Research on dental laboratory technician's image perceived by health allied college students (보건계열학생이 인지하는 치과기공사의 이미지 조사연구)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate the image and the awareness of dental laboratory technicians in health allied college students. Methods: The subject of this research are 431 health-related major students who are selected by convenience sampling from Seoul, Gyeonggi-do, Chungcheong-do, Jeolla-do and Gyeongsang-do. After a survey was conducted, the answer sheets from 401 respondents were analyzed except for 30 incomplete ones. The collected data is statistically analyzed by SPSS(Statistical Packages for Social Science 12.0. SPSS Inc., Chicago, IL, USA). Results: The findings of the study were as follows: As a result of general awareness about dental laboratory technicians, the health allied college students knew 83.0% about dental laboratory technician as a job. Respondents showed high recognition about dental laboratory technician as a job($3.62{\pm}0.31$), which showed that the health allied college students took a favorable view of dental laboratory in general. There were significant difference in dental laboratory technician image with age, gender(P<.05). Conclusion: It is required to develop programs such as proactive public relations or campaign via mass media that could enhance the public recognition about dental laboratory technician up to one of professional as required. It is also necessary that dental laboratory technicians make steady efforts for self-development to enhance their own job philosophy and skills in the level of quality, while they need various educations for building up their own favorable personality and positive ideas.

  • As untact travel has become a new trend in leisure culture due to the spread of COVID-19, car camping market is rapidly increasing. The sales of car camping-related goods increased by up to 600 percent, and the sales of SUV in Korea also increased by about four times. Despite the growth of the car camping market, there is a lack of research on the actual condition of the car camping market or research on the user's perspective. Therefore, in this study, a survey of actual camping users was conducted to derive factors that they consider important in camping, and through this, a car camping map was produced. As a result, two types of maps were produced: a map about the car camping site and convenience facilities closest to the car camping site in Gangwon-do, and a hash tag themed map based on keywords for each car camping site. We gathered data on portal sites and social media to obtain information related to camping sites and proceeded with analysis using text mining. In addition, we extracted keywords using network analysis techniques and selected key themes that represent them. This allows the user to choose a car camping site by selecting keywords that suit their taste. We hope that this research will help car camping researchers as a prior study and provide a foundation for leading a clean camping culture through clean camping campaign. Also, we hope that car camping users will be able to do quality trip.

Study on Perceptions through Big data Analysis on Gambling related News in Korea (한국 사행산업 관련 뉴스의 빅데이터 분석을 통한 인식 연구)

  • The purpose of this study is to understand the recognition of gambling industry through the semantic analysis of news data on lottery, sports betting, horse racing and casino that was reported between 1990 to 2015 in South Korea. This paper revealed the difference between journalists' intention and public's perception about news by analyzing the frequency and connectivity of news with framing and public's interest through semantic network analysis and explored the policy characteristics and innovation task. The result of analysis, news on lottery game mainly has been reported social issue related with win such as 'winning number', 'prize money', 'suspicion of manipulation' and etc. News on sports betting has been reported mandatory information related with business project and illegal site such as 'bidding', 'illegal site', 'sales target' and etc. News about horse racing has been reported the information about the business advertisement such as 'online race track' and 'promotion'. Lastly, casino related news has been reported 'major information' such as illegality', 'gambling place' and 'foreigner'. As a result of times series analysis, news about casino in the 1990s, news about lottery in the 2000s and news about horse racing in 2010s have been increased. Public's interest also has been moved to 'business scandal', 'winning game', 'citizens' campaign' and etc. Gambling related news has been classified by four types, 1. advertising publicity(horse racing), 2. mandatory information(sports betting), 3. social issue(public agenda, lottery), 4. major information(casino). We could get the insight that news can be formed a public agenda, when news is reported as a social issue with high frequency and public's interest like lottery related news.

A Study on the Development of Human Resources and Management System Model for Home-based Welfare Services in Pusan (재가복지서비스를 위한 인적자원개발 및 관리체계모형에 관한 연구 -부산지역을 중심으로-)

  • The purpose of this study is to develop human resources and management system model for home-based welfare services. For the purpose of the study, both of method of literature review about home-based welfare services and previous research and survey were used in the study. The subjects of the survey were Junior and senior high school students, the employed, housewives, the disabled, and the aged. They were considered as human resources for the home-based welfare services. Based on the result of the survey and related theories, the study suggests the model for the development of volunteers and management system composed of recruitment, education and training, disposition, management and supervision, and evaluation for home-based welfare services. Assuming linking and cooperation between volunteer center and agency using volunteers which provide home-based welfare services, the model was developed. The role of volunteer center is recruitment, education and training. The agency using volunteers is responsible for education, disposition, supervision, and evaluation related to practice. In the stage of recruitment, elaborating strategy considering characteristics of group was suggested. In the campaign, use of mass media, selection of timing, equal opportunity for all group were suggested. Also outreach strategy as a effective recruitment strategy was presented. In the stage of education and training, method and content of education in each stage of primary education and re-education were presented. In the stage disposition, method and content for the right volunteer in the right place were suggested. In the stage of management and supervision, supervision by coordinator and necessity of using volunteers as para-professionals was suggested. Also the necessity of program operation for volunteer maintenance and management was discussed. In the stage of evaluation, time, main body, and method of evaluation was suggested.

