The foot and mouth disease(FMD) was occurred from Andong city on November 23, 2010 and spread out the whole country except Jeju island and Jeolla-do. About 3.4 million livestock such as cow and pig was buired at 4,200 sites during preventive measures of FMD. Government did not effectively respond to the FMD crisis management so FMD spread out the whole country. To Prevent the spread FMD, Farms have to fast approaching and respond directly to smartphones and Tablet PC applications. Resolve the difficulties of using smart devices and easy to operate for the effective utilization of the development of simple applications. This application of FMD, developed for the prevention and alarm applications, foot and mouth disease will be caused, farmers around the farm in case of risk and the seriousness of the FMD will notify smartphone, FMD prevent additional damage due to be interested in preventing further that allows your application is for development purposes.
Maesil began to grow in Gwangyang after the old Mr. Yulsan Kim Oh-cheon brought 5,000 trees of maesil(Prunes mume) from Japan in 1931. Today, Gwangyang maesil comprises approximately 25% of total national output. Gwangyang produces a variety of foods, manufactured foods and beverages using maesil. Besides, numerous tourists came to the 15th Gwangyang International Ume Flower Culture Festival to enjoy the festival and appreciate blossoming ume flowers. More than 1.9 million people visited Blue Ume Flower Farm in Gwangyang in the year of 2010. As many visitors came to the city simultaneously, however, there occurred confusion. So, it is thought that the following measures are necessary to enhance the tourism value of Gwangyang maesil. First, a symbolic story for Gwangyang maesil or maehwa(ume flower) needs to be created. Second, snack foods for sightseers need to be developed. Third, diverse attractive elements to prolong tourists' stays are worth developing. Fourth, it is necessary for Gwangyang to hold competitions for ideas to activate tourism through maesil. Fifth, Gwangyang needs to promote collaborative development of tourist items and collaborative tourism marketing in close cooperation with neighboring cities and counties. Finally, it is worthwhile for Gwangyang to host an international fruits and seeds exposition or exhibition and it needs to strengthen active promotion and marketing suitable for the Smart Age.

The biotic stress of garlic and tobacco infected by bacteria and virus was evaluated using a thermal imaging camera in a growth chamber. The remote sensing technique using the thermal camera detected that garlic leaf temperature increased when the leaves were infected by bacterial soft rot of garlic. Furthermore, the temperature of leaf was relatively high for the leaves where the colony-forming unit per mL was large. Such temperature patterns were detected for tobacco leaves infected by Cucumber Mosaic Virus using thermal images. In addition, the crop water stress index (CWSI) calculated from leaf temperature also increased for the leaves infected by the virus. The event such that CWSI increased by the infection of the virus occurred before visual disease symptom appeared. Our results suggest that the thermal imaging camera would be useful for the development of crop remote sensing technique, which can be applied to a smart farm.

BACKGROUND: Cultivation area using agricultural plastic film facilities in Korea is rapidly increasing every year; however, it accelerates the salt accumulation in soils due to repeated cultivation and excessive use of chemical fertilizers. Coal ash contains various trace elements and has high potential to be used in agricultural purposes. This research was aimed to improve the quality of salts-accumulated soils and crop growth grown in the plastic film facilities using the soil amendment derived from coal ash and zero-valent iron powder. METHODS AND RESULTS: Soil amendment used in the study was manufactured using coal ash with iron powder and subjected to a typical upland soil for soil quality enhancement and two salts-accumulated soils for crop growth. After one month incubation of the salts-accumulated soils treated with the soil amendment, soil pH increased significantly and soil EC decreased by approximately 50%, compared to the control or the treatment without the soil amendment. Since the soil salts' concentration is proportional to EC, the subjected soil amendment can be proposed as an effective way to overcome soil salts accumulation in agricultural plastic film facilities. For crop growth, the length of roots and stems increased by approximately 10% and the dry weight also increased by a maximum of 75%, compared to the control. CONCLUSION: The soil amendment made from waste resources such as coal ash and zero-valent iron was found to not only be effective in improving salt-accumulated soils and crop yield but also be safe against harmful heavy metals.
Rice straw management and winter crop cultivation are crucial components for the accurate estimation of paddy methane emissions. Field-based extensive investigation of paddy organic matter management requires enormous efforts however it becomes more feasible as drone technology advances. The objectives of this study were to identify paddy fields of straw application and winter crop cultivation using drone images and to apply for the estimation of yearly methane emission. Total 35 sites of over 150ha in area were selected nationwide as the study areas. Drone images of the study sites were taken twice during summer and winter in 2018 through 2019: Summer images were used to identify paddy cultivation areas, while winter images for straw and winter crop practices. Drone-image-based identification results were used to estimate paddy methane emission and compared with conventional method. As the result, mean areas for paddy, straw application and winter crop cultivation were 118.9ha, 12.0ha, and 11.3ha, respectively. Overall rice straw application rate were greater in Gyeonggi-do(20%) and Chungcheongnam-do(12%), while winter crop cultivation was greatest in Gyeongsangnam-do(30%) and Jeolla-do(27%). Yearly mean methane emission was estimated to be 226.2kg CH4/ha/yr in this study and about 32% less when compared to 331.8kg CH4/ha/yr estimated with the conventional method. This was primarily because of the lower rice straw application rate observed in this study, which was less than quarter the rate of 55.62% used for the conventional method. This indicates the necessity to use more accurate statistics of rice straw application as well as winter crop practices into paddy methane emission estimation. Thus it is recommended to further study to link drone technology with satellite image analysis in order to identify organic management practices at a paddy field level over extensive agricultural area.
This experiment investigates the characteristics of microorganisms isolated from a medium during cultivation process and reveals the relationship between these microorganisms and the growth of Agaricus bisporus. The domestically grown strains of Agaricus bisporus displayed a higher inhibition growth rate against microorganisms isolated from straw, chicken manure, and medium than imported strains. As for inhibition of mycelial growth among mushroom cultivars of the microorganisms separated by each fermentation step from the mushroom medium, the domestic cultivar, 'Saedo,' grew more vigorously among other cultivars. As the fermentation progressed, it was confirmed that inhibitation of microorganisms against Agaricus bisporus was weakened. A total of 21 strains of microorganisms that promote mushroom growth were isolated in the 4th turning process, and the microorganisms isolated from the mushroom medium affect the growth and as yield of the mushroom through secretory substances.

