveals user's current situation and interest, highly satisfactory personalized recommendation can be made when such features are applied to the recommendation system. In addition, classifying the music by emotion and using analyzed information about user's recent emotion or current situation by analyzing user's social network, it will be useful upon recommending music to the user. In this paper, we propose a music recommendation method that makes an emotion model to classify the music, classifies the music according to the emotion model, and extracts user's current emotional state represented on the social network to recommend music, and evaluates the validity of our method through experiments.

  • With the popularization of mobile devices, the number of social network service users is increasing, thereby the amount of data is also increasing accordingly. As Internet of Things environment is expanding to connect things and people, there is information much more than before. In such an environment, it becomes very important to recommend the necessary information to the user. In this paper, we propose a recommendation method that considers new users in IoT environment. In the proposed method, we recommend the information by applying the centrality-based social network analysis method to the recommendation method using the social relationships in the social IoT. We describe the seven-step recommendation method and apply them to the music circle scenario of the IoT environment. Through the music circle scenario, we show that we can recommend more suitable information to new users in the IoT environment than the existing recommendation method.

Personalized Recommendation Algorithm of Interior Design Style Based on Local Social Network

  • To upgrade home style recommendations and user satisfaction, this paper proposes a personalized and optimized recommendation algorithm for interior design style based on local social network, which includes data acquisition by three-dimensional (3D) model, home-style feature definition, and style association mining. Through the analysis of user behaviors, the user interest model is established accordingly. Combined with the location-based social network of association rule mining algorithm, the association analysis of the 3D model dataset of interior design style is carried out, so as to get relevant home-style recommendations. The experimental results show that the proposed algorithm can complete effective analysis of 3D interior home style with the recommendation accuracy of 82% and the recommendation time of 1.1 minutes, which indicates excellent application effect.

  • Recent development of information technologies produces a lot of community services. Social Network Service is one of the community services on the world wide webs. In the Social Network Service, a user can register other users as friends and enjoy communication through a virtual message. Previous researches show a few social service methods using manually generated tagging. However, the manual social tagging is not widely used in many social network services. Moreover, they do not consider ubiquitous computing environment. We propose a recommendation method for social service using contexts in ubiquitous environment. Our method scores documents based on context tags and social network services. Our social scoring model is computed by both a tagging score of a document and a tagging score of a document that was tagged by a user's friends.

Personalized Web Service Recommendation Method Based on Hybrid Social Network and Multi-Objective Immune Optimization

  • To alleviate the cold-start problem and data sparsity in web service recommendation and meet the personalized needs of users, this paper proposes a personalized web service recommendation method based on a hybrid social network and multi-objective immune optimization. The network adds the element of the service provider, which can provide more real information and help alleviate the cold-start problem. Then, according to the proposed service recommendation framework, multi-objective immune optimization is used to fuse multiple attributes and provide personalized web services for users without adjusting any weight coefficients. Experiments were conducted on real data sets, and the results show that the proposed method has high accuracy and a low recall rate, which is helpful to improving personalized recommendation.

Movie Recommendation System using Social Network Analysis and Normalized Discounted Cumulative Gain (소셜 네트워크 분석 및 정규화된 할인 누적 이익을 이용한 영화 추천 시스템)

  • There are many recommendation systems offer an effort to get better preciseness the information to the users. In order to further improve more accuracy, the social network analysis method which is used to analyze data to community detection in social networks was introduced in the recommendation system and the result shows this method is improving more accuracy. In this paper, we propose a movie recommendation system using social network analysis and normalized discounted cumulative gain with the best accuracy. To estimate the performance, the collaborative filtering using the k nearest neighbor method, the social network analysis with collaborative filtering method and the proposed method are used to evaluate the MovieLens data. The performance outputs show that the proposed method get better the accuracy of the movie recommendation system than any other methods used in this experiment.
