  • Music keeps significant influences on human mind. According to the analytical psychology, music affects the consciousness, and unconsciousness (both personal and collective). Structurally speaking, music affects the ego, shadow and self. Based on these findings, the author reviewed the life and work of Beethoven and Jung and investigated the following issues : 1) What were the developmental processes of them? 2) How did the educational processes affect their works? 3) What were the basic attitudes regarding interpersonal relationship and others? 4) What were the final psychological, social and spiritual achievements of them? Beethoven and Jung had psychologically and socially hard times during their developmental processes. However, they could achieve mature development in overcoming their difficulties. Both of them were effortful and serious book readers which could help them get wide range of perspectives on human existence and let them introspect deeply into their mind. They both could achieve the 'Concept of Gegensatzvereinigung'- that is the 'integration of two contrasting concepts into one wholeness'-. And this concept can be applied in the practical clinical settings for individuation. If psychiatrists could cease the discrimination between them and patients, they will be able to overcome subjective discrimination and prejudice against patients and accomplish objective truth. Finally they could integrate life and death into complexio oppositorum. In doing this, they have achieved eternal life.

  • This paper discusses the implications of the birth notification system and the Protected Birth Act in Korea. Aiming to prevent infanticide and abandonment of infants, the law will enter into force on July 19, 2024 in South Korea. The birth notification system mandates that both parents and the head of the medical institution where the birth occurred must report the event. In parallel, the Protected Birth Act will be implemented, allowing pregnant women in crisis who wish to remain anonymous, the option to give birth outside of a hospital setting in a way that safeguards the life and health of the child. However, many issues are being raised in Korean society in advance of the implementation of the Protected Birth Act. There is widespread concern that the Protected Birth Act fails to protect either women or children, especially as it raises issues regarding the need for legislation to protect children with disabilities and to address gaps for migrant women and children. This paper examines the gender and healthcare issues relating to the Protected Birth Act, focusing on women's health and human rights. The Act continues to perpetuate discrimination against out-of-wedlock pregnancies and upholds the ideology of the traditional family model. Furthermore, the legislative process did not address protective measures for the various reasons behind child abandonment. Critical issues such as women's autonomy, safe pregnancy termination, and paternal responsibility in childbirth are also notably absent. However, with the Act set to take effect soon, it is crucial for healthcare providers to comprehend the rationale and procedures associated with birth notification and the Protected Birth Act, and to prepare for its nationwide implementation. The law defines the socially vulnerable as its main beneficiaries, and it is necessary to strengthen social safety nets to improve their access to healthcare, eliminate prejudice and discrimination against out-of-wedlock pregnancies, and embrace the diversity of our society. We eagerly anticipate future discussions on gender and healthcare issues, as well as amendments to the law that reflect real-world circumstances to provide genuine protection for pregnant women in crisis and their infants.

  • Recently, the many anti- stigma program use the 'mental illness is an illness like any other biogenetic illness' approach. This is based on Weiner's attribution affection theory. However, mental illness is difficult to be applied with attribution affection premise because attributing no blame for mental problem(biogenetic cause) leads to fear and dangerousness. We proposed a modified attribution affection model that explains the relations between biogenetic causal belief and social distance. Our model assumed that attributing personal responsibility for each mental problem leads to anger and social distance. And attributing no blame for mental problem(biogenetic causal belief) reinforces perception of dangerousness and social distance. This study presented typical vignettes of schizophrenia, depression and alcoholism according to the diagnosis criteria of DSM-IV to 768 university students randomly. Path analysis was used to test modified attribution affection model. The major findings are, First our original model modified partially for fit index. So final model assumed that i) The more respondents believed personal responsibility, the more anger, the more anger reaction corresponded closely with more social distance. ii) biogenetic causal beliefs leads to a worsening of dangerousness and perception of dangerousness leads to a increasing of social distance. Second, multi-group analysis was conducted to verify how a modified attribution affection model would be applicable to three groups. The result is that there is no difference among three groups. Finding from this research suggest to change anti-stigma program that use medical model.

  • Recently, various interactions have been actively conducted through sharing and expressing opinions among users in social networks. In this process, since malicious users and fault information spread misinformation, trust is reduced irrespective of their will. To solve this problem, studies have been conducted to determine the trust of a user through direct-connected users. In this paper, we propose a enhanced user indirect trust discrimination scheme considering the connection relation and influence of users. The proposed indirect trust computation scheme derives the user's area of interest through user interaction and reconstructs the existing network considering the user connection relationship. The final indirect trust is also detected by determining whether the user is a malicious user through the influence of the user. Through various performance evaluations, we show that the proposed scheme achieves better performance than the existing method.

  • Until now, we have a great progress in computer hardwares and computer softwares. Many people think these days as the information time or information society. Even though, we make a great progress in the computer science, we can not regard this society as the information society, if we do not accept the development of computer in our real life. In order to provide desirable residential environment for the information - society, it is necessary to review previous housing projects from the Industrial - Revolution to these days. Thus this study deals with limits of modern housings. This research also suggests a new housing concept for the information - society by reinterpretation of the Korean traditional houses. Use of space in the Korean traditional houses was mostly interpreted by the concept of sexual discrimination from Confucianism. However it is suggested in this study, that An-Chae is a home space for providing privacy of family and Sarang - Chae is a social space for providing social activity. Thus it is found that the Korean traditional house has been used as office as well as home. In this view, it is suggested that Korean traditional houses be the prototype of future house as a business space and also as a home space. In this study, 3 types of housing for the information - society are suggested; flat type, tower type and skip floor type. these houses have two entrances independently for the home space and the social space. Therefore each space has no interference with each other. Then one can do his own at home efficiently. He does not have to go to his office in downtown. One can relieve traffic congestions in the city and reduce air contamination.

  • Much effort has been made to measure regional difference showing the pattern of regionalism in Korea. Focusing the concept of social distance, this paper examines various election and regional preference data. The paper presets three major findings. First current election data show clear regional cleavage. Second, regional discrimination and prejudice is often found in one' s everyday life. Third, political aspect of regionalism is strongly related to social aspect of regionalism. These findings suggest that regionalism in Korea will survive for the time being. The regionalism is rooted in everyday life. To political elites, it became an attractive and economic way to maintain their power. This tendency will promote the preference for parliamentary system among political elites and the possibility of appearance of regional party.

  • This study was conducted to help develop women's human resources and promote married women's return to workforce. Using various data, we examined the patterns of Korean women's economic activities over the lifecycle, career discontinuation and return to the workforce. We also interviewed twenty full-time housewives who wanted to return to workforce. The interview questions included reasons for seeking employment, desired working conditions, and difficulties in finding a job. Major findings are as follows: First, there were two groups with respect to reasons why they want employment One was an economic need such as earning basic living expenses and supporting the family. The other was self-realization and social participation. Second most women wanted to do unskilled labor such as housekeeping work, whereas some young or well-educated women looked for a professional job. Third, married women preferred part-time jobs, which were compatible with their family care demands. Most of them wanted a workplace located close to home. The women with child-care responsibility preferred working at home. Fourth, regarding difficulties of returning to workforce, they pointed out vocational ability problems due to their career discontinuation, social prejudice such as gender discrimination and psychological pressure in maintaining work and family at the same time. In order to promote employment of married women, it is required not only to change social prejudices but also to increase effectiveness in policy implementation. In addition, counseling for job-search and vocational ability training programs should be provide.
