  • With the rapid increase of social network usage, there are emerging trends of adopting social information among online users in building recommendation system. This study aims to investigate whether the additional usage of social information can improve recommendation performance in recommendation system and how much the improvement can be different according to the product involvement level. As an experiment result, social information does not affect positively to the recommendation accuracy but affect significantly to the recommendation quality. Also social information contributed more sensitively to the improvement of recommendation quality in high product involvement domain.

  • Pervasive computing and social network are good resources in recommendation method. Collaborative filtering is one of the most popular recommendation methods, but it has some limitations such as rating sparsity. Moreover, it does not consider social network in pervasive computing environment. We propose an effective proactive friend recommendation method using social network and contexts in pervasive computing environment. In collaborative filtering method, users need to rate sufficient number of items. However, many users don't rate items sufficiently, because the rating information must be manually input into system. We solve the rating sparsity problem in the collaboration filtering method by using contexts. Our method considers both a static and a dynamic friendship using contexts and social network. It makes more effective recommendation. This paper describes a new friend recommendation method and then presents a music friend scenario. Our work will help e-commerce recommendation system using collaborative filtering and friend recommendation applications in social network services.

  • As social network services has become one of the most successful web-based business, recommendation in social network sites that assist people to choose various products and services is also widely adopted. Collaborative Filtering is one of the most widely adopted recommendation approaches, but recommendation technique that use explicit or implicit social network information from social networks has become proposed in recent research works. In this paper, we reviewed and compared research works about recommendation using social network analysis and collaborative filtering in social network sites. As the results of the analysis, we suggested the trends and implications for future research of recommendation in SNSs. It is expected that graph-based analysis on the semantic social network and systematic comparative analysis on the performances of social filtering and collaborative filtering are required.

  • In this study, we try to understand the role of online social recommendation and the similarity of preferences between the recommender and the recommendee on consumer decisions in the framework of the two stage purchase decision-making process. Applying construal level theory to our context, we expect that the role of social recommendation and the similarity of preferences would vary over the stages in the two-stage decision making process. To test our hypotheses, we collected the data through an incentive compatible experiment, and analyzed the data with nested logit model. As a result, we found that the role of online social recommendation varies over the stages. Consumers take recommendation from similar others at the stage of consideration set formation, but no longer consider it at the stage of final choice. Consumers take recommendation from dissimilar others at the stage of consideration set formation. At the stage of final choice, however, consumers avoid choosing the option recommended by dissimilar others. The results of our study enrich the understanding about the role of social recommendation, and have implication to marketing practitioners who attempt to make online social recommendation system more efficient.

  • Recently, Internet of Things (IoT) have become popular for research and development in many areas. IoT makes a new intelligent network between things, between things and persons, and between persons themselves. Social network service technology is in its infancy, but, it has many benefits. Adjacent users in a social network tend to trust each other more than random pairs of users in the network. In this paper, we propose recommendation technique using social network in Internet of Things environment. We study previous researches about information recommendation, IoT, and social IoT. We proposed SIoT_P(Social IoT Prediction) using social relationships and item-based collaborative filtering. Also, we proposed SR(Social Relationship) using four social relationships (Ownership Object Relationship, Co-Location Object Relationship, Social Object Relationship, Parental Object Relationship). We describe a recommendation scenario using our proposed method.

  • Social recommendation algorithm can alleviate data sparsity and cold start problems in recommendation system by integrated social information. Among them, matrix-based decomposition algorithms are the most widely used and studied. Such algorithms use dot product operations to calculate the similarity between users and items, which ignores user's potential preferences, reduces algorithms' recommendation accuracy. This deficiency can be avoided by a metric learning-based social recommendation algorithm, which learns the distance between user embedding vectors and item embedding vectors instead of vector dot-product operations. However, previous works provide no theoretical explanation for its plausibility. Moreover, most works focus on the indirect impact of social friends on user's preferences, ignoring the direct impact on user's rating preferences, which is the influence of user rating preferences. To solve these problems, this study proposes a user bias drift social recommendation algorithm based on metric learning (BDML). The main work of this paper is as follows: (1) the process of introducing metric learning in the social recommendation scenario is introduced in the form of equations, and explained the reason why metric learning can replace the click operation; (2) a new user bias is constructed to simultaneously model the impact of social relationships on user's ratings preferences and user's preferences; Experimental results on two datasets show that the BDML algorithm proposed in this study has better recommendation accuracy compared with other comparison algorithms, and will be able to guarantee the recommendation effect in a more sparse dataset.

  • In recent years, social network related applications such as WeChat, Facebook, Twitter and so on, have attracted hundreds of millions of people to share their experience, plan or organize, and attend social events with friends. In these operations, plenty of valuable information is accumulated, which makes an innovative approach to explore users' preference and overcome challenges in traditional recommender systems. Based on the study of the existing social network recommendation methods, we find there is an abundant information that can be incorporated into probability matrix factorization (PMF) model to handle challenges such as data sparsity in many recommender systems. Therefore, the research put forward a unified social network recommendation framework that combine tags, trust between users, ratings with PMF. The uniformed method is based on three existing recommendation models (SoRecUser, SoRecItem and SoRec), and the complexity analysis indicates that our approach has good effectiveness and can be applied to large-scale datasets. Furthermore, experimental results on publicly available Last.fm dataset show that our method outperforms the existing state-of-art social network recommendation approaches, measured by MAE and MRSE in different data sparse conditions.

  • With the popularization of mobile devices, the number of social network service users is increasing, thereby the amount of data is also increasing accordingly. As Internet of Things environment is expanding to connect things and people, there is information much more than before. In such an environment, it becomes very important to recommend the necessary information to the user. In this paper, we propose a recommendation method that considers new users in IoT environment. In the proposed method, we recommend the information by applying the centrality-based social network analysis method to the recommendation method using the social relationships in the social IoT. We describe the seven-step recommendation method and apply them to the music circle scenario of the IoT environment. Through the music circle scenario, we show that we can recommend more suitable information to new users in the IoT environment than the existing recommendation method.

  • Many social commerce companies are being established and the market for social commerce is also developing quickly. In this study, the utilization, satisfaction, repurchase and recommendation intentions of social commerce consumption were studied, followed by an analysis of different factors that influence repurchase and recommendation intentions. The results of this study are as follows: first, the satisfaction of social commerce products was in the mid-range, with results being consistent across the range of social commerce companies. Secondly, there was a correlation between satisfaction associated with social commerce and repurchase and recommendation intention. Thirdly, there was a correlation between the level of satisfaction and demographic characteristics. Based on the research findings, suggestions are presented for improving consumer policy and education.

  • As SNS(Social Network Service) becomes a part of our life, new information can be derived through various information provided by SNS. Through the public timeline analysis of SNS, we can extract the latest tour trends for the public and the intimacy through the social relationship analysis in the SNS. The extracted intimacy can also be used to make the personalized recommendation by adding the weights to friends with high intimacy. We apply SNS elements such as analyzed latest trends and intimacy to item-based collaborative filtering techniques to achieve better accuracy and satisfaction than existing travel recommendation services in a new way. In this paper, we propose a social travel recommendation system using item - based collaborative filtering.