Questions and Answers about the Humidifier Disinfectant Disaster as of February 2017 (가습기살균제 참사의 진행과 교훈(Q&A))

  • 'The worstest environment disaster', 'World's first biocide massacre', 'Home-based Sewol ferry disaster' are all phrases attached to the recent humidifier disinfectant disaster. In the spring of 2011, four of 8 pregnant women including 1 adult man passed away at a university hospital in Seoul due to breathing failure. Epidemiologic investigation conducted by the Korean CDC soon revealed the inhalation of humidifier disinfectant, which had been widely used in Korea during the winter, to be responsible for the disease. As well as lung fibrosis hardening of the lungs, other diseases including asthma, rhinitis, skin disease, liver disease, fetal disease or cancers have been researched for their relation with exposure to the products. By February 9, 2017, 5,342 cases had registered for health problems and 1,131 of them were already dead (20.8% mortality rate). Based on studies by government agencies and a telephone survey of the general population by Seoul National University and civic groups, around 20% of the general public of Korea has used these products. Since the market release of the first product by SK Chemical in 1994, over 7.1 million items from around 20 brands were sold up to 2011. Most of the products were manufactured by well-known large conglomerates such as SK, Lotte, Samsung, Shinsegye, LG, and GS, as well as some European companies including UK-based Reckitt Benckiser and TESCO, the German firm Henkel, the Danish firm KeTox, and an Irish company. Even though this disaster was unveiled in 2011 by the Korean government, the issue of the victims was neglected for over five years. In 2016, an unexpected but intensive investigation by prosecutors found that Reckitt Benckiser manipulated and concealed animal tests for its own brand and brought several university experts and company employees to court. The matter was an intense social issue in Korea from May to June with a surge in media coverage. The prosecutor's investigation and a nationwide boycott campaign organized by victims and environmental groups against Reckitt Benckiser, whose product had been used by more than 70% of victims, led to the producer's official apology and a compensation scheme. A legislative investigation organized after the April 2016 national election revealed the producers' faults and the government's responsibility, but failed to meet expectations. A special law for the victims passed the National Assembly in January 2017 and a punitive system together with a massive environmental epidemiology investigation are expected to be the only solutions for this tragedy. Sciences of medicine, toxicology and environmental health have provided decisive evidence so far, but for the remaining problems the perspectives of social sciences such as sociology and jurisprudence are highly necessary, similar to with the Minamata disease and Wonjin Rayon events. It may not be easy to follow this issue using unfamiliar terminology from medical and chemical science and the long, complicated history of the event. For these reasons the author has attempted to write this article in a question and answer format to render it easier to follow. The 17 questions are: Q1 What is humidifier disinfectant? Thailand in 2017: The Resurgence of "Sarit Model" and Thai-Style Democracy (2017년 타이: '싸릿모델'의 부활과 타이식 민주주의)

  • Thailand in 2017 the public sentiment has turned against the military government. The four pledges the military declared immediately after the 2014 coup, restoration of democracy, addressing of divisive politics, eradication of corruption, and stimulation of the economy have all failed. In the same year, however, Thai military junta began to recover it's diplomatic relationship with western countries including US and EU owing to promulgation of the new constitution endorsed by King Maha Vajiralongkorn and the lavish funeral of late King Bhumibol Adulyadej which was attended by huge number of condolence delegations from around the world including US Defense Secretary James Mattis. Since the 2014 coup, US has sanctioned the country under military junta led by General Prayuth Chan-o-cha for urging them back to the barracks. EU also joined this sanction measures. US signaled change in it's policy when General Prayuth got the chance to visit US and meet President Donal Trump in 2017. General Prayuth Chan-o-cha's military junta could start to restore it's reputation internationally. Domestically, he used absolute powers based on section 44 of the interim constitution, also guranteed in the new constitution. Oversea and national human rights groups have criticized that the interim constitution for permitting the NCPO, Thai military junta's official name, to carry out policies and actions without any effective oversight or accountability for human rights violations. On 1 December 2017, Thailand marked the one-year anniversary of King Maha Vajiralongkorn's accession to the throne as the country's new monarch, Rama X. In the first year of King Rama X's reign, arrests, prosecutions, and imprisonment under Article 112 of Thailand's Criminal Code (lese-majeste) have continued unabated in Thailand. NCPO has continued to abuse Article 112 to detain alleged violators and curb any form of discussion regarding the monarchy, particularly on social media. In this worsening human rights environment General Prayuth Chan-o-cha enforced continuously campaign like Thai-style democracy- an effort to promote largely autocratic 'Thainess' in such a way that freedom of expression is threatened. It is a resurgence of 'Sarit Model'. In the beginning of 2017 Thai military government raised the slogan of 'opportunity Thailand' in the context of 'Thailand 4.0' project which attempts to transform Thai economy based on industry-driven to innovation-driven for recovering robust growth. To consider freedom and liberty as a source of innovation, 'Thailand 4.0' led by 'Sarit Model' without democracy would be skeptical.