This study estimated acreage response functions for greenhouse paprika, greenhouse strawberry, open-land garlic, and open-land spinach by using Gyeongsangnamdo agricultural income data. The results show that the cultivation area for greenhouse paprika increased because the agricultural management costs decreased, and the risk of price volatility was relatively low. On the other hand, the cultivation area for greenhouse strawberries decreased due to increasing agricultural management costs and the greater risk of price volatility. In the case of open-land garlic and spinach, the cultivation area remained stagnant due to the greater risk of price volatility, despite increasing agricultural revenue. We derived several policy implications from our results. The risk of price volatility in agricultural products is greater for crops grown on land rather than crops grown in greenhouses. Therefore, the local government needs to adopt the "agricultural revenue guarantee insurance" in preference to crops grown on land rather than crops grown in greenhouses. On the other hand, in the case of greenhouse crops, agricultural management costs are very high. Thus, local government should focus on replacing old facilities and supplying smart-farm facilities that reduce agricultural management costs such as heating costs.
The objective of this study is to estimate the relationship between CO2 emissions and both nuclear power and renewable energy generation, and compare the cost efficiencies of nuclear power and renewable energy generation in reducing CO2 emissions in Korea. The results show that nuclear power and renewable energy generation should be increased by 1.344% and 7.874% to reduce CO2 emissions by 1%, respectively. Using the estimated coefficients and the levelized costs of electricity by source including the external costs, if the current amount of electricity generation is one megawatt-hour, the range of generation cost of nuclear power generation to reduce 1% CO2 emissions is $0.72~$1.49 depending on the level of external costs. In the case of renewable energy generation, the generation cost to reduce 1% CO2 emissions is $6.49. That is, to mitigate 1% of CO2 emissions at the total electricity generation of 353 million MWh in 2020 in Korea, the total generation costs range for nuclear power is $254 million~$526 million for the nuclear power, and the cost for renewable energy is $2.289 billion for renewable energy. Hence, we can conclude that, in Korea, nuclear power generation is more cost-efficient than renewable energy generation in mitigating CO2 emissions, even with the external costs of nuclear power generation.

Currently the population of rural areas in Korea continue to decline due to low birth rate, aging population, and migration. This phenomenon is accelerated over time. And as a result, there are some declining phenomenon in rural society. And it is same in the residential and basic living conditions of rural villages. The increase ratio of empty houses exacerbates the rural landscape, acts as a cause of crime and bring out various social and economic problems such as worsening settlement conditions and local slums. The study is carried out to prevent this phenomenon by investigating the architectural contents of empty houses in the village, surveyed residents and owners and finally analyzed and synthesized to make a plan to utilize empty houses in the village. This study was conducted from June to December 2021. The conclusions are followings: 1. The empty houses in Korea were 1,511 million in 2020, 8.2% of the total number of houses, whereas those in Jeollabuk-do were 95,412, 12.9% of those of houses, and those in Gimje-city, the subject of this study, were 5,944. It is up to 15.8%. In particular, empty houses in Hacheon village, the site of this study, accounted for the highest ratio, with 25% of the total number of houses. 2. To understand the utilization and improvement of empty houses, surveys and interviews were conducted to residents and owners of Hacheon village in Gimje, and most of the residents submit proposals that empty houses were not desirable in terms of village landscape and safety. The owners don't have intentions of selling or leasing them. They want to remodel them and rent for a specific period. 3. As the physical condition of the empty houses(9empty houses) 6 empty houses of them are good. 4 of them are in poor condition. 4. By synthesizing these contents, nine empty houses in Hacheon village will be remodeled as the space for those of rural start-up young people, smart farm area, community space and rental housings for rural returnees.

In this paper, we propose a service method that can provide insight into multi-source agricultural data, way to cluster environmental factor which supports data analysis according to time flow, and curate crop environmental factors. The proposed curation service consists of four steps: collection, preprocessing, storage, and analysis. First, in the collection step, the service system collects and organizes multi-source agricultural data by using an OpenAPI-based web crawler. Second, in the preprocessing step, the system performs data smoothing to reduce the data measurement errors. Here, we adopt the smoothing method for each type of facility in consideration of the error rate according to facility characteristics such as greenhouses and open fields. Third, in the storage step, an agricultural data integration schema and Hadoop HDFS-based storage structure are proposed for large-scale agricultural data. Finally, in the analysis step, the service system performs DTW-based time series classification in consideration of the characteristics of agricultural digital data. Through the DTW-based classification, the accuracy of prediction results is improved by reflecting the characteristics of time series data without any loss. As a future work, we plan to implement the proposed service method and apply it to the smart farm greenhouse for testing and verification.
