  • Korea's facility horticulture has developed remarkably in a short period of time. However, in order to secure international competitiveness in response to unfavorable surrounding conditions such as high operating costs and market opening, it is necessary to diagnose the problems of facility horticulture and prepare countermeasures through analysis. The purpose of this study was to analyze the case of leading farmers by introducing information and communication technology (ICT) in hydroponic cultivation agriculture and horticulture, and to examine how agricultural technology utilizing smart farm and big data of facility horticulture contribute to farm productivity. Crop growth information gathering and analysis solutions were developed to analyze the productivity change factors calculated from hydroponics tomato farms and strawberry farms. The results of this study are as follows. The application range of the leaf temperature was verified to be variously utilized such as house ventilation in the facility, opening and closing of the insulation curtain, and determination of the initial watering point and the ending time point. Second, it is necessary to utilize water content information of crop growth. It was confirmed that the crop growth rate information can confirm whether the present state of crops is nutrition or reproduction, and can control the water content artificially according to photosynthesis ability. Third, utilize EC and pH information of crops. Depending on the crop, EC values should be different according to climatic conditions. It was confirmed that the current state of the crops can be confirmed by comparing EC and pH, which are measured from the supplied EC, pH and draining. Based on the results of this study, it can be confirmed that the productivity of smart farm can be affected by how to use the information of measurement growth.

  • With enforcement of five-day workweek system, leisure time for family has increased. However, there is imbalance between demand and supply of leisure because of the absence of proper way for spending leisure time with family. On the other hand, TV, which has been playing an important role as a media for family, shows new possibility of interaction with advent of Smart TV. With this tendency, now it could be an appropriate time for researching the healthy way to spend leisure time on weekend with family. Therefore this paper aims to propose a family farming contents called 'Our Farm', which links on-line and off-line. To firm up necessity and appropriateness of this paper, I analyzed existing thesis and games for family and did FGI(Focus Group Interview) with a family. In this research, I proposed the picture UI based on results of investigation.

  • The agricultural environment is changing and becoming more advanced due to the influence of the 4th Industrial Revolution. From the basic plan of Rural Informatics to the current level of 2nd generation smart farms aimed at improving productivity using Big data, cloud network and more IoT technology. We are continuing to provide support and research and development. However, many problems remain to be solved in order to supply and settle smart farms in Korea. The purpose of this study is to provide a method of collecting and sharing data on farming environment and to help improve the income and productivity of farmers based on collected data. In the case of hog farm, the multiple sensors for environmental data like temperature, humidity and gases and the network environment for connecting the internet were established. The environment sensor was made using the ESP8266 Node MCU board as micro-controller, DHT22 sensor for temperature and humidity, and MQ series sensors for various gases in the hog pens. The network sensor was applied experimentally for one month and the environmental data of the hog farm was stored on a web database. This study is expected to raise the importance of collecting and managing the agricultural and environmental data, for the next generation farmers to understand the smart farm more easily and to try it by themselves.

  • Up-to-date statistics of crop cultivation status is essential for farm land management planning and the advancement in remote sensing technology allows for rapid update of farming information. The objective of this study was to develop a classification model of rice paddy or winter crop fields based on NDWI, NDVI, and HSV indices using Sentinel-2 satellite images. The 18 locations in central Korea were selected as target areas and photographed once for each during summer and winter with a eBee drone to identify ground truth crop cultivation. The NDWI was used to classify summer paddy fields, while the NDVI and HSV were used and compared in identification of winter crop cultivation areas. The summer paddy field classification with the criteria of -0.195

  • In this study, we implemented a real-time pest detection and prediction system for a strawberry farm using a computer vision model based on the YOLOv5 architecture and an Isolation Forest Classifier. The model performance evaluation showed that the YOLOv5 model achieved a mean average precision (mAP 0.5) of 78.7%, an accuracy of 92.8%, a recall of 90.0%, and an F1-score of 76%, indicating high predictive performance. This system was designed to be applicable not only to strawberry farms but also to other crops and various environments. Based on data collected from a tomato farm, a new AI model was trained, resulting in a prediction accuracy of over 85% for major diseases such as late blight and yellow leaf curl virus. Compared to the previous model, this represented an improvement of more than 10% in prediction accuracy.

  • Recently, as the need for food resources has increased both domestically and internationally, support for the agricultural sector for stable food supply and demand is expanding in Korea. However, according to recent media articles, the biggest problem in rural communities is the unstable profit structure. In addition, in order to confirm the profit structure, profit forecast data must be clearly prepared, but there is a lack of auxiliary data for farmers or future returnees to predict farm income. Therefore, in this paper we analyzed data over the past 15 years through time series analysis and proposes an artificial intelligence farm income prediction algorithm that can predict farm household income in the future. If the proposed algorithm is used, it is expected that it can be used as auxiliary data to predict farm profits.

  • The smart farm is a remarkable system because it utilizes information and communication technologies in agriculture to bring high productivity and excellent qualities of crops. It automatically measures the growth environment of the crops and accumulates huge amounts of environmental information in real time growing in smart farms using multi-variable control of environmental factors. The statistical model using the collected big data will be helpful for decision making in order to control optimal growth environment of crops in smart farms. Using data collected from a smart farm of tomato, we carried out multiple regression analysis to determine the relationship between yield and environmental factors and to predict yield of tomato. In this study, appropriate parameter modification was made for environmental factors considering tomato growth. Using these new factors, we fit the model and derived the optimal environmental factors that affect the yields of tomato. Based on this, we could predict the yields of tomato. It is expected that growth environment can be controlled to improve tomato productivities by using statistical model.

  • There is a shortage of mobile application systems readily applicable to the field of crop cultivation in relation to diseases and insect pests directly connected to the quality of crops. Most of system have been devoted to diseases and insect pests that would offer full predictions and basic information about diseases and insect pests currently. But for lack of the instant diagnostic functions seriously and the field of crop cultivation, we design and implement a crop cultivation field-oriented smart diseases and insect pests information retrieval system based on mobile for u-Farm. The proposed system had such advantages as providing information about diseases and insect pests in the field of crop cultivation and allowing the users to check the information with their smart-phones real-time based on the Lucene, a search library useful for the specialized analysis of images, and JSON data structure. And it was designed based on object-oriented modeling to increase its expandability and reusability. It was capable of search based on such image characteristic information as colors as well as the meta-information of crops and meta-information-based texts. The system was full of great merits including the implementation of u-Farm, the real-time check, and management of crop yields and diseases and insect pests by both the farmers and cultivation field managers.
