Moderating effect of social relationship on academic stress and psychological health (청소년의 학업스트레스와 정신건강의 관계에서 사회적 관계의 조절효과)

  • The purpose of this study is to examine moderating effect of social relationship on the relationship between academic stress and psychological health among of adolescents. This data used in this study used data was derived from the wave 2-4(2004-2006) of Korean Youth Panel Study (KYPS). The results show that social relationship(parent-child relationship and peer relationship) had a moderating effect on academic stress and psychological health of adolescents. In short, it was verified that in the case of good social relationship, academic stress could actually buffer the effect of psychological health. However, it terms of parent-child relationship, it was not confirmed to have a moderating effect on academic stress and psychological health in the 11th grade. The results from above suggest that schools and related facilities adolescent should consider the program to reinforce social relationship and the timing of the intervention.

Effects of Fathers' Parental Involvement and Social Support on Parenting Stress of Mothers with Infants: Mothers' Psychological Characteristics as a Mediator (아버지 양육참여와 사회적 지지가 영아기 어머니의 양육스트레스에 미치는 영향: 어머니 심리특성의 매개효과)

  • This study had two purposes. One was to investigate the interrelations between the mothers' parenting stress and fathers' parental involvement, social support, and the mothers' psychological characteristics. The other was to prove that the fathers' parental involvement and social support have an effect on the mothers' parenting stress, and that these effects are mediated by the mothers' psychological characteristics. For this purpose, the data of 1,754 2-year-olds and their mothers from the 2010 Panel Study on Korean Children were analyzed using PASW ver. 21.0 and AMOS ver. 23.0 to carry out descriptive statistics, correlation co-efficiencies, and structural equation model, along with the Sobel test. The results showed that the mothers' parenting stress had significant, negative correlations with the fathers' parental involvement, social support, and mothers' positive psychological characteristics. The findings also proved that not only the fathers' parental involvement, but also social support, had significant effects on the mothers' parenting stress, and that the mothers' positive psychological characteristics mediated these relations.

  • The purpose of this study was to analyze the relationships of Perceived stress, Social Support and Psychological burnout of Suicide Prevention Counselors. The subjects for this study were 132 Suicide Prevention Counselors. The data was conducted by using a correlations coefficient and the multiple regression analysis. The results of the study were as follows: First, correlations among variables of Perceived Stress and Social Support on subordinate variable of Psychological burnout of Suicide Prevention Counselors were significant. Second, Perceived Stress and Social Support have a significant influence on Psychological burnout of Suicide Prevention Counselors. Third, Social Support showed mediating effects between Stress and Psychological burnout. According to the results of this study, in order to reduce Perceived Stress and Psychological burnout of Suicide Prevention Counselors, we suggested that we would be required to receive Social Support of Suicide Prevention Counselors.

Analysis of Correlation between Dental Hygienist's Job Stress and Social Psychological Stress (일부 치과위생사의 직무스트레스 및 사회심리적 스트레스와의 관련성 연구 : 대구지역 중심으로)

  • The purpose of this study was to grasp the relationship among general characteristic, work characteristic, job stress and social psychological stress by targeting dental hygienists in a certain area. By using self-administered questionnaire, it was possible to get following results from 219 people. The total score of job stress of dental hygienist was $47.41{\pm}7.46$. The people who are younger, take lower positions at their workplace and not married showed higher stress about physical environment, autonomous work and improper compensation. The people with lower income showed higher stress about autonomous work and the people with lower academic background showed higher stress about physical environment and autonomous work. The people who spend more time at their workplace showed higher stress about autonomous work and showed lower stress about relational conflict, organization system, improper compensation and work culture. The job stress about physical environment, job request, autonomous work, unstable work, improper compensation and workplace culture had a positive correlation with social psychological stress. It was found that unstable work, organization system, improper compensation and higher position gave effects to social psychological stress.

  • The purpose of this study is to examine the structural relationship and confirm the effect of labor as a civil servant in charge of civil affairs how excessive social support and delayed tension affect psychological exhaustion. The results are as follow. First, as a result of analyzing the structural relationship between Emotional Labor, social support, perceived stress, and psychological exhaustion of Civil Affairs Officials, Emotional Labor of civil Civil Affairs Officials has a positive effect on social support, perceived stress, and psychological exhaustion. Social support had a significant negative effect on psychological exhaustion. Perceived stress was found to have a positive effect on psychological exhaustion. Second, as a result of soldering the labor effect of social support and involved tension in the relationship between labor and psychological burnout of public officials in charge of financial resources, a partial mediating effect was confirmed.The object should be used to first respond to and show the reinforcement of social support and the reduction of painted pressure, identified as labor variables, before farmers appear.

Moderating Effect of Self-efficacy and Social Support in the Relationship between Physical Therapist's Job Stress and Psychological Burnout

  • In this paper, we propose the moderating effects of self-efficacy and social support on the relationship between physical therapists' job stress and psychological burnout. Based on the previous studies, this study set up three types of variables: 1) independent variable, 2) moderating variable, 3) dependent variable. Job stress was identified as an independent variable, self-efficacy and social support was identified as a moderating variable and psychological burnout was identified as a dependent variable. To empirically conduct this study, a total of 200 questionnaires were distributed to physical therapists. Consequently, a total of 155 survey responses were collected. The survey results are as follows. First, the result showed a high-level of correlation among job stress, psychological burnout, self-efficacy, and social support. Second, self-efficacy was found to have a moderating effect on the relationship between the physical therapists' job stress and psychological burnout. Third, social support was found to have a moderating effect on the relationship between the art therapists' job stress and psychological burnout.

