This paper proposes a multiple moving objects tracking system which is adaptable itself to circumstances. Snake model is sensitive to the start position value because it does not accurately express contours of objects in complex image. It can be improved as the proposed system gets background images by using difference images, segments objects using neighborhood pixels and assesses the position feature values acquired on the start position value to deformable Snake model. And also the system can simplify complex background images and reduce search regions by the constituent points of a Snake laid in Positions of object. It is showed that the proposed system can be appBied to multiple moving vehicle racking systems by the experimental results of 30fps AVI file.

The Gradient Vector Flow (GVF) snake or active contour model offers the best performance for image segmentation. However, there are problems in classical snake models such as the limited capture range and the slow progress into concavity. This paper presents a new method for enhancing the performance of the GVF snake model by extending the external force fields from the neighboring fields and using a modified smoothing method to regularize them. The results on a simulated U-shaped image showed that the proposed method has larger capture range and makes it possible for the contour to progress into concavity more quickly compared with the conventional GVF snake model.

In this paper, an extended snake algorithm using color variance energy is proposed for segmenting an interest object in color image. General snake algorithm makes use of energy in image to segment images into a interesting area and background. There are many kinds of energy that can be used by the snake algorithm. The efficiency of the snake algorithm is depend on what kind of energy is used. A general snake algorithm based on active contour model uses the intensity value as an image energy that can be implemented and analyzed easily. But it is sensitive to noises because the image gradient uses a differential operator to get its image energy. And it is difficult for the general snake algorithm to be applied on the complex image background. Therefore, the proposed snake algorithm efficiently segment an interest object on the color image by adding a color variance of the segmented area to the image energy. This paper executed various experiments to segment an interest object on color images with simple or complex background for verifying the performance of the proposed extended snake algorithm. It shows improved accuracy performance about 12.42 %.

In the case where both a camera and a target are moving at the same time, the image background is successively changed, and the overlap with other moving objects is apt to be generated. The snake algorithms have been variously used in tracking the object, but it is difficult to be applied in the excessive overlap with other objects and the large bias between the snake and the target. To solve this problem, this paper presents an extended snake model. It includes an additional energy function which considers the temporal variation rate of the snake's area and a SSD algorithm which generates the template adaptive to the snake detected in the previous frame. The new energy function prevents the snake from over-shrinking or stretching and the SSD algorithm with adaptively changing template allows the prediction of the target's position in the next frame. The experimental results have shown that the proposed algorithm successfully tracks the target even when the target is temporarily occluded by other objects.

In this paper, we propose lane detection and trackinB algerian using B-Snake as robust algorithm. One of chief virtues of Lane detection algorithm using B-Snake is that it is possible to specify a wider range of lane structure because B-Spline conform an arbitrary shape by control point set and that it doesn't use any camera parameter. Using a robust algorithm called CHVEP, we find the vanishing point, width of lane and mid-line of lane because of the perspective parallel line and then we can detect the both side of lane mark using B-snake. To demonstrate that this algorithm is robust against noise, shadow and illumination variations in road image, we tested this algorithm about various image divided by weather-fine, rainy and cloudy day. The percentage of correct lane detection is over 95$\%$.

p-Snake is an energy minimizing algorithm that applies an additional prototype energy to the existing Active Contour Model and is used to extract the contour line in the area where the edge information is unclear. In this paper suggested the creation of a prototype energy field that applies a variable prototype expressed as a combination of circle and straight line primitives, and a fudge function, to improve p-Snake's contour extraction performance. The prototype was defined based on the parts codes entered and the appropriate initial contour was extracted in each primitive zones acquired from the pre-processing process. Then, the primitives variably adjusted to create the prototype and the contour probability based on the distance to the prototype was calculated through the fuzzy function to create the prototype energy field. This was applied to p-Snake to extract the contour from 100 images acquired from various small parts and compared its similarity with the prototype to find that p-Snake made with the adaptive prototype was about 4.6% more precise than the existing Snake method.
The dynamic change of background and moving objects is an important factor which causes the problem of occlusion in tracking moving objects. The tracking accuracy is also remarkably decreased in the presence of occlusion. We therefore propose an active fusion model which is robust against partial occlusions that are occurred by background and other objects. The active fusion model is consisted of contour-based md region-based snake. The former is a conventional snake model using contour features of a moving object and the latter is a regional snake model which considers region features inside its boundary. First, this model classifies total occlusion into contour and region occlusion. And then it adjusts the confidence of each model based on calculating the location and amount of occlusion, so it can overcome the problem of occlusion. Experimental results show that the proposed method can successfully track a moving object but the previous methods fail to track it under partial occlusion.
In this paper, we propose the method Model based Non-Rigid Moving Object Tracking. Motion based method becomes difficult to predict precisely when motion gets larger, so that we can solve such difficultly with regarding the moving object as a model. In the model based method, it should be concerned about setting initial model and updating its model in each frame. We used SNAKE in a way to set the initial model, and also proposed a modified SNAKE to handle the previous SNAKE problems. Moreover, with the elliptical setting, we made the initializing process automatically which is highly subject to change in measuring the performance of SNAKE. We used the Hausdorff distance to identify models in each frame. Through our experiments, our Proposed algorithm does effective work in Non-Rigid Moving Object Tracking.

Typical methods of active contour model for object contour extraction are snake and level. Snake is usually faster than level set, but has limitation to compute topology of objects. Level set on the other hand is slower but good at it. In this paper, a new object contour extraction algorithm to use advantage of each is proposed. The algorithm is composed of two main steps. In the first step, snake is used to extract the rough contour and then in the second step, level set is applied to extract the complex contour exactly. 5 binary images and 2 natural images with different contours are simulated by a proposed algorithm. It is shown that speed is reduced and contour is better extracted.

This paper presents a road detection technique for spaceborne synthetic aperture radar (SAR) images. Roads are important cartographic features. We incorporate an active contour model called snake as a model for the road and define a new external energy for snake which is appropriate for the road. Detecting roads in spaceborne SAR images is very difficult without other information. In this paper, digital maps are utilized to obtain the initial position and shape for snake. Only approximate geodetic location of roads appearing in SAR images can be known through geocoding process and usual digital maps also have location errors. Therefore, there exist large location offsets between the two data. By introducing initial matching procedure, the errors are reduced significantly. Then we initialize the snake's shape using the roads extracted from digital map and minimize the energies of all snake points to detect roads. We outline two problems in detection and propose a method that mitigates them.