  • The purpose of this study is to explore the effects of fire officers' experience of traumatic events and subsequent forest healing on their occupational burnout. The results are as follows: First, the experience of traumatic events, social and psychological healing, and relieving stress by strolling had a significant effect on burnout. The more fire officers are exposed to traumatic events, the more they lose self-control in social and psychological aspects, and the lower the level of stress relieved through strolling, the higher the level of burnout. Thi sresult suggests that the more fire office rsare called out for fire fighting, the more they see their colleagues with severein juries, and the higher the level of mental and physical an xiety, the more they areex hausted. Moreover, for es thealing help store duce the irmental and physi calfatig uecaused by traumatic events, thu spreven ting them from suffering from burn out. Second, the experience of traumatic events, social and psychological healing, and relieving stress by strolling had a significant impact on occupational stress. The more fire officers are exposed to traumatic events, the more they lose self-control in social and psychological aspects, and the lower the level of stress relieved through strolling, the higher the level of occupational stress. This result indicates that to relieve job stress caused by fire fighting, increased forest healing activities, including various programs such as psychotherapy, developing interpersonal relationships and self-control, and creating a positive mind-set, can reducejobstress and help fire officers recover from it. Lastly, job stress had a mediation effect on the effects of the experience of traumatic events and forest healing on burnout. This implies that burnout can be prevented when fire officers gain high emotional stability through social and psychological healing and stress-relief strolling over a traumatic experience, and stronger support from the organization and family can keep them from being emotionally drained, thus contributing to the prevention of burnout.

Relationship between Traumatic Events, Stress Coping Strategies and Post-Traumatic Stress Symptoms among Social Workers in Public Sector (사회복지전담공무원의 외상사건 및 스트레스 대처방식과 외상후스트레스증상 관련성)

  • Objectives Social workers can suffer from occupational stress resulting from dealing with clients, which might lead to metal health problems. We aimed to investigate the association of duty-related traumatic experiences and stress coping strategies with post-traumatic stress symptoms among social workers in public sector. Methods A total of 110 social workers in public sector (men 30.9%, $36.5{\pm}7.6$ yrs) participated in this study. All subjects were evaluated the frequency and the impact of duty-related traumatic events. Additionally, they completed questionnaires including the Impact of Event Scale-Revised for post-traumatic stress symptoms, the Beck Depression Inventory-II for depressive symptoms, the Scale for Suicidal Ideation for suicide symptoms and the Ways of Coping Checklist for stress coping strategies. Results The most frequent traumatic events were "Violent or abusive language from a client" (95.0%) and "Client made a fuss" (94.5%). The most distressing traumatic event was "Seeing a dead body on duty" (7.6 out of 10), which predicted post-traumatic stress symptoms (odds ratio 4.04 ; 95% confidence interval, 1.79-9.11). Among 4 types of stress coping strategies, the emotion-focused coping was positively correlated with post-traumatic stress symptoms after controlling age and sex (${\beta}$ = 0.50, p < 0.001). Conclusions Social workers in public sector showed high level of post-traumatic stress symptoms. Duty-related traumatic events and the emotional-focused coping strategies were associated with the severity of post-traumatic stress symptoms. The modification of stress coping strategies would alleviate post-traumatic stress symptoms in social workers in public sector.

  • This study analyzed the relationship between stress and academic attitude multicultural youth, and cope with stress social support, and to understand the relationship between the parameters of psychological Hi feeling, and for more efficient guidance Set the structural equation model for verifying the relationship between the factors that provide the basic data to verify the relationship between fit and Henin models through systematic analysis. The results of this study are as follows. First, we examined the difference between the factors of stress due to the demographic Henin multicultural youth. The difference between the stress corresponding to the average income of the grade and families was observed. However, differences in the stress in accordance with the residence period is significantly different from stress for participation in relationships between classes was observed. Second, the stress of multi cultural youth, psychological Hello feeling to cope with stress is sound had the effect of (-). However, social support, stress coping, that there is an effect of the parameters of the positive (+) revealed the relationship between the both of psychological Hello feeling of stress and academic attitude.

The Mediating Effect of Social Support and Stress on Optimism and Psychological Well-being in Clinical Nurses (임상간호사의 낙관성과 심리적 안녕감 간의 관계에서 사회적 지지와 스트레스의 매개효과)

  • Purpose: This study proposed to identify the mediating effect of social support and stress on optimism and psychological well-being in clinical nurses. Methods: Data were collected through structured questionnaires. The participants of this study were 207 clinical nurses who worked at hospitals in the metropolitan cities of B & U. Data were collected from September 3 to September 30, 2013. The data were analyzed using t-test, ANOVA, Scheffe's test, Pearson's correlation coefficients, and multiple regression with SPSS WIN v 20.0. Results: The mean scores of optimism, social support, stress, psychological well-being were $3.61{\pm}0.62$, $3.65{\pm}0.64$, $0.82{\pm}0.59$, $3.36{\pm}0.38$ respectively. Social support and stress showed mediating effects between optimism and psychological well-being. Conclusion: Based on this study, intervention programs to reduce stress and create support systems for clinical nurses should be developed to improve their psychological well-being.
